MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: I just moved to Las Vegas yesterday 08/04 and I went out to get a car here. I applied through Toyota Financial Services online and Honda Financial Services. I was approved for both. When I came to Toyota Dealer I found out I'm qualified for their Tier 1 rate which means zero APR and zero down for 60 months. They told me it's 699 and it's the Fico Auto from TransUnion. Good luck with your purchase

Chapter 7 file June 22, 341 hearing July 28, Open Chapter 7
Car: 2014 Honda Civic EX
Used Costco Auto Price program, MSRP of $21,880, Purchase price $18,590 plus $590 GAP
Loan App Aug. 13
Lender: Consumer Portfolio Services
Down payment: $3,000
Financed amount: $18,190
APR: 14.7 percent
Monthly Payment: $429
Term: 60 months
Opted not to take 72 months at $380 a month
Equifax Auto Enhanced Score: 577
Transunion pulled but not used: 641

I'm sure the dealer added a couple of points to APR, as the offer was for an APR of 15.7 percent without the GAP, 14.7 with the GAP. I suspect CPS APR was around 12 percent.

Will try to refi with Cap One in six months. Dealer F&I guy said he thought I could get below double digits with Cap One in four to six months.

Chapter 7 filed in Central California District, no issue in buying in No Asset Chapter 7, Trustee report on 341 hearing lists no assets, no distribution. Asked attorney three times if I needed trustee approval and was told absolutely not each time.

Dealership would have done deal prior to 341 hearing.

Slated for discharge Sept. 26.

Bought a used 2011 Corolla at 24.9 APR through Chrysler Capital in April 2013. CC is a subsidiary of Santander. Tried to get modified terms for a reaffirmation, best they would do is not lower principal at all and 20.2 APR. Called them today to arrange surrender.

Oh...F&I guy said if I had waited until after discharge, I would have probably looked at APR around 12, but I wanted to take advantage of Honda summer clearance in combination with Costco pricing.

Car: 2014 Ford Escape
Used Ford Z plan
Loan App Aug. 17
Lender: Ford Motor Credit
Down payment: $0
Financed amount:
APR: 0%
Monthly Payment: $390
Term: 72 months
Experian pulled: 751

I needed to roll some negative equity into the loan, so our z plan pricing covered the majority of the negative equity. I had just bought a car 2 years ago but hated everything about how it drove and I now drive for work and need something different. Easy transaction, great dealer interaction. No BS.

Car: 2014 Charger

Loan App Sept. 3

Lender: Credit Union 1st Financial

Down Payment: 2000

APR: 3.2

Monthly: 610

Term: 72 months

Transunion: 684

I was way negative on a Santander loan 20 percent interest rate but thank God I traded it with a 577 payment and now 610 with a way better car. 17 payments on the Santander loan just FYI.

DTI: 11.2% (INCL CAR NOTE)
MONTHLY PAYMENT: $442
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Picked up a 2015 Camry SE Sport, loaded up, $0 down, 0%, 60M term. Also, I specifically asked for my Auto-Enhanced FICOs & they only used TU - no 2nd Pull needed to seal the 0% financing. No money down, FREE money to payback, who can complain about NO INTEREST? Furthermore, I was actually kinda surprised about the Auto-Enhanced given my last auto loan dropped off all 3 CRs due to age (10 years). I also have NO open Installments, about all that was "scoreable" were past installments (Personal & Student Loans) as well as 3 Mortgages (7 years/9 years old, paid/closed/NL) along with current Mortgage. AAOA: 12 years; UT%: 6%; DTI: 11.2%, NEVER thought I'd get as high of an Auto-Enhanced in the absence of an Auto Loan so this goes to show the AE FICO gives weight - in my case MORE weight - to the closed installments/mortgages along with 1 open mortgage. With the 7 CC's, not sure how much weight went into those either but the Dealership pretty much consistently said it's the Mortgages/Installments that likely made the AE FICO higher than the Classic FICO. Either way, FREE MONEY & $5,500 CASH-BACK IS A GREAT DEAL!!!

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Auto Approved in 2 minutes. No docs required other than Driver's License and Insurance. Simplest and Fastest transaction I ever had at a car dealer. Did all of my homework online ahead of time and had 3 dealerships email me their offers for lease as well as purchase before I stepped foot in the dealership. Negotiated with dealer in my town via email first using the lowest offer that was emailed to me. Saved $2400 off of their initial offer which translated to a $40/month savings.

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Was still paying a note on my 09 Impala when the transmission went out. GM only offered to assist 60% because I wasn’t ‘loyal’ enough. Didn’t want to risk something else major going wrong so I decided to pull the trigger. Would not accept less than what I owed on a trade and was able to get my full amount plus a little extra. Includes GAP insurance. Very high utilization but no late payments or negatives on report. Chose not to open up a checking account to save ½ %. Received a message once loan was funded that stated if I pay before or on the due date consecutively for 3 months, they will reduce the interest rates by ¼ % up to 1.5%. I was considering re-financing once I paid down some debt at tax time but someone hit my car less than 72 hours after I drove it home. He was unlicensed but the truck was insured (mommy dearest) so I will fight tooth and nail to have them total it out. I don’t have time to try to fight for diminished value etc. Bittersweet…

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Finance guy said I was Tier 4 due to previous charge offs (6+ years old) and told me I should give them a perfect score on the customer service survey for getting me to 0.0% anyway. I am not impressed with the customer service that tells me I owe them one, especially since I had made it clear from the get go that I had borderline credit and that I was only interested in this car at 0.0% or otherwise I would use my 1.99% NFCU rate and go to Ford, who had larger cash rebates.

APPROVING BANK: NFCU, around 10/12/14
BUREAU PULLED: Equifax
CREDIT SCORE: 655 (EQ 04)
CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE: WI
NEW/USED: New
RETAIL/LEASE: RETAIL
AMOUNT OF LOAN: 24K blank check approval for new vehicle
TERM CONTRACTED: 60 months
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Surprised to get such a good rate with Navy. I thought this would be my "starter rate" and was thinking I would refinance with DCU in a few months when I hit 675, but when I saw this I knew I would not even bother since I am happy with my existing NFCU relationship and didn't want to manage another checking account just to save 0.5%
