Keep calling and asking nicely in different ways.

Keep Calling, I keep getting a no. Calling during day time and hanging up if not a perfect english speaker.

I'm tryingt to do the easiest of Backdating possible, I'm 1997, Added my wife as an AU who has never had an Amex, once this AU is backdated i'll have her app for her own card.

What I said:

"I just received my wife's authorized user card, but the Member Since Date is incorrect, can I request you to send me a new card with my correct member since date please?" Gotten 3 NO's so far, any better "story/logic" to give them on why it should be 97 instead of '13 for my wife's AU card??

Keep asking, using different variations.

EMPHASIZE that you're asking for your WIFE's card to reflect the same Member Year as yours.

It *IS* better to wait for a native English speaker.

I don't think the overseas people have the authority to D*.

Yup i'll keep trying, any better variations than the one I'm using?

Just be polite and creative.

I'm afraid that if we post the exact successful language,

AmEx will train their CSRs to look out for it. :P

Can't really think of better ones than My wife, which is the truth, feel free to PM me :)

3 no's is nothing. It takes some people months if it ever happens. I used to call with random questions in between requests so they couldn't see in the notes that Another rep had just denied the same request.

Anyone know if there's a way to get off Amex blacklist without paying an old debt included in bankruptcy? I just found out my dad had an Optima Amex in 1997 but he's blacklisted due to including that account in his 2005 bk. He would pay it to get off their blacklist but its a very high amount(10k) so not sure if its worth it if thats the only way.

Are you sure he's still blacklisted?

Either have somebody try to add him as an AmEx AU,

or have him apply for an AmEx.

Either way, he'll find out if AmEx will take him back without repayment.

Sorry I should've mentioned that he did apply for 2 amex's today (green and delta gold) and was declied. He called in and they told him its because of his previous account with them. I wonder if they would settle AND remove him from the blacklist. Will find out.

Wow they are really saying no to me...

My wife even had an Amex in her name with her father long ago, and they even said no to that saying the account has to be active and that the Member Since date resets if you don't have continuous membership... wtf!

I was an AU on an account several years ago that never reported to the bureaus. Any chance I could get d* back to that date?

If you have the old account number, go ahead and ask.

are you saying she was an AU on her dad's card and now they won't backdate her?

The member since date doesn't reset if you don't have continuous membership, otherwise that would mean a whole lot of us wouldn't be getting D when we open new accounts. Does the old account report on her credit report?

It's not reporting on her account, Yea thats what they are saying "continuous membership"

That's...not how it works...

Man, what is it with AMEX lately? Customer Service is going downhill, interest rates are craptastic, basic features like backdating are being ignored, and they're also killing/gutting products, like the BCP reward structure change, and the complete gelding of the Zync cards...

It's like...they don't want to be in business, or something.
