ask questions in the main credit forum once you see exactly what you are dealing with

Oh really I was told to freeze them so creditor can’t pull

current creditors can still pull and freezing opts you out when in fact adding new, positive credit is an important part of a long term strategy to rebuild.

moreover, inquiries do not matter.  :)

Good evening! Just getting started on this credit repair journey.  Looking forward to reading this information! Question: I'm looking for a template for a credit dispute letter, as well as an affidavit.  Of course I will craft it to my verbiage, but I need a starting point.  Thanks in advance!

Be safe and be well!!

Check out our sample letter forum, but use care in implementation.

Welcome to CreditBoards.

New here. Hit a low point in life several years back and basically stopped paying everything. Most everything on my report is in either default or collections status with collection agencies. Some are past SOL now (I'm in Texas). Looking to get this in order and start working toward a home purchase. Seeing that some of the repair advice was originally posted 10+ years ago. Is that advice still relevant in today or has it evolved? I've started by pulling my reports from all 3 bureaus and combing through them.

You will do better to post in the main forums for more exposure.

You don't indicate if you defaulted in Texas or moved here since the default.  You DO need to be in the State for a year to gain the limitations protection outlined in the Civil Practice and Remedies Code.

Being in Texas, go find the master thread in the pinned topics that was started by WalterG and built upon work I had previously done using Texas law, which is a far superior option than federal law for those in Texas.

Make sure you have PAPER reports, not just online printouts...yes, it matters.
