APPROVING BANK: Capital One Auto Finance
BUREAU PULLED: All 3 (TU auto enhanced score from dealer pull)

RETAIL/LEASE: Retail
AMOUNT OF LOAN: $11,200
ADVANCE PERCENTAGE:
TERM CONTRACTED: 72 months
APR/LEASE RATE: 6.2%
MONTHLY PAYMENT: $187
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: A good portion of my income isn't verifiable and I'm still rebuilding my credit post BK7, so even though I had a $2500 downpayment no one wanted to approve me without a co-applicant...except Capital One. They pre-approved me for $13K with APRs from 3.5% to 14% based on the car I selected. That really shaped my search. I had imagined buying an older car for a lot less, but of course the APRs were much higher. I found a certified pre-owned 2014 Kia Soul for $12,500 and the warranty was what convinced me to spend the extra money. This is my first auto loan and I'm thrilled with how things turned out!

AMOUNT OF LOAN: $19,580
ADVANCE PERCENTAGE: N/A
TERM CONTRACTED: 65 Months
APR/LEASE RATE: 9.49

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Had just begun working on my scores and had seen an increase of about 50 points

when decided to try and refinance my subprime Carmax Auto Finance loan which was at 19.44% with a payment of $525.

Was shocked and surprised to hear of my approval, without even being a member yet ! My report has mostly old CO with

newer CA working a bunch of zombie debt, which is scheduled to fall off within the next 12-18 months. My report also

shows one paid REPO from 2012 and one CO REPO from 2010. I have two accounts in good standing, a secured card

from Blue Sky / Capital Bank and my car loan with 16 months on time history.

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: purchased through Costco car buying program so price was below invoice. No haggling, arguing, stress, etc. The ease of buying made conversation more relaxed and friendly, which I think helped us to get a second-tier loan rate rather than 4th tier... the finance manager called the bank on our behalf a couple times and we went from 7% to 2.49% APR, which is freaking unbelievable and amazing with a 601 credit score. I highly recommend going through Costco in the first place... super easy!

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Walked into dealership and told them I had been approved by Capital One. I had received approvals in the mail but had not actually finalized with Cap1. They got me approved with Wells Fargo, Ally, TD and Capital One. I had a Capital one credit card for 7 years. I argue the score as I had others showing over 600 but who knows. Nevertheless, I am happy with the rate and will definitely refinance after 12 payments and I have a 2015 Lexus GS 350 F Sport.

APPROVING BANK Alliant

BUREAU PULLED Equifax

CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE Pennsylvania

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Applied online with Alliant before even investigating other CU rates, mostly because I felt it would be easy to deal with them and their website, and because I'm looking to do more banking there. Planning on paying this off over 12-18 months. Paid 11,500 with the Alliant check, 3,600 with a cashiers check and 71 with SPG Business card... (they said they couldn't do the 3,600 balance with a credit card so I didn't press it...)

CREDIT SCORE: 698

CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE: New York

YEAR OF VEHICLE: 2017 Sonata

RETAIL/LEASE: Retail
AMOUNT OF LOAN: $29,763
ADVANCE PERCENTAGE 100
TERM CONTRACTED: 66 months
APR/LEASE RATE: 5.9%

MONTHLY PAYMENT: $530
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Was about $1,000 upside down on my trade (not horrible considering I had 2 accidents and about 94K on the clock) and they had some amazing year end rebates of about $7K. All in I financed less than the MSRP including the warranty, GAP and tax. I was a little miffed that I got such a high rate given my score, but the finance guy said that I fell into Tier 3 with them. I initially got a rate of 7.19 for 75 months and told him I'm walking if he can't come back with something better than that. After some "discussion" he managed to get it down to what is above. I'll try and re-fi in six months and see if I can get something better.

APPROVING BANK: NFCU

BUREAU PULLED: Equifax

CREDIT SCORE: 734 (FICO Score 9 from Equifax, via NFCU)

CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE: Nevada

NEW/USED: Technically Used
YEAR OF VEHICLE: 2017 Elantra Limited
MILEAGE: 900
RETAIL/LEASE: Retail
AMOUNT OF LOAN: $21,500
ADVANCE PERCENTAGE 100
TERM CONTRACTED: 60 months
APR/LEASE RATE: 2.39%

MONTHLY PAYMENT: about $325 or so
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: My 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS sedan threw the #4 rod out the side of the block, so the car is dead and not cost-effective to fix. I decided that I no longer need to drive fun cars, I just need the best warranty. Also don't need new, just the best warranty. This happened last Tuesday, 9/5. I did my research, checked my price range, scoured the internet for local Hyundai CPOs, and found this top trim, black, practically new fleet car with 874 miles on it and all the features. 19989 everywhere that it was listed. Extra fees were doc, VTR, and CPO. I fought a little so they trimmed it some. Took a day to decide, then called NFCU in the middle of the night to get pre-approved. Walked in Thursday morning with a check, and left by 2pm with the car. I moved fast because I didn't figure something like that would be on the lot very long, and I very badly needed a car. I miss my rocket-powered rollerskate that was the Cobalt (405hp in a 3000lb car), but this thing (the Elantra) is basically a luxury sedan, writ small(er). Blind spot detection, lanekeeper assist, radar-based cruise control, leather, navi, all the buttons, etc. I'm as happy as I can be, considering the death of my Li'l Red B*tch. :(
