I un-hided the post...is that for some sort of verbal battle between me and BW? sorry to disappoint - I got nothing going on with BW....except he helped me out many times with his advice by posting his opinions when I ask questions...for which I am very grateful...and I know he definitely doesn't mind, and in fact enjoys it when somebody doesn't agree with everything he types.

Oh dear lord it was a joke! Geeeeez. Tell ya what, to avoid further misunderstanding, I just won't reply after you at all forever and ever.

Edit: Except for this one time, to post this very comment. Or if you hid all my posts, just.... don't unhide them. Kinda defeats the purpose of hiding them in the first place, no?

I guess my mind is made up...or I became a bit paranoid, and way too defensive

BTW Bob, did GGE come through this okay? Did she get a F/R also? I hope not.

Calling them today. Hope it's not too late -- they sent me the letter the day I left for the other side of the country for a week and I Only found out several days ago. Waited to call till I was back home -- I hope that doesn't hurt me!

It shouldn't, but the 5-day clock starts as soon as they send you the forms by e-mail.

So If I wanted a platinum card would it be best to be an AU on platinum or does it not matter?

I don't think it matters.

As long as you haven't burned AmEx, it's pretty much show your $450, and you're in. :D

Bob do any of your AUs have BKs that ARE reporting? Obviously they haven't burned Amex, but I'm curious if a BK would prevent AU much like it does with regular apps.

jds, I honestly don't know.

I operate under the "Don't ask, don' tell" and "Need to know" principles. :D

Fair enough. I'm fairly sure GGE had one, but I don't think it's reporting.

Good catch. Mentioned it one time only.

This would've been ca. 1995, so it most certainly would not be reporting.

Plus there was only like $4000 worth of stuff IIB. No cars, houses, loans, or even credit cards.

We were young, broke, foolish... you know how it goes I"m sure, we've all been there!

Well I can state that I got an AU on my dad's Blue card with a BK Ch 7 showing and no credit pull showing on my Equ report (Exp and TU frozen) and I had burned Amex in 1994. Now after this they did turn me down for an Amex corporate card for my employer though, so it seems the AU route is easier than on your own applying.

That's in complete contrast to my situation. I can't get an AU account, but I was able to get a corporate card, as long as the company also backed it. It seems to me there isn't much difference between a company backed corporate card and an AU (either way, they have someone else to go after), but it's been different for me.

I can get Corporate card if my company backs it, just can't get on my own credit. I think the key thing in my situation is that I did not IIB Amex last year and my burn of them is 15 years ago. They did not pull, so do not know I have BK for the AU, but did pull and see it for corporate card application.

I'm wondering if I pay Amex what I owe if it would unlock AU possibilities (and allow me to get a card in the future, once the BK falls off).

the question is, how much do you owe, jds? there was another thread where somebody wanted to pay off AmEx 3k that was included in BK...for what, a privilege of having their card? 3k?

VK

A fair question, and it's that question that is the reason I haven't decided yet whether it makes any sense to do it. I owe less than that, but it's still not chump change. I'm likely going to be doing some international travel in the next few years and I'm wondering whether the rewards might make it worthwhile.

I wouldn't do it just for the account age, though it's a nice added bonus.

jds:

AmEx wouldn't let me add you as an AU to Blue.

But I just got an e-mail confirmation that my additional Platinum card request has been approved.

SO, unless somebody has been requesting AUs on my Platinum without my knowledge...

YOU'RE IN!!! :D

Congrats!

Bob

jds, you don't show up yet under my Platinum AUs.

But, I expect the overnight update of accounts will add you tonight.

I expect your name will show up tomorrow, if it doesn't, I apologize for getting your hopes up. :(
