New Chicken Restaurant

Flavor Flav opens his 1st chicken eatery in Iowa

CLINTON, Iowa – Rapper and reality TV star Flavor Flav is bringing the flavor of chicken to Iowa.

Flav's Fried Chicken opens Monday in Clinton, Iowa. Flav has been there preparing for the launch and told the Clinton Herald he'll visit often for promotions and even work the fryer.

Flav says it's the first in a chain that stemmed from the 99 cent wings he served at Mama Cimino in Las Vegas. His business partner is the brother of that restaurant's owner.

Flavor Flav, whose real name William Drayton Jr., founded hip-hop group Public Enemy in the '80s. He found fame anew in 2004 on the third season of VH1's "The Surreal Life." He also starred in the network's "Flavor of Love."

He has a culinary degree and restaurant experience.

In the summer of 2017 a reviewer on Yelp visited 63 different places in San Diego County that serve fried chicken, and posted this review of a KFC location.  The review included his ranked list.

This visit to this KFC concluded my "Summer of Fried Chicken," a marathon chicken-tasting tour through every restaurant I could find in San Diego County that is known for their fried chicken.

This KFC location is awful like the rest, and if you've been reading my fried chicken reviews this summer, you know why. As noted in my lengthy review for the KFC in North Clairemont at the beginning of this journey, even Colonel Sanders publicly disliked what KFC's corporate cretins did to his restaurant chain after he sold it.

ANYWAY, KFC ain't going back to the way it was... So please consider my rankings below of San Diego Fried Chicken as of September 2017:

I still feel compelled to try any place called Tiger! Tiger!

Maybe you should try the ones in East County/Ramona.  Or do your own review of KFC, Church's and IHOP fried chicken in El Centro.  El Centro is going to habe beautiful sunny weather today.

I'm sure you already frequent the Shakeys Lunch Buffet in Chula Vista

I think the last Shakey's I visited was in Sioux City, Iowa, at least a dozen years ago.

My main hag and I are targeting a trip to Ramona for the fried chicken at Marinade in September if we can make it work.

I wouldn't mind checking out Felix's BBQ in Oceanside.  I'd really want bbq chicken with Alabama white sauce but that doesn't appear to be an option on their website. How can you have Alabama bbq chicken without Alabama white sauce?

The Crack Shack has killer sandwiches, but their fried chicken stand alone is just whatever to me and therefore overpriced because it's just whatever

I don't think Sucker Free Southern Plate in the Gaslight District (as we jokingly call it) was open when he did all of those reviews, but it's apparently owned by the same people that own Streetcar Merchants (#9).

I took my parents to Sucker Free (Dad's a fried chicken aficionado, if there is such a thing).  We ordered a whole bird - HOT - and it was so spicy we couldn't enjoy it.  And we love spicy food.

The hip hop music at Sucker Free plays nonstop at about 144 dB, and there's a photo mural on the ceiling of a gang of thugs threatening you with firearms while you eat.

Music would be annoying...ANY sort of music at those levels is annoying.

Have to say that the popcorn catfish on the menu seemed interesting...another of those things that I am amazed has not made it to Texas menus.

"Sucker Free" or "Sucka Free" is a California gangster rap term, so everything you said makes sense.  Does seem out of place in The GasLamp but then again NWA The Movie was a box office hit so...

Hence the reason the PSYOPs strap loudspeakers to tanks and Humvees, especially in MOUT settings.  Loud music when given no choice but to listen is disconcerting, even more so when you can't understand the words.

One of the earliest instances of music as a psychological warfare tool was by Santa Anna at The Alamo (at least according to military textbooks).

The Germans strapped wind powered sirens to Studka dive bombers to howl as they rolled in for attacks, and British troops at Dunkirk said it was the scariest part of the entire ordeal.

Noriega got blasted with Welcome To The Jungle and I Fought The Law for days on end in his Papal sanctuary.

At Abu Ghraib the Army and the Spooks blasted detainees with the Barney show I Love You song endlessly.  Gitmo detainees got Bodies by Drowning Pool.

The Humvees were playing Ride of the Valkyries in Fallujah to start the show. It was cheesy but it got everyone fired up and let the hajis know they were about to die.

None of which has any bearing  on the dining environment...

If music is too loud, I don't dine there.  Period.  Does not matter WHAT sort of music it is.  If I go out to eat, I am looking for a decent meal in an enjoyable setting.

Actually it does have a bearing.   If it has a negative effect, how is it not relative?  What you quoted and your response are the same. LOL.
