NFCU LOCKED ALL MY ACCOUNTS - CHECKING & CREDIT

Recommended Posts

Anyone heard of this?

I can't access any of my checking, savings or credit cards.

I'm a new member, they approved me for $10K card when I joined and

a second $10K card 3 days ago.

The day I am supposed to get access to the second card, they lock

every account that I have. I have NO access to funds.

They did this to my sponsor as well who I joined under.

I have to call the fraud dept between 9am and 3pm tomorrow.

I have not late payments and nothing negative on credit reports or

anywhere. I am so confused.

WTF

Anyone seen a bank tie up all your accounts before?

Thanks

What is the relationship between your sponsor and yourself?

my sponsor:

girlfriend aka domestic partners - her father was in the marine corp

Could that actually matter?

As long as you live at the same address this should not matter. Household members are eligible.

Sounds like the security dept is questioning your membership eligibility. I heard NFCU doing this but not recently. Hope all goes well for you.

Just because her dad was in the marine's doesn't mean she OR HE is eligible. He has to have retired, meaning collect retirement or some sort of pay from the military. If he was just "in" the military and didn't renew his contract and left, he's not eligible so therefore neither are you nor your girlfriend.

Now, if he IS collecting retirement or he was a member of NFCU prior to leaving the military, I have no clue why this is happening. Good luck.

i myself went thur the same thing last june. soon you will see a different side of navy, very mean. navy is going to go thur your membership with a fine tooth comb. navy is going to ask for alot of documents to be faxed.

as for new member out there dont applied mult credit products in a short amount of time becuse your accounts will be flagged and you will have to go thur the fraud dept. i was clear with the fraud dept in about 4 months. imo you are going to see more of this in the future because of people getting in with false applications.

the account was locked because he applied for mult credit products ie 2nd cc which is a red flag. that is the reason. usaa does the same thing. if navy finds you are not eligable to have a membership and you have a balance on a cc for example money that you have in other accounts will be taken to pay off the cc.

when i was in the army i was the co. clerk part of my job was dealing with navy and usaa because my capt. at the time did not want to deal with them so the job was passed down to me. let me tell you navy and usaa are meaner then a pack of hell hounds. you truly dont want to mess with them i know from first hand exp.

I don't really think it was because of multiple cc apps. I applied for 2 credit cards with Navy within days of joining and the apps one right after the other and they did not decide to freeze my accounts. There has to be another reason.

I'd focus on the girlfriends fathers relationship with the Marine Corp.

Bingo.

Semper Fi(nancial)

If the girlfriend's father has to be currently in or retired honorably with benefits, then that would be it right there. Anything less, and they will pull your accounts. Any funds in checking and savings will be used to offset any outstanding balance on any credit products.

I lost my online access about 4 days after joining. It just gives me the red letter "there is a condition which does not allow this action. please call...."

now my credit card still works fine but the only record I can see online is the photocopy of the statement they put out each month. No interaction of the accounts or anything interactive at all. It allowed me to activate my credit card online, but if I look for a transfer option or anything like that, it all basically says I don't have an account of any kind. Ive just kind of left well enough alone and paid by mail and not called in. Well, I tried calling the number on the back of the mastercard before and entered my access number as asked, then it tries to send me to a human. Does it normally do that when your making a credit card inquiry with them? I am so used to calling the number on the back of any card and getting pure automated info. I assumed when the system tried to connect me to customer service that it was unusual and didn't want to talk to anyone.

I don't know. Maybe I just have a minor issue with being allowed full online access. Obviously they don't have to look too hard to know I have a mastercard with them. If they wanted to freeze it like my savings and checking, they could do so easily. But they haven't.

The Security Dept is grilling me.

They said they need to verify my address and that I live with my gf.

They say I need to provide proof of income.

The guy is really beating me up.

Whats the worst that could happen,

say if I refuse to provide income verification.

I don't like being treated like this.
