Closed escrow on my home yesterday. (First time home buyer). Happy to be out of escrow. Exhausted. Immediately applied for Ashley Furniture through TD Bank (I chose lender) and got 10k line. Then immediately applied for Rooms to go through Synchrony and got a 5k limit. Called and they upped it to 15k per my request. About 4 hours before closing escow I called Synchrony underwriters and asked them to lower my paypal smart connect from 45k to 35k so that I had room for a new syncrhony prodcuct as I was nestled at max exposure with them (95k of 100k max).

#homeowner 4% fixed 30 years conventional

Called Synchrony for a CLI on Rooms to Go Card. They are offering 5 years at 0% APR on new furniture if you spend $2k or more this week (holy crap) ...

Synchrony did a hard INQ without telling me (I didn't think they did that) and didn't approve my 50k request (system auto approved a 10k increase to 25k). This puts me at 110k with Synchrony exposure, over the 100k limit.

They said they can fax docs to a rooms to go location if i want the full 50k but i probably won't spend the time.

Kind of an interesting play for Synchrony.

I only applied as I don't want a high util % on any single card. Interesting...

That's because that 2k in RTG furniture is only worth about 500.

So they can afford to finance you at 0%.

Find me new furniture anywhere with smaller margins. Furniture / mattresses etc. is one of the highest margin industries on the planet. (Next to iPhones)

Any updates ?

Hi Drew,

Not much to update. Mortgage hit my credit reports and I made my first payment. Neither moved my FICO even a single point which surprised me a bit. I think I may have reached that point where I have so many accounts on my credit reports that nothing really makes them move all that much anymore.

No need to apply for anything... would love to get my AAOA above 10 years but that would take a few years gardening straight. We will just have to see.

Applied for a Choice Rewards Hotel VISA today... driving across the country this summer and they are offering four free nights stay with spending $1,000 initial spend.

Probably short sighted on my part but I do like free money.

Approved but only for 4k. Wtf Barclay.

Did you move any of the CL over?

You certainly don't need the limit on the regular Freedom, and probably not the Amazon card either.

No he didn't even though it was previously suggested.

F5 needs no more than $2K to blow out the 5% quarterly categories. The Chase Amazon can be beat purchasing Amazon GC's on the Ink+ for 5x at Staples or another office supply store.

That Freedom Unlimited should be at $43K.

I am waiting to move the limits over. First things first - I spend about 6-10k a month on Amazon right now using Amazon Visa so that limit stays where it is. 2nd, I am planning on moving most of the limit from Freedom5 to Freedom Unlimited once the card arrives, but until then the freedom is my go to card for daily personal charges.

And F me sideways. I never thought about buying Amazon GC's at Staples. Holy chocolate. What is my max bonus on INK again at office supply stores?

I just did the math. You guys made me almost an extra $3,000 a year by almost doing nothing differently . I don't know how I didn't realize this before. I need to open a 2nd INK. If I start a 2nd business I can do that right?
