Wow they are really saying no to me...

My wife even had an Amex in her name with her father long ago, and they even said no to that saying the account has to be active and that the Member Since date resets if you don't have continuous membership... wtf!

are you saying she was an AU on her dad's card and now they won't backdate her?

The member since date doesn't reset if you don't have continuous membership, otherwise that would mean a whole lot of us wouldn't be getting D when we open new accounts. Does the old account report on her credit report?

It's not reporting on her account, Yea thats what they are saying "continuous membership"

Keep calling back, that's BS.

It's not BS if it was never on her report and it wasn't her card, that's why I was asking if she was an AU and it ever reported. I think there's some miscommunication going on with the poster

Applied for the Business Green card a couple of weeks ago. Never received card, did receive call from AMEX Fraud department asking if I was trying to charge gas to my unactivated card. They reissued (after 10 days per policy) and the card came, had my name on it and instead of my business name had my name again. The card also had 2012 as my member date (opened PRG last year) so I called, had them fix the business name and casually mentioned how my member since date was off, told them my credit report listed an old account opened in 2005 (AU account), he said "I apologize for that, let me get that fixed for you right away".

Logged in this morning and it said Member Since 2005!

I guess I misunderstood the poster then..

If it was never on report and wasn't their card, why would they think they had any chance at D*?

Maybe the poster can 'start over' and have their dad make them an AU again... :dntknw:

got them to agree to it,

How long does it take to get some type of confirmation other than the card in the mail? He said I should have the new card with the member date changed in 7-10 business days....

I know online it changes when you log in, how long does that take to show??

I guess I don't believe it till I see it!

Congrats!

Out of curiosity, how many calls did it take?

I'm thinking of starting a "The Master # of Calls to get D* Thread" :P

Just kidding. :D

Finally reflecting online on her account, Member Since 2003.

I think it took like 40 calls, seriously. I didn't keep count though.

I think what is happening is they are in fact "Changing policies" on this, but not everyone is a) aware or b ) remembers of the change, so you have to get someone that doesn't care, doesn't remember, or doesn't know.....

But I think the number of representatives that fall in these categories are dwindling down, thus 40+ calls to find the one gem of a rep who will do it...

I think this window of D* is gonna disappear sooner than later.

I had an AMEX in 2001 that charged off. It was never paid and strangly enough they never even sent me a collection letter or called. So anyways, after we buy a house next year and if I was lucky enough to get approved, would they back date to a charged off card?

If they'll let you back in,

D* is possible.

You will have to pay every penny you owed them first. Hope its not much.

Am trudging through my credit reapir journey thanks to MUCH help form CB. Finally decided to apply for an AMX product and got the personal green card; my parents had one for as long as I can remember.

Hoping to use them to *D, I called and found out that they discharged that accoun in BR (they have been divorced, and remarried), so no luck with them on that route (would have been 36 yrs).

I only got the AMEX for two resaons, the benefit of CSR's seeing it during a manual review of credit report, and to *D to help my AAOA.

Any members willing to go the temporary AU for *D purposes route?

-------> What about adding mom or dad as an AU on my account then trying to *D? Has anyone tried it that way?

All you need is that one CSR that can make it happen. Seems like it has happened before, but like BW said, it's probably pretty much impossible nowadays. The way I see it, it can't hurt to try, and if it was me, I would try.

Mom gave me the go ahead to AU her and give it a try.

Wonder if it will help that AMEX CS is operated [at least partially] out of a call center here in town; I actually worked there right out of high school in the AMEX department.

I have opened up 2 Amex 1 green and one Hilton Honors this year, and both of them were dated to 96 without so much as a phone call or email.

I had a previous account that was closed after a BK in 2000, and was denied a corporate card (Employer backed) in 2004.

So there still is hope with Amex.

With the recent addition of the Hilton card also dating to 1996, I will be able to close both the Cap1 cards (Opened in 2007 and 2010) without the fear of AAOA taking such a huge hit.

Got my new Green Card today. I applied through an invitation because I was planning ahead for D*. My member since date on the card is '86! Yay!!!! I forgot that my dad gave me an Amex for a school trip in high school. I guess they back dated to his open date! I turned 2 in 86!

And now the "huh?" My card only has my first name on it. I called and the CSR was as confused as I was. And for fraud reasons, they can't send a new card for 10 days. So.... I won't be using it yet.
