Inquiries from rate shopping for a car loan won't affect your score. Best to just let them age. After 6 months they have no effect at all. Are you getting ready to buy a house or something like that?

Hi Breeze Thank you for the reply.

I am planning to buy a home next year eventually. I would like to have my score bumped up by this year as I am paying off all my collections at the moment. I paid off all my pay day loans and tax liens I had. Next month I pay off my Capital One that went into Collections in full. I'm hoping to see some bumps in my score.

By next year, inquiries will have 0 impact on your FICOs. Removing all of them would not give you even 1 additional point.

Thank you and everyone else for the advice! I really appreciate it :)

No no no no no.

Paying off that stuff is not going to raise your score.

If anything it's more likely to lower it.

You need to do a lot of reading around here before doing anything.

YIKES!!!

I didn't know :(

Well I did want to pay off my PayDay Loans and State Tax Lien and they weren't that old so I needed to do that but the rest I'll send letters out to have them erased off my report.

It doesn't work that way... you can dispute them if they are past SOL (statute of limitations) in your state but they may have the papers to validate them... read about "validation of debt" and don't kick any sleeping giants...

That's why I paid off the Payday Loans and State Tax Lien first.

I still have my Capital One sitting out there which I don't know what I can do with it. I can pay it off but it's been in collections for 2 years now.

The others are very old medical bills and JDC from 6-7 years.

Any way to fudge living in Texas? Like set up a P.O. Box or something? Seems too elaborate to dump some TU inquires, but curious if anybody thinks it's possible.

It is possible :) and it's not just a matter of opinion

Because this has been repeated so many times in this thread, I didn't even try after my 17 inqs were reinserted a couple months ago. Decided to try b* after a fellow Texan reported still getting it. Sure enough, I'm back down to 7 as of this morning.

I may need to move to Texas...
Not so much for B*, but that's a heck of a nice bonus to the move... and anyplace is better than Illinois right now...

You mean you don't enjoy the high taxes and even higher level of corruption that our state has to offer?😀

Were you using a single puller?

I have been away for awhile but I have time to come back now. I noticed BW has not posted since Feb. Did I miss something?

Besides the death of B*, no.

Besides the death of B*, no.

Certain persons claim to have been in contact with BW. But all they're saying is "BW is fine, nothing to worry about -- and ignore that smell coming from the basement"

Guys, y'all want this thread closed to further comment? Some people seem intent on pushing certain themes. :D

Don't be a ding-a-ling.

And that's your edited version?

Hey Uber, welcome back! You've been missed. (I liked your AS Hall of Fame addition to Joseph's recent thread )

Hi Breeze. I'm not a huge poster on CB but I did enjoy BW's wit and wisdom. It's strangely comforting to see this thread around so I hope it will not be closed, if only for historical purposes.
