We have a 30 yr fixed with Citimortgage and I just had about 2500 worth of emergency dental work done and our upcoming mortgage payment with Citi is in question now. Is it common for them to defer a payment to the end of the note or something like that? We are current right now but I dont want to mess things up if at all possible.

suggestions?

It's the adage in the mortagage industry, what to do with the borrower who has an imminent issue and will be delinquent but right now is current. More than likely Citi is the servicer and the investor is likely someone else. That investor may not allow a deferrment. Citi should offer a forbearance for the two months and then try work something out once things are back to normal, I'd call back and ask for a forbearance since they obviously won't do a deferment.
