Ok, I BK7 last year and wanted to rebuild my credit and Montgomery Ward offered me a line of credit with them. I was approved for $250. I purchased a lot of over priced items thinking what the heck its a tradeline well two months later and no TL. I called and was told the only way they report to the CRA is if I go into collections but they don't report good history.

WTH, :D I will be paying them off this month and closing them fast...

So, for anyone out there who get a pre-approval catalog just note they do not report so don't waste your time on over priced item....

...dont know where to start with this one I wasnt even aware montgomery ward was still around
EXACTLY what I was thinking.

 Yeah I thought they went out of business in the 80's??? :cry2:

early 90's I remember my dad had a Wards card, when they folded, they pretty much sold all their accounts to a junk debt buyer, although minus the negative reporting im sure. As far as age though I've recently been going over my grandmothers credit reports at the request of my dad who is POA, and it was really crazy to see a still open dillards account that was opened in 1960. Talk about really good AAOA

That's cool.

What's the CL? If she's never asked for a GLI, you should call and see what they'd give on a 50yo account? :)

Ha! I remember that place. We bought a VCR once there when I was a kid. Whole stack of boxed VCRs but oh no no, you can't have any of those, can't just take them to the register. Oh nonono, you need to check out and get a receipt then go to the warehouse in back to get your VCR. We never went back after that.

:) I guess :)
