I'm thinking about using this for an Experian obsolete dispute I filed.

They came back verified in less than 2 hours and had changed the date of the paid charge off to the current month.

When I called Experian, they blamed the OC.

It may still work.

Came full circle today. Apparently she really did get in touch with the BOA credit department AND EX. She informed me that the "CO" box next to January 2015 means that I filed a dispute with the cred

BS - they are liable and required to report only accurate information they are not allowed to parrot what the OC states, if their own information or documents you provided indicate otherwise - they have to perform a reasonable reinvestigation.

is it really obsolete, or just close to it?

this is a 11 year old letter, you're better off nowadays filing a complaint with the CFPB, over the OC's inaccuracy and EX failure to perform a reasonable reinvestigation, and allowing the OC to post inaccurate information.

Heard back from BOA today. Turns out, they DID report the change of the CO date.

When the woman looked it up she said I'd had a settlement in January of 2015.

Nothing has been touched on that account since April of 2009 when I paid BOA in full.

She said she needed to do more research and get back to me.

Very friendly, gave me her personal extension and everything.

Hoping they will just knock the line off, like the did with the OP, but we'll see.

What does DNU mean?

I have no idea what she's talking about, there was no settlement.

The only thing that happened was on February 3 2015, I sent them a goodwill letter asking them to delete the line, and they refused politely.

DNU, I think that's "do not understand".

Haha, I do not understand either.

I'm waiting to hear back from the BOA lady, she didn't call back yesterday.

But the "good" news is that she did accidentally reveal that BOA did in fact, report to EX incorrectly.

Just the chargeoff date, so not a big deal, but I'm trying to turn it into one.

Gives me more leverage with my empty threats now that I know Experian actually did "verify".

No dice.
