Your father, the primary account holder on his Green, has to request that you, the Authorized User, be backdated.

If that can be done, your Member Since date on your login should change to HIS year.

Once that occurs, getting your own Green backdated should be easy.

THANK YOU!! I didn't realize my dad needed to call in to backdate me. I think I will wait until I'm with him to have him call so I can guide him on what to say from the sidelines.

Make sure you get the "right" CSR.

For many years I was told I could not backdate my AUs.

Then I started waiting till I got a nice girl on the line...

and begged.;)

Then why do you keep telling me that *I* should try it? :P

Neither physical AU card of mine even HAS a "member since" date printed on it, my login says "member since 2010", and my own brand new delta gold amex says "member since 2011"... so I'm bumping this in case anyone else is as anal as me about wanting to know EXACTLY what to do to not get told "no". ;)

Yeah, I hate being told "NO" too!

My father has called twice now trying to get my AU card backdated but no luck. We WILL keep trying though.

I just called and got a really nice young man who seemed willing to help me IF I was the primary.

Maybe your dad should call right NOW... oh wait the Delta Amex might have a different bunch of CSRs actually.

I just had him try again and he was told the original date is only for the primary cardholder, and AU's cannot have that date on their cards. So another no.....

Now it's like a challenge!

2 of my AUs were just told no to backdating of their own cards.

*I* was just told no by Card Replacement regarding backdating one of my Clear AUs to 1982.

As I said earlier, I was told for years that my AUs couldn't be backdated, but then I finally got a CSR to do a few Platinums.

The window of opportunity may be closing, BUT it REALLY depends on the CSR we get on the phone.

For some reason I thought it was much easier then this? I guess I have no first hand experience but I'm up for a challenge.:blush2:

Your willingness to self-sacrifice is laudable. ;)

If this is the case they would need to change some of their marketing materials and or disclosures. Because as it currently stands they say something to the effect "Once a member always a member"

Hummmm.... this would really suck!

Maybe the next person to have luck could get the CSR's extension or something and only share with BW and BW can hand it out on an as needed basis!

I think what were going to have to do from now on is something like South West Airlines does so their wont be a huge influx of CB members calling. Weather its to AMEX card replacement dept. or to PSECU or even Partners CU...

Now serving CB Members 0-1500 and then the following week Now serving CB Members 1501-3000

LMAO.... I'm sure some of the companies would be happy!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I would think Platinum AUs would be easy to do, since they would want to please Platinum more.

I may also be a marked man.

AmEx DOES read these forums.

That's why I was hoping to keep this backdating boondoggle on the down-low.

We'll just have to be patient, and do it slowly.

I like v8's idea of getting the name of the CSR if one is successful.

I don't even know if one can request to speak to a certain CSR, but it's worth a try.

Keep posting successes, though, so we know it's not a hopeless endeavor. ;)

I have been cogitating on the AU backdating conundrum.

I have probably erred by adding AUs too quickly.

When my Platinum AUs were backdated, there were only 3 of them on my Platinum.

When mmm got her AmEx Gold backdated, she was the third AU on my Blue.

AmEx probably got gun-shy looking at another 9 AUs on my Blue and Clear yesterday.

So, here is my plan going forward.

I am going to shut down the AU program on my Blue and Clear in October.

I will then cancel those cards.

I will apply for another 2 AmExes in January, 2012, to maximize the age effect.

I will then add one AU, and try to get THAT AU backdated before adding any others.

I will contact my AUs individually, to make sure they try to get their own AmExes this year.

At least having a foot in the door should help with approval by AmEx.

So much for the original plan of mass backdating all my AUs. :(

Why must you make me google your big words?

Edit: :o 9?!

Yes, many have chosen to hide their dubious association with this shady endeavor. ;)

Added my wife to the American Express card. She was a member since 1998, but is stuck with the "11" membership date because she's only an authorized user on my card. At least that's what the customer service representative told me.

If she has her own AmEx, with herself as primary, AmEx should backdate her to 1998.

You should get yourself added as an AU to your wife's account.

*IF* your Member Since year is younger than hers.

BUT, on a brighter note, my girl's hubby is flying this morning with...

THE BLUE ANGELS :D

From personal experience, it's amazing. Of course, I passed out for a couple seconds and I really, really wanted to regurgitate several times . . . but it's absolutely unbelievable.
