Just got F/R today. Amex called me up at work. They want my tax records for 05. No biggie, right?

I think I hit the LUV button too much.

How about HELs and HELOCs and maybe DTI?

And I like geographic area too - MD median income 36k, median home price 300k+. (not actual numbers but they're in the ballpark)

They are picking Bad customers, Bad to them are customers who they aren't making any money off of. If you are using AMEX to flip balances and get low APRs and not really spending any money with them They consider you a bad customer..

"IF" that would be a FACT they can just send you a letter stating that on 09/01/07 your account(s) are going to be closed

Please pay as agreed

DON'T CUT THE PEOPLE OFF WITH-OUT NOTICE AND ASK THEM FOR THAT FULL RECTAL EXAM

you don't have to agree for the Financial Review. You can at the point of them calling you say I decline, close the accounts and be done with it.

That is the case...people with 200K in available credit get offered the Titanium Card. You can't ask for it they offer it to you. It seems from all of the responses the victims of this review are AMEX newbies (less than 5 years of credit history) and multiple lines OR long timers with high credit extensions and no real reason for it to be that high. All most all the cases have really, really, really low utilization. that's a huge red flag with AMEZ.

AMEX wants to make money they are notorious for charging for cards and had to be pulled kicking and screaming into the fee free credit card game. This whole FR onslaught is not that surprising.

This poll needs a "Have you been F/R'd by Amex, Yes/No, if Yes Proceed"...

**ONLY** IF YOU HAVE BEEN F/R'D BY AMEX, maybe we can get a snapshot

This doesn't say anything close does it???

No, it doesn't...because we don't see the actual numbers of Amex cardholders who HAVE NOT been F/R'd, only a single data point of cardmembers that have. It needs to be a seperate stickied poll, a simple Yes or No, if you're an Amex cardmember, have you been F/R'd. That could be combined with this data. So we could see something like..."Ok, out of 600 Amex card holders on CB, 60 have been F/R'd" (or something like that...I just made up those numbers).

To further illustrate my point, when I say something like, "There were over one thousand airplane crash deaths in 2005.", it seems like a lot...until I remind the reader of the fact that hundreds of millions fly on planes every year.

I'm not suggesting that this F/R phenomenon isn't real, but we need a more complete picture of what's actually happening.

I have the feeling it's pretty simple.

How much credit with AMEX 0---10

10- 25

25--50

50-100

100+

Most cards won't go over 25,000 --- 50,000 without financials, Maybe if your over 50,000 your F/r is coming.

we need a control group

donno about the F/R, I've had accounts shut off after a few days of usage for them 'not being able to verify my identitiy' I told them if they didn't know who I was they shouldn't have issued the cards, and if they don't think I'm me, then I guess *I'm* not responsible for the debt. I never did pay the balances heh

Opened a Blue from Amex with a 4600 line of credit. I carried a bal on the card for a couple of months but made signifigant pymnts like 750 to 1000 pymnts every time. I have only a 2600 bal and they lowered my line of credit to 2800. I called and they said a recent derogatory claim had just gone on to my credit report. I have never been late and been an excellent customer with them. After talking on the phone with a credit rep from amex he basically said we are a lending institution and dont really care. I adv him to close the card out and willnotify everyone I know not to do business with them....He basically said he doesnt care and ended the call!

I was pissed.....

I had a $20k limit with In LA Amx and they kept lowering my balance for no reason as I was paying the card down. It was at $18k a year ago and now it is at $9k and they have lowered it every 6 months making sure I stay at 100% utilization! Between them and GE Money they are killing me! They told me I was not paying the account down quick enough? What!! I have never had a late payment with anyone in 3 years! They did the same thing to my Clear card and I told them to close it and paid it off that day. It is almost like they want me to have a crappy credit score!

Hey Gang!

I was absolutely amused when I went through this thread. It's not until now that I have realized that consumers have no clue as to what a financial review is. What is more amazing is the fact that not 1 of you even hit close to what triggers a financial review or what amex looks for....wow....

So you've been asked for 4506-T/bank statements/paystubs/tax returns/1st born child ;) and you still have no clue what you did....or is it what you didn't do.....

Mister Anderson

Why don't you explain it to us so all of us uninformed consumers are as smart as you think you are? What makes you think that they must have done something to have a F/R? Not always the case genius.

you were too agressive with Anderson.. Why?

I also believe that some card members do not say their whole story..

amex is not so stupid.

But if finally it is, i will start to forget my 3 credit cards home (blue cash, blue, one)

The truth is, that it s not wise ro build your credit kingdom on the Amex, BOA, chase.

Use them all, but do not trust them for the next day.

Not that I need to answer you, but I don't appreciate the tone in which his post was made. I don't appreciate his basically calling members here liars and stupid. Is he a friend of yours? I don't really appreciate your comments about members lying as well. What reason do people have to lie about it after they've been honest about all past problems?

Nek, you might want to peek at the title under each person's name before you correct them. Unless you have another ID< you're just way too new to be telling us how to run this site, and how to talk to other members.
