I am trying to find the name of a drug.....begins with an "L".....maybe something like Litrovil, or something like that. I guess one of the things it does is help to "shut off your brain" for lack of better words.....so that your mind isn't always racing.

Does anyone have a clue what this might be?

Yeah, Lithium will shut your brain down.

Never taken it in my life...but I have known a couple of people who had to take it. They were like zombies. I always thought that maybe they were over medicated, but DH says that many people who take it are heavily sedated like that.

QSM, you need to find the cause of your thoughts racing. That can indicate several different problems...what might work for one thing, might not work for another. It would be best to go through your doctor (or better yet, have your doctor recommend a good psych service) and let them suggest what might work best for you.

Maybe it's Lamictal? There's such a drug....not sure if it's the right one though.

That is an anti-sezuire medication. I know because I take it.

It is also used for mood disorders, mainly bipolar.

It's done nothing what so ever for my bipolar. Only made me crankier.

Klonopin can help with that... ok it doesn't start with L, but it has one in it.

It's also an anti-seizure medication but also works for panic stuff and anxiety.

I can't be taken off my Lamictal at all. Otherwise, it's either I have bring back my sezuires or I don't (who wants to hear about another car wreak with fatalities)? Right now, my doctor and I are talking about other meds and solutions.

Or another Antianxiolytic - Lorazepam (Ativan).

Or Lexapro (brand name)?

Not many "shut off" the brain. Perhaps the Lithium followed with Seroquel.

Are the racing thoughts from manic phase in Bipolar? OCD?
