All I can tell you is that whenever I used the preapproval site when I had a dirty report I got no preapps. As soon as the BK dropped they offered me everything even the Plum on the biz side. They might burn you with 3 inqs though if it matters. I just got my card with 1 EX pull. Maybe it's a trap.

I am firmly of the opinion that sometimes Amex's right hand doesn't know what its left hand is doing.

 

From dealing with them on the corporate side, I have found that their different departments have big walls around them, and they don't talk to each other, and even their computer systems sometimes can't communicate. Not that I'd bet on it in this case.....

the BK was in 2000. 4 hards under 12 months of age on EX, one under 6 months.

You're probably correct about the Byzantine corporate structure. Just odd amex would waste money mailing to people on its house BL file.

I had a Amex CO in 1989 which I paid off a few months after closure. I didn't see my first offer from them until 2008. (I bit at the 2nd offer, which like yours was for a Gold, first year fee free, 50k MR pts, and was immediately approved.)

 

$500 in free airfaire is nothing to sneeze at ... odds are slim but I'd say go for it!!

well your bad account was paid. mine was not. I am not going to pay $3000 just for the pleasure of being able to "apply for" an amex card.

 

but if I make it onto the AU card then perhaps the BL is not as golden as I once thought.
