BKernsie5
Hey all, I was referred to this site from a different message board. A ton of info here but I have no idea where to start. A little background: My situation is not that bad but want to clean it up while I have the chance ( and before child # 2 arrives). We have 3 cards with about 15G but the rates are through the roof on 2 cards. I'd like to get those 2 cards down to near nothing & have about a year to do it. I'm trying to figure out the best course of action to do this but am overwhelmed by all the info on this site. Any help/ direction would be appreciated. Thanks. Karazzy
HELLO ALL, My Husband and I are new on the boards. 2007 brings us the year to throw away all credit cards (we are keeping AmExp and our MasterCard tied into our debit acct)!! We have been very proactive in canceling all cards...writing to them requesting that they CLOSE the account. We had too many revolving accts. They were paid off but we have been told too many revolving accts is not good. We have put blocks on our credit reports to stop them from posting what cc companies have been sending us appl..from Captial One to Bank of America to Discover to Chase to Citi!!! We have allot of cleaning up to do and have allot of college bills as well.....!!! Where on these credit reports do you find your SCORE??? We have a report from Trans Union and Experian!!! I did not see a score for us.

I hope I am doing this right, but I did a couple things, went to www.myfico.com and got a free trial and it is the equifax score (but canceling it before the 30 days) I paid for my scores with experian and transunion, at their sites. It was like 4.95 I believe. Janie
wjanie74
Hey all, I was referred to this site from a different message board. A ton of info here but I have no idea where to start. I'm trying to figure out the best course of action to do this but am overwhelmed by all the info on this site. Any help/ direction would be appreciated. Thanks. Where to start: Newbies Start Here ( on main forum page) read the awesome info, it may take days and nights and days and nights to read and re-read but its such amazing info, and is so helpful, I have been finding all kinds of stuff, also while I was and have been searching this site out, I found that at the bottom of the "Newbies Start Here", section (scroll down) it has a box on bottom right side that says topics, there are sample letters, and many many different topics there, BUT I would read the newbie section, I got this info from a friend too, and of course I was in a rush to get started and paid off a few bills, that I may not have had too, and also it may hurt me later I hope it doesnt ) but it may, so really read the newbie section, it helps us that dont know how or where to begin. To get a copy of your credit reports go to www.annualcreditreport.com and you can get all 3 there for free once a year. GOOD LUCK
wjanie74
Thanks so much for the welcome. I already feel at home. There is so much to learn here. I've been bouncing all over the board reading posts. This is becoming addictive! I soooooooo agree, I have been here alot too, up til 6am the last few nights reading and reading and this site is the greatest, I just wish I found it alot sooner. I do have a question for someone though, what do you do when you get a letter from an attorney for a credit card that you closed the account for, and the bill at that time was 200, went way up to 400+ even after making a payment due to high interest i believe, now is over 800 dollars, I didnt know if we can send them letters like the ones in the letters area? Please help? You all have already helped me out so much. My scores right now are 526 experian and transunion, and 557 equifax, I have less than 2000 dollars on my report and a good credit card and good loan and another good credit line, the bads are a few old utility bills, and 2 bankruptcies from 1998, and 2000 which I never followed through on, and shows dismissed on my report, why are they there if I never followed through with them? Thanks all for this site, Janie

hotmama973355
I am new to the boards and trying to clean up my credit from a bad divorce. I have two questions my first how do I see what information the chex system has I went to get a new bank account and they said there was one item in the chex system. They didn't say what that there was. How long does it stay and where can I find the address for them? My second question is after reviewing my credit report I noticed there are quite a few names errors on my credit report as well as addresses one of them is my ex-husbands new address. Writing to correct those items will that make my credit report look a little better. I have been trying to get an apartment but they keep turning me down they say because of credit what does my credit score have to be before they will let me rent an apartment.? I need help ASAP. I tried to post a question but I kept getting an error message. Any suggestions?
2Logical
I'm new to the boards. I am currently 27 and have not had any credit since I was 18. Getting ready to buy a house, I finally got into looking into my credit report. I have utility bills that I never got the last bill when I moved, payments missed and everything. It looked bad. I have been paying everything off and luckily after it was paid, they removed it. Now for the Final 3 and hopefully I can get some credit. #1. Capital One Auto Finance - $6000 Charge Off #2. Student Loan - $5000 Never Late // Perfect #3. Collection (Woodcliff Estates) - $2500 (Fraudulent, but can't seem to fight it)
