Eq & TU Bumpage are pretty much “Settled Science†now.

The “Magic Number†for Equifax is 85.

For TransUnion it is around 66.

Science is an ongoing process, and what is settled today may change tomorrow.

So, in the interests of the Scientific Process, I am requesting a central thread for data consolidation.

This way, all data is available to all interested parties, and the risk of systematic bias is reduced.

Rather than having dozens of threads asking for a count, it would be preferable to have just one.

Dr. Tang, cm2010 and I are interested in teaching HOW to count.

So, please attempt a count first, then ask for confirmation.

If we can limit this thread to just screenshots and counts, it should be educational for many.

And let’s leave AmEx out of this thread since they usually pull Experian anyway. :dntknw:

Let me see if I have this right. I'm still not entirely sure which ones count. <_<

EQ:

CIC/EXPERIAN ALRTS = 2

CREDITEXPERT (this must be CCT) = 15

FAIR ISSAC = 3

TRUELINK (I think this is TrueCredit, since I don't see that on there anywhere and TrueLink is owned by TU according to my googling) = 2

FIRST ADVANTAGE/CREDCO (this must be Credit Keeper) = 1

Total = 23

EQsofts21610.jpg

TU (the ones I think might count):

CONSUMERINFO via CONSUMER INFO.COM = 14

CONSUMER INFO.COM = 5

[me] via KARMA/TRANSUNION INTERAC = 2

AFFINION - PRIVACYGU via CREDCO (Credit Keeper, I presume) = 1

Total = 22

Am I on the right track? Thanks!

(PS - however many I have, I've only been signed up with TC since 1/22 and CCT since 1/27, so anything that I have there I've accumulated between then and now. Not sure how "good" that is just yet, as new as I am! )

Cool, thanks! So it's EQ - 21, TU - 22 then so far.

Looks like the two different CCIs are CCT and LendingTree's version of the tri bureau monitoring (also essentially CCT by the looks of it). For awhile there I was getting two per day because of those, but when I realized they were identical I cancelled the LendingTree one. But it wasn't pulling daily, it was monitoring daily, so I'm not sure what's up with that, actually... :)

From the other thread:

Hi. I need some help deciphering my CR. I've had CCT for about a month and just started MPM last week. Could some of the B* gurus please tell me how many "good" inquiries I have? Thanks!

EQ-Inquiry.jpg

27

How'd you get that, Bob?

These are the non-EQ non-prefixed ones:

AN - 1

EX - 1

CE - 19

CB - 9

FI - 3

TC - 4

Which ones count?

Still wondering...

CIC/EXPERIAN ALRTS = 1

CREDITEXPERT = 19

FAIR ISAAC = 2 (Probably only 1 counts since 12/26/09 is a repeat)

FAIR ISAAC = 1 (See above)

TRUECREDIT/COVERDELL MY = 1

TRUECREDIT/VERTRUE = 4

Total = 27 (I'm dropping one of the Fair Isaacs on 12/26/09)

CREDIT BUREAU INC. does not count

How do you see the soft inquiries? I read they only show up on the hard copy report. I could have sworn I saw them once online somewhere but I dont remember where.

You can get your soft inquiries via an Equifax backdoor.

However, pulling a backdoor MAY put you on the chopping block.

Does backdoor mean pretending to dispute information on the EQ website and it pulls up a credit report for you?

Some of us have been legitimately denied credit, so we are entitled to look.

Here's another way of looking at (and counting) which entries will help B*.

Pretend that when you use a third party (not credit bureau) service like USAA-CCMP to pull your reports, that the system recognizes it as a hard inquiry. So forget about all the other soft inquiries that you see listed. Pretend that you are putting hard inquiries on your report with daily pullers, and that once the system reaches its limit for hard inquiries, that they start being overwritten in chronological order, first in first out.

So what you are doing is identifying which entries are caused by the daily pullers like MPM, counting them up, and then adding your real hard inquiries to calculate your total count.

Of course in reality the daily pullers are not really putting hard inquiries on your report, but it seems to me the system puts those soft inquiries in the same bucket as hard inquiries, and the bucket is only so big before it overflows. It's just an analogy, a basic starting point. That is before you get into a more complex, weird zone where certain verification soft inquiries and certain hard inquiries like mortgage inquiries are in a different non-B*able category.

I've managed to b* three hards off my TU report but haven't seen squat on EQ yet

If you have been using CCT, CS, or USAA-CCMP daily for 3 months, and not seeing any credit card hards drop, you are being chopped.

I've been using CCT since January but just recently added USAA-CCMP last week. Guess it will take a bit more time to make an impact on EQ.

CCT and USAA-CCMP work against each other with Equifax.

IOW, even though you pull both, only one soft inquiry is recorded each day.

CCT and USAA-CCMP work together for TransUnion bumpage, and you get 2 softs per day.

Does Experian not do bumpage? I just did the "Backdoor" to my EX via USAA credit monitoring and "dispute online" option.

I pulled up my EX soft inquiries. I didn't count them but there must be over 100 soft inquiries. Even one inquiry from Dec 2007 (how is this still on there??)

I guess EX doesnt chop.
