It worked!!!!! Hahahahaha!! I'm so happy! Added as an AU on a buddy's business Amex awhile back. He called in and told the CSR he wanted my AU card to have the same date as his. The call got kind of weird when the CSR brought up my personal Amex, but long story short, my personal card member since date got changed per that phone call (which was the ultimate goal anyway). Fast forward to today. My amex statement closed on 17th I think, and it made it to experian this morning and the age is there!!!! Thanks everybody and thanks so much BW!!!! Now to acquire more Amex's to bring the age to where it needs to be. What are the easiest no fee Amex's to get in you all's opinions? My current Amex is PRG, and I want to pick up two more, I think.

ETA Scores are in the 740's across the board with AAOA and new accounts being my biggest issues, although my newest account was from December. I've also got two or three recent inquiries across the board bc of recent CLI's.

I think the Delta cards are pretty easy to get.

Hilton is pretty lenient too.

Blue Cash seems to be tougher.

Somebody, not me, put together a listing of AmExes in order of difficulty.

Try searching with Google for AmEx difficulty site:creditboards.com

The last time I extracted data from the Creditpulls DB was from Jan-Aug, 2012

The ranges of AmEx approvals were

Generic AmEx 685-781

Blue Sky 640-731
Hilton 665-741
Delta 689-760
Blue Cash 690-812
SPG 710-772
Jet Blue 717
Costco 758-775
Mercedes 773

Am trudging through my credit reapir journey thanks to MUCH help form CB. Finally decided to apply for an AMX product and got the personal green card; my parents had one for as long as I can remember.

Hoping to use them to *D, I called and found out that they discharged that accoun in BR (they have been divorced, and remarried), so no luck with them on that route (would have been 36 yrs).

I only got the AMEX for two resaons, the benefit of CSR's seeing it during a manual review of credit report, and to *D to help my AAOA.

Any members willing to go the temporary AU for *D purposes route?

-------> What about adding mom or dad as an AU on my account then trying to *D? Has anyone tried it that way?

Have a very cool update to report; this will interest CBers I think.

After reading the various approaches people have taken, I opted to start off using the Secure Message Center for *D. The day after I activated my card, I began the process outlined below:

Message 1:

Hello,

I am very pleased to be back with American Express. I would like for the 'Member

Since' date/year on our new account to be updated to reflect the previous

relationship that myself and my authorized user xxx-xx-xxxx had with American Express.

Respectfully,

BF

Dear Mr. F,

You are most welcome to American Express!

I have reviewed our records and but regrettably I am

unable to locate a Basic Card in your name prior to your recent Card.

However, you do not need to worry.

Simply reply to this email with the Member Since date you

would like to have on your Card. I will submit your request to the

appropriate department. You request will be reviewed and we will assist you

appropriately.

After I submit the request, you will receive your new Card

in 9 - 12 business days with updated date.

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

N S

Message 2:

Mr. S,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Based on the previous relationship that J (SSN in prior message) and myself had,

the member since date should reflect [september] 1978. Let me know if there is

any additional information I can provide to help expedite this request.

Thanks again for your help.

Respectfully,

B F

Dear B,

Sure, It's my pleasure to help you in this matter.

I have submitted a request to change the Member Since date

on your Platinum Card.

-You will receive your new Card in 9 - 12 business days.

Your account number will not change.

-Your new Card may have a different expiration date.

-We recommend that you notify any Merchants who

automatically bill your account, to provide them with the new expiration

date.

-You may continue to use your existing Card until you

receive the new Card.

-Remember to call and activate your new Card when you

receive it.

If there is any other concern please let us, we will be

happy to help you.

Have a great day ahead

Sincerely,

B A

I redacted names and SSN for posting purposes, but these are copy and paste otherwise. The SSN I provided to them did have an AMEX account associated with that was opened in '78 and closed '04. But, I was never even on that account; I gambled that they would just reference the SSN provided (she is an AU on my current account), and *D accordingly.

As of late today, it reflects member since 1978 when I log in.

So, at least one instance of *D without ever being an AU on the aged account,

Major win or 1 in 1,000,000 luck?

And I do not know WHY it says 'Platinum Card' in Response 2, both accounts (old and new) were/are standard green.

Thank for the congratulations guys.

I really expected that approach to be the first in many steps to get it done (if it was going to happen at all); as I said, I was never officially on the old account and I believe it was discharged in BK in '04.

Stroke of luck I guess.

Maybe other members will have similar luck.

BCP here I come.

Excellent idea Bob, as I have been looking for this information for the last few weeks!

I got my own card this month, and then asked my dad about adding me as an AU on his green (which I thought dated back to 1968, but in fact dates back to 1965). After I get the AU card, I'll see about getting mine back-dated to dad's year smile.gif

I do believe I found the winner for the oldest D*...

Almost 50 years.

After she opens the account how long does she have to wait to ask to get it back dated? Does she just call customer service and ask to have her member date changed to 96 when she had her original account?

If the Member Since year did not automatically D*,

just call AmEx to have it changed.

She may have to wait 10 days before AmEx issues a new card.

Approved for BCE, came in the mail today with the "correct" date. Yay! Applied for HH right after that got "in process". Sure hope I get it, I'll be right where I want to be with those ages!

I got my Green with the updated date, waiting to see what kind of effect the 35 year old account will have.

My AAOA went up just over a year with a paltry 9 yo D*. 35 years is gonna be awesome. It hit Ex first about two days after the statement closing date and the others followed a couple of days later as usual.

My understanding is that ALL accounts (open and and closed, revolving and installment) count toward AAOA.

So if I want her member date should I become an AU then apply for my own AMEX? Do I need to remain an AU on her account until I apply?

The person I am thinking of asking for an AU has had an Amex for around 40 years, and I am in my 30s. Obviously this would help my FICOs if I was able to get *D on future Amex cards, but wouldn't that look shady on a manual review of my reports? Should I try to find someone with a member date that would have been possible for me to open (18+ years old)?

Some of my AmEx AUs have Member Dates before they were conceived.

And none have had problems with manual review? Go for the 40+ year AU?
