My Credit is a Mess!

Recommended Posts

Here I go again! I checked my fico for TU today and my fico is 486. I'm embarrassed to post. I was discharged fr BK in 2002. I was contemplating do it again, but I read the BK forum. Totally changed my mind. The only reason that I wanted to file was to discharge very old taxes and repo judgement. I read something about keeping my car...if I'm late one time after BK the bank would take my car without hesitation even if I'm only a day late. I've never been late with my current car not, however I have been 15 days late. Anyway, I've decided to work on getting collection accounts off of my CR and figure out what to do with my unpaid taxes later. I know that my taxes aren't going to go anywhere, but if anyone has had success with OIC please share. I'm currently on Long Term Disability and am on a fixed income.

My score is based on:

9 collections (some recent medical, recent credit card charge off, AFNI for cell phone)

4 public records

2 good trade lines (auto loan, credit card)

By the grace of God I was approved for a car loan in June 2008 with over $100,000 back taxes and I have a CC from 1st premier.

I'm so depressed. I did this to myself and there's no excuses to be made!

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

Yes there is much light. Don't worry.

For the public records, are they judgments? If so, have you read whychats removal method?

How old is the cell phone debt?

1 public record is my BK discharged in 2002, 2 are tax liabilities, 1 is a recent judgement from a repo (which shows as a charge off too)

As for cell phone bills with AFNI, att was placed for collection in 2006 (AFNI keeps updating, sigh) and Nextel now Sprint was placed for collection with AFNI in 2007. The phones were delinquent in 2005. AFNI keep updating.

No I haven't read whychats removal method for judgments. Thanks, I really need some encouragement right now.

Cellphones have a 2 year SOL. It appears you are way past that, which is good.

AFNI can Buzz off.

After you read this link, get a certified copy of the judgment to review it. DO NOT send that copy to any of the CRA's.

Have you ever disputed anything, or had any old addresses/names corrected?

Do I wait for AFNI to fall off or dispute? For some strange reason, I don't think that they every go away, because they keep updating.

Thanks for the link. I'm gonna read the info.

Yes I disputed addresses and old names. Some came off and some didn't. I started my credit repair back in April then stopped, because I thought I was gonna file BK, but I'm not gonna go that route.

I really appreciate your responses. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks Lynn. It's been a rough ride for me. An abusive now ex-hubby in jail for 8 years for assaulting me. As a result I have never been able to go back to work and am on long term disability because I was just messed up! So I'm grieving, because I want my life back! I want my credibility back! My life changed the whole time I was married! Luckily by the grace of God I was able to work in a place with excellent benefits.

Sorry to vent! This is depressing!

Credit repair does NOT happen overnight, some of us have been fighting for 2 years or more!

Give up! Sure most of us wanted to give up but we didn't.

It is not going to be an easy fight I will be the first one to tell you that.

I started out with scores like yours, while I am not happy with my progress (won't be untl I hit 750) I seem to be stuck at 620, 630 and 597.

Seems like there is someone hitting me in the head everytime I turn around and it ticks me off and makes me even more determined.

I want to quit everyday, but, I think, NO ONE is going to do this for me, it is something I have to do for myself, I want my house not only for me but for my children and that is the one thing that keeps me fighting.

The bet advise I can give you is READ READ READ, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, PAPER TRAIL, PAPER TRAIL, PAPER TRAIL!!!!!!!!

Learn the FCRA, the FDCPA, HIPPA, FACTA and your local laws and statutes, Learn what the BBB can do for you, get to know your AG, and make your complaints known every chance you get through thte FTC.

Taking on your own credit repair is very very dismal, but ut is the results you get that raise your spirits and keep you going.

Attack the little things first, the ones that you know they can't sue you for.

OP, I also started out with scores like yours a year ago. We all have to start somewhere, mostly it is in the high 400's.

FOAD mean F*%$ off and die.

Also do not copy and paste your letters, Just look at the letters and re write them for you. Post them here (personal info removed) for someone to give them a look over, After a few of them, you get the hang of it.

Good luck
