Best way to get rid of a bird's nest????

It is right at the entry way, VERY high up. The only way I can think of reaching it is to spray it down with the water hose. But one guy said that may lemonade off the mother and she may attack.

 

Bird doo is all over our entry. It's out of hand.

 

Any suggestions???

Well, it depends on how you feel... If you care that there may be babies or eggs in the nest then maybe call a local wild bird rescue group for advice or help with humane removal. If the possibility of babies/eggs doesn't bother you the go for the water hose or a really long stick. Yup, momma bird may get ticked but would probably be more scared than anything.

You aren't allowed to move the nest. Seriously. We have a treaty with birds. I believe you cannot move their nest without a permit.

 

The Migratory Bird Treaty and Endangered Species acts prohibit the trapping, possession, or killing of most birds, their eggs and nests, without a permit. If you cannot positively identify the birds, consult bird authorities before you attempt to control them. Only house sparrows (Passer domesticus), starlings (Sternus vulgaris) and pigeons (Columba livia) are not protected by state or federal law. However, local ordinances may protect these birds. Be sure to check with local authorities before attempting control..

My advice would be, regardless of the treaty, to leave the nest alone for a little longer. Soon the eggs will hatch, if they haven't already, and the nest will be vacated soon enough. We have birds who nest year after year on our back porch on top of a light and we just live with it.

LOL. My wife mentioned this to me today and it blew me away. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

 

The nest has actually been there for over a year. I hadn't seen any birds there for a minute. But they just started back up over a month ago.

 

So, we are supposed to just let them stay there???

 

Maybe I will put some rice out there. LOL

I've got a bluebird nest in my newspaper box for the 3rd year in a row. There are 4 babies in it, and I really hope they all make it this time.

I think they all died. I saw at least 2 of 4 dead in both nest #1 and #2, and those remaining were way too little to fly yet. Either a cat got them or maybe they fell out of the box...and then a cat got them.

I have a birds nest in the rear of my mailbox. It's the type with 2 sections. Open in the back and a lid on the front. Mailbox is right beside the front door. My mail lady screams every time she delivers my mail 😆 It's hilarious.
