So I've been dating this beautiful woman. Taking our time going out on dates and getting to know each other etc. I usually pay for our meals, but at this particular meal she said wanted to pay. Ok, that's cool with me.

And then.............

She pulls out an Orchard card! :huh::huh::o

I almost choked on my water!!!

I sit there trying to figure out what the annual fee is, maybe it's secured. How bad is this woman's credit!!!!!!!???

I would've preferred to see a debit card!!!

What do I do next? I mean at least it wasn't a First Premier.

In my own little way, I find out it was secured, but oh boy I think we need relationship credit counseling. I'm already in "creditholics anonymous." What next? Can this credit world get any worse?

She would be horrified if she knew how much you know about her by looking at her CC. On the other hand, maybe she had good credit and it got messed up due to a divorce or something. Happens. :P

Liz, you're absolutely correct. A lot was related to a divorce years ago.

Lawd, I hope she doesn't come by these boards.

OK, yeah, she could be a credit mess that would be a bad influence on your credit and your life.

OR

She could have made some mistakes or had some problems in the past that damaged her credit and she has faced those problems, taken responsibility for them, and is now, like so many of us here, working on changing her behavior and rebuilding her credit. Hmmm, someone who faces her mistakes, addresses her problems, works to better herself and her life. . .

Sounds like a possible keeper.

Goodness so great to see I am NOT the ONLY ONE who does this when dating! :huh:

I get the same reaction seeing Orchard, Capital One, and First Premier. As well as gifts rec'd from Kays. Dont know, just does!

:P:P:huh:

Yeah, but what it does is make the conversation SOOOOOO NECESSARY in our minds, perhaps even TOO early because we know the possible writing on the wall behind these card products. The average person [or non-CBer] will enjoy the blissful ignorance, while we are looking for the door or monkey wrench to fix IF we want to stay.

Hmmm, after my divorce, I got a Cap 1 card. It was one of the first offers I received when I bought my home and before I knew anything about the different cards. They've continued to increase my limits and I pretty much PIF each month. And I'm a GREAT catch :P - just ask my fiancee. I've continued to use it, partly because it reminds me of how far I've come.

Well ok then, the bad news is she has crappy credit. But the good news is, she apparently paid her last month's Orchard bill! I mean, no one had to wash any dishes, right? :P

Bless her heart. She's tryin'.

Add her as an AU. :)

:beee::beee::beee:

I already did! :blush2::blush2::blush2:

But it's because they were offering bonus points for authorized users. Even told them no need to mail the cards. :grin:
