CB Owners Posted June 4, 2008 Welcome to CreditBoards! We hope that you find what you're looking for here. Some helpful tips: Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free to reply to your post yourself, with the word *bump* in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board. If you haven't yet, take a peek at out Newbies Section. Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros! If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the TOS. Off -topic posts should go in the General Forum. Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family! MarvBear Posted June 4, 2008 Note: Do not report Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs) in this field. ITINs do not prove identity outside the tax system and should not be offered or accepted as identification for non-tax purposes, per the Social Security Administration. bosoxfan Posted June 4, 2008 Oh, they have a new name! Is that to make it sound legit? Credit PROFILE Numbers are to be issued by the CRA's. And you have to have a damn good reason to have one. Anyone trying to sell you one to "fix" your credit is probably selling you a dead person's SSN (and that would be best case scenario). It's a scam. Besides the fact that once you pay your money, if they actually give you a number to use, the new file will be merged with the old. Then you'll have some splaining to do to anyone who pulls your credit and finds two SSN's. 1 hegemony reacted to this
