Well....I filed for BK 7 back in late 2012 and it was discharged March 2013. A few months later I was received an offer from First Premier. So I applied over the phone and to my surprise I received an unsecured card with a $700 CL. The reason I was surprised is because I had a card with them a few years ago that I defaulted on. Needless to say, this time I was on a mission to stay on the straight and narrow. At that time my credit score was in the mid 500s. I carried a balance close to the limit for probably the last 5 months until it clicked in my small brain as to why my credit score wasn't moving. With my divorce close to being over and work drastically improving that card currently has a 0 balance (for the past month). In addition about 6 months ago I applied for a Capital One (approved for $300 initially). That card has a 0 balance as well and I recently received a $200 CLI (up to $500). Again, not a huge credit limit, but I also had a card with them a few years ago which I also defaulted on.

Monday of this week I went to a jewelry store and purchased financed a watch ($1,100) for 12 months no interest. I will have it paid off in 6 months at the latest. I could have actually paid cash for it, but I want to continue to improve my credit score.

Last night I applied for a Barclay CC online and to my surprise I was approved for $1,500!!! I know it's not much, but I haven't had a credit limit like this in some time. It really makes me feel proud of myself for all of my efforts over the past year plus. The card that I originally applied for was a rewards card, but after put some further thought into the matter I called the credit analyst line and had the upgrade my card to one which offers 15 months interest free on purchases. Which approved and allowed me to keep my same credit limit.

My scores now range from 620-640 depending on which CRA you look at. My goal is to get a Discover It card around Spring time of next year. I had one before with a 5k limit and let it default. I know.....shame on me!!! However, I can't change the past, so no sense dwelling on it!!! I can only learn from my mistakes, not make them again and strive to be better in the future, which I am determined to do!!! Best of luck to you all!!! It's encouraging to see others striving for the same goals as myself.
