*waves* Hi everyone!

I received a letter from "Howard Lee Schiff" out of the blue last week, claiming their 'client' approved a lawsuit against me. This is debt that I'm aware of and tried in good faith to pay, but the original creditor--GE Money Bank--refused to work with me (even hanging up on me a number of times). Go figure, when I have the money and am willing to pay up, they ignore me. When I don't have the money, they sell the debt to someone else who comes after me.

So I searched on Schiff's name and this is one of the sites that came up. Hoping I can find some advice on this as well as quickly rebuilding my (newly trashed) credit score.

Just thought I should back up and go through all the "Start Here" steps -- been lurking and meandering through this info off and on for quite a while. So...Hi, CB Peeps!

First, you guys ROCK. This is like a 12-Step Program (or in my case, perhaps 142-Step) for those with less-than-desirable credit. And you guys are so incredibly awesome for Paying it Forward!

I feel like my brain is mush, and the compulsion I feel to consume info from these forums has me feeling like I'm chasing some illegal/illicit substance! LOL...information OVERLOAD.

But I've made significant progress already, and some of it I didn't even intend. For instance, in my obsessive daily pulling of my reports on EC (to check for any effects from my DVs) landed me in B*-ville. Honestly, I really was a skeptic on the B* issue, since I was so new and it seemed so complex. But dumb luck got me there...down from 15 to 1, but there are 12 softs between me and that last one. Fingers crossed that I don't end up on the C* Block. I can feel it in my bones, though, that I'm gonna end up there.

Anyway, I'm hoping to refinance an auto loan that I was GRATEFUL to get financed for 10% in December 2012, but that rate still costs me A LOT of money in interest. And I hope to stop renting and purchase my very first home sometime next year.

Thanks so much for being here for us Newbs...Happy Score Elevating! :clapping:

I would like to get information about paying back a student loan through GCSERVICES. The loan is accrued $12,000.00 in interest 20 years of default status.Do I have other options and getting interest reduced or dropped? The company seems a little shady to say the least. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely,JERRYJACK P.S THEY HAVE TOLD ME I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT THEIR "REHABILITATION PROGRAM."

I found it about a month ago, while searching 'HOW TO REBUILD CREDIT' on Google. I love this site, and find myself reading & navigating it at least a couple times a week.

Thanks for all the great info. You're doing a great service here for so many people.

and ... Breeze ~ I recently moved from Maui, to Texas ~ You're beautiful picture is torturing me as I'm melting at 4am here in Texas! ACK! :swoon:

I found this site by googling 'credit repair forums' almost 2 years ago. This board gave me some confidence to begin tackling my credit issues. Since I joined my credit score has gone from the 530's to around the 670 range. I started with a 300 limit Cap1 Card, now that's at 2k and just opened Chase Freedom 2k, and BOA Cash Rewards 1k, CLI on activation to 2k. Thanks CB!
