  1. You too may get your Disco on, after all?
  2. Post 'em! Here's to a rewarding 2018.
  3. OCCU is so amateur that they take pull your credit when you apply for a credit card, then reject you for not being a member. Couldn't they check their membership records first? http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=524066&p=4977008
  4. First, thank you Credit Boards. It has been a long road for me. Not proud of my previous credit history, I messed up with most of the big financial guys and for pretty large amounts (60k plus in cc debt) around the same time as many on this board in 2008-2009. Including a 300k foreclosure. I never did file a BK. I was only sued once. I have learned valuable lessons through all of this. Today I did my first app spree, decent cards. I applied for only what I wanted and some of these were on my list of charge offs way back when. Low initial limits here, but hopefully will see some CLI in the future with minimal use and PIF. Any advice or comments for anything I did or didn't do is always appreciated. Barclay Arrival Plus - got 30 day notice, immediately called and got a credit analyst who was very helpful had questions on why I only had 2 years of revolver history and started me at $3,000 Citi Double Cash - $2,000 automatic approval from letter in mail. I burned citi for probably 20k back in 2009 so not blacklisted anymore I guess AMEX Gold Card - got 50,000 points with $1,000 spend in first 3 months automatic approval AMEX Blue Every Day Cash - $1,700 limit automatic approval BOA Cash Rewards - $2,000 limit automatic approval I foreclosed on 300k home in 2009 they were the mortgage holder but I don't think they would know that when applying for a card, just using it as a data point for someone else maybe. DISCOVER IT - $6,500 limit. Had them pull TU while on customer chat. EQ is froze and so there was an initial problem with an approval they were happy to pull whatever I wanted on the chat. Chase CSP- got 30 day notice, had several cards pre-qualified for on their site and am a current long term banking customer. I did default on a cc with them in 2009, but they never cancelled my banking accounts. Not really holding out hope but will call Monday or go into the branch. I have 2 other revolvers both capital one $3,800 Platnium and $4,000 QS1. They are both a little over 2 years old. I have gotten decent CLI for both over the last couple of years and will continue to do so. Started with credit steps at $300 limits. I have no toy cards, only toy limits as you can see with what I got approved today. But at least it's a start back in with the better banks. Again thank you CB
  5. Hello, I have 8 credit cards right now. total avail credit line is $6650. Looking to grow Came from high 500s to just a tad over 700 in a little over two years. Kindly read on , please read on, if interested!!!! (This stuff gets me jazzed up, lol and feels good!) Id like to increase the number of cards/lower credit utilization and get some sign on bonuses, by adding some top shelf credit cards and CLIs Below are my scores, after BK7 was discharged on 3/2016 CREDIT KARMA 8.4.2018. Shows 714 from Trans Union. Experian National Equivalency Score or vantage score 3.0.... Experian on CREDIT KARMA shows 696 CREDIT SESAME shows 719 on 8.1.2018 CAPITAL ONE shows ..VANTAGE SCORE 3.0 710 on 8.01.2018 on Trans Union Info DISCOVER shows 665. 7-21-2018 fico score 8 from trans union (I do need to figure out difference between FAKO, vantage score 3.0, credit karma and credit sesame, and FICO score 8 which I am figuring is the one lenders trust most...still learning and reading) I have 2 car loans with NFCU at 6.69 percent at 60 months... 8500 used car and 23000 on a refinance of Capital One auto loan that was 10.9 percent! Yay! Lower rate and monthly payment. 🙂 Also I have a secured personal loan with NFCU balance at 2700 HERE ARE MY REVOLVIN CREDIT CARDS Capital one. 500. Balance zero secured TD bank 900. Balance zero secured The following are unsecured Capital one QS. 500. Balance zero Credit 1. 900. Balance zero Target. 200. Balance zero NFCU 2000. Balance zero Open Sky 200. Balance zero Discover 1450 balance 1430 My plan is to cancel the Credit One and the Open Sky , as they are low level cards. Then, ask for CLIs on the Capital One cards and the NFCU master card Open new NFCU visa Premier Open Walmart Card Open Amazon Card Open Amex Card Open new Capital 1 QS and Platinum Cards Considering BOA and Wells Fargo cards as well Would like to get a Marriot Rewards or SPG card before they combine in late August. I hesistate with these due to involvment with Chase. I did have Chase after me from a card not paid long ago....put it was finally paid to a CA (i know bad move.... I didnt know how to contact Chase via mail, every time I called they transfered me to CA. I should get docs of PIF from CA, they owe me that) So, before I go on an APP SPREE, wanted to ask here if I should go for A) App everything above, or just little by little. (NFCU and Cap 1 CLIs, and Walmart Card hopefully getting high limit) Thoughts? Thank you, and yes the plans and path I have been following so far, although not perfect, was thanks to you folks. A year ago I was at 625 and below, and could not get NFCU car loans. Now, credit life is much better! Looking forward to continued growth! Thanks! credit-credit

    Petal Credit Card

Has anyone gotten one yet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Need easiest to get credit cards with a 754 fico (transunion), followed by the more difficult to get CC's and so on: Goal is to get as many credit cards as possible with the highest credit limits possible. Stipulations: 1) Must have no annual fee. 2) Only non-secured cards/cards that do not require a deposit. 3) We want the cards with the highest credit limit, but will take anything. 4) Store cards/gas cards etc. ok. The reason why i want the easiest to get first, followed by the more difficult and so on is i don't want to waste inquires on cards that i'm less likely to get.

    Petal Card, Starter Card

Link: https://www.petalcard.com/ It's been popping up in my Facebook feed. It has no annual fee and isn't a secured card but looks to be open for individuals with lower credit scores since you give them login information to your bank account. They can then keep tabs over there in approving and maintaining your account. Of course if you open a credit card, let's say with Bank of America, and you already have your primary checking account with them, they already know what's going on over there. I have no plans on applying but it could be an option for others.
  9. So I was approved and opened a CapOne Secured back in Feb, $849 deposit for 1k limit (max allowed). The first statement cut 3/15. I have two questions: I would like to get the QS1 card and I've been waiting the 6 months to apply as people have mentioned. Do we know if its 6 months from the date opened, or is it after the 6th statement has been cut? Next question: Does anyone have an idea of which FICO scoring model they use when applying? Reason being is my FICO scores vary a lot between the different FICO models (as we all are aware) For example here are a few of mine: FICO 08's: EQ 623; TU 602; EX 586 FICO 5/4/2: EQ 575; TU 514; EX 546 FICO Bankcard 8 : EQ 620, EQ 580; EX 567 FICO Bankcard 5/4/2: EQ 574, TU 488; EX 489 My derogs are a few old CO, all past SOL except one (Discover) making my UTI looking crazy high; and 1 PRA collection (past SOL). The good is I have 3 secured cards all showing zero bal and perfect history (opensky open 1.5yrs; CapOne 6mo, Citi 6mo); Auto Loan open 1 yr; PenFed secured loan hack open 1.5 yrs. As always I'm super appreciative of any input. Grateful for everyone's contributions to CB. Thanks.
  10. I've just recently joined both credit unions. My goal is to pad my high utilization and eventually use their balance transfer offers if it makes sense to do that. Credit is about 685 and utilization is about 85%. I don't have any inquiries for a couple years so don't want to do any hard pulls. Which of their products only use soft pulls? I've read conflicting info. How should I go about using both these CUs? Since I just joined, I figured I would wait at least a few months to do anything and then I was hoping to apply for any of their products that only require soft pulls, if they have any. When I'm ready to do a hard pull next year, I was going to apply for CLOC and CC cards from both CUs but not sure if that would mean 4 hard pulls or only 2. And not sure if I should do them the same month.
  11. I had been receiving offers in the mail from U.S. Bank for the past year but I just blew them off even though they are my main bank and they are just down the street. Also, because I hear that they are conservative and offer low limits. So I was using the US Bank pre-selected site this weekend even though I knew even my FAKO's were still not good (my best was EQ with about a 640). I sent off my information and it gave me a screen with three pre-approved cards, the FlexperksSelect+ AMEX, Cash+ Visa Signature, and the Visa Platinum. All were listed with a fixed interest rate offers at 19%. Middle of the road I guess according to their web site. I was excited, but this happen to me before with Citi and I was ultimately denied. So, I said what they heck I haven't applied for anything in a while as I am trying to get my scores up. I asked to do balance transfers from my high interest Cap1 card and clicked submit where I got the 7-10 day notice. I also stepped on over to PSECU and figured if I was going to blow a couple inquiries I may as well do it on the same day and see what they have to say too. I again assume that they are conservative with collections based upon the reviews here. So today I get an email from US Bank saying I was approved. Woohoo! Now I assumed it was just going to be for about $500 as this is what I consider my first retail bank card in a decade. So I call to see if they can tell me what my limit is and see if I can get that balance transfer for 0% started. This wouldn't cover the Cap1 balance but every penny counts. So I am of course asking the rep the details and she says I was approved at 18%. Cool, that's nice it came down a point. Then she tells me the limit...flippin $7500.00. Inside I was pretty happy. So now I can balance transfer everything to the 0% til 12/31/19. So I hear from PSECU today and they too approve me for another $3500.00. This was a good weekend, my utilization just got better as I ended up with over 10k additional credit this weekend. I don't know how this happen but I am thankful.

  14. My younger brother is a senior in college and now that he’s facing the adult world when he graduates next year, he’s looking to start getting his credit in order. He has one student Chase card that he got a couple years back, but ideally he’s looking to app for a mix of some regular, albeit no annual fee, cards. He has tax returns for 2016 and 2017, but they only show a few thousand in gross income from when he worked at a bar over the Summer. Would it be worth it for him to apply for non-student cards with such a low income, or should he app for the student cards exclusively in the hopes of having them converted in the future?
  15. Within the next two weeks (give or take a few days), I'll be relocating from NYC to Las Vegas for a new job. Gross salary increase is ~25K. Right now my credit is okay (TU FICO 8 is 769 as of 7/27). Before some balances hit because of the relocation, I'd like to take advantage of it. namely a car, which is almost require there, and a liability here. I've been window shopping at Carmax and am pretty much set with what I want, so I'm tempted to start the pre-qualify process through them, but I'm wondering if it would be a mistake to represent my life a couple of weeks ahead of reality. I have several thousand in cash at the moment (yes, I am historically irresponsible) and I will be getting roughly another $15K after separating from my current job, but I'm not keen on paying down card balances a lot until I can cover the down payment and whatever other necessities that pop up with the cash. also I realize Carmax may not be the ideal financer so I'm open to suggestions but I must confess I've never bought a car before and I also need to hit the ground running so I may be vulnerable to quick decisions.

    Apple - Direct Capital

Has anyone applied for financing/lease with direct Capital for Apple products? If so, how long did it take to get approved and what did your credit file look like? Thank you in advance for your insight!

    Lender advice

Hi Folks! looking for a small personal loan around $5,000 based on scores alone. No income verification. Anybody have any advice? My scores are around 740. I could probably just do a BOA deposit from my card and then just pay it off before the term for zero interest, but not sure that's a great idea? It's for a camper. Want to pay half and finance half from private seller not a dealership. Don't want to have to verify income.
  18. Thanks to this board, I got in with NFCU just over one year ago. I was told to be patient, and my measly $1,700 Cash Rewards approval became $5,000 less than six months later. Two months ago, I was approved for a $7,000 Platinum card. Through all of this, I have been denied 3-4 times for a CLOC. Never a counteroffer. I never understood why. Never a problem with any of my accounts--I cherish those puppies! A few months ago, I even switched my direct deposit, making Navy Federal my primary account. Was still denied! Yesterday, I decided to call and try for a CLOC. I was asked how much I wanted and I said I didn't know (!), "10,000?" Guy says apply for what you want but I wouldn't apply for more than I expect to use. So I panicked and changed it to $5,000. Instant approval. Now, I 'm kicking myself wishing I'd asked for $10k. Should I call on Monday and ask for increase? What would my argument be? Truthfully, I have little intention of using the CLOC. But the utilization buffer would be a big help. And you never know! Any suggestions?

  21. It has been more then 91 days since I have asked for a cli on my wifes Amex but she just got a $3k boost in her cl yesterday. My question is can I and should I ask for 3x ($25k max) cli as well?
  22. I've had My Wayfair, Hsn and Victoria Secret accouns for 1 yr and 6 months and no auto cli on any of those accounts. I'm not familiar with the luv button but to be clear if I click the "request credit increase" button it won't result in a hp? When I click that button it's requesting my annual income is that normal?

    Business Credit

I started my business about a year ago but only recently did i begin to be interested in business credit. I read a lot of posts mostly from 2-3 years ago about net30 business credit accounts. i decided to get my feet wet. I was able to get an immediate net30 account with Quill and Uline. I made an order with Grainger and will make another couple of orders and check them in 90 days to see if they will give me a net30 account. I got a partially secured BP card and an Edge (Pilot/Flying J) fuel account. I'm also using Monopolize Your Marketplace and Jason Adams Transport for my beginner credit. I'll keep tabs and come back to make updates...
  24. Wells FargoWells Fargo is launching a new rewards credit card, a revamped iteration of its Propel Card. The card will earn 3x points per dollar spent on dining, transit and travel, and streaming services, and 1x point on everything else. Points can be redeemed at 1¢ each toward cash, gift cards, travel, or more. The new Propel will have no annual fee. The card directly competes with premium products like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, although that card potentially offers a higher redemption value. Applications for the new Propel will be available on July 16. If you're interested in opening a new card or earning a sign-up bonus sooner, read our guide to the best credit card rewards, bonuses, and perks currently available. Wells Fargo is announcing a new rewards credit card today that will offer one of the more compelling rewards programs available, taking direct aim at the premium products offered by issuers like Chase. Despite offering a robust rewards scheme, the card will have no annual fee. The card is a re-launched version of the bank's Propel Card, which was available in the past, before being closed to new applicants in February. Current customers of the original Propel will be converted to the new card and benefits automatically. In what seems to be a direct assault on the popular Chase Sapphire Reserve, the new Propel card will offer 3x points per dollar spent on the same categories as that card — specifically, dining, including restaurants and bars, and travel, which includes bars and restaurant delivery services. Additionally, the card will offer 3x points on streaming services, and 1x point on everything else. The Propel Card, while issued by Wells Fargo, will run through American Express' payment network, and will consequently offer a number of purchase protections and offers through Amex. Points are redeemable for 1¢ each toward cash back, gift cards, purchasing travel, or more. In this area, the Chase Sapphire Reserve carries an advantage in spite of its annual fee; points from that card are worth 1¢ as cash back, 1.5¢ toward travel purchased through Chase, or a variable value when transferred to frequent flyer partners— potentially well over 1.5¢ each. Despite the relative redemption limitations, the Wells Fargo offering remains a surprisingly strong contender from a bank that's been less of a major player in the rewards space, and a valid option for consumers looking for a more straightforward rewards program than what Chase offers. "Points can be redeemed for travel, gift cards, charity donations, or cash back at a rate of 1 cent per point, so effectively you'll get 3 cents per dollar spent on travel, dining, gas and streaming services," said Brian Kelly, Founder and CEO of travel and credit card rewards website The Points Guy (a partner of Business Insider). "That's a solid return, especially for a no-fee card." According to Bev Anderson, Wells Fargo's head of Cards and Retail Services, the card's rewards program was designed directly based on customer feedback. "We sat down with a diverse group of customers, including millennials and older generations. We wanted to understand what they like about their cards today, and what they want to see more of" said Anderson. "We built the Propel around the feedback we received, and planned a product for sustainability." While the Propel does not allow you to transfer points to frequent flyer programs like the Chase Sapphire Reserve does — which can be a more complicated redemption method, but can also allow customers to get outsized value for their points — the simplicity of redemption is expected to appeal more to customers. "We're continuing to innovate, and the ability to transfer points, as well as other features, is in our potential roadmap," said Anderson. "In the meantime, we believe customers will enjoy the ability to redeem for travel, money, or gift cards at a full value of one cent per point, regardless of redemption method." The credit cards rewards space continues to become more competitive, with Chase,American Express, Capital One, and Barclays all competing for a new breed of rewards-savvy customers all seeking to maximize value from their consumer credit cards while avoiding carrying balances and paying interest. For Wells Fargo, however, there's another reason to offer a truly compelling product like the new Propel. "We as a company are excited to demonstrate our commitment to our customers," said Anderson. "The Propel is a proof point for our brand and the work that we're doing to rebuild trust with our customers," she said, referring to the scandal in which bank employees opened 3.5 million unauthorized accounts in customers' names. The new Propel Card will offer a sign-up bonus of 30,000 points — worth $300 — when you apply for a new card and spend $3,000 in the first three months. The online application for the new Propel Card will be available on Monday, July 16.
  25. Anyone applied for this card and approved or denied? What were your scores, initial CL? Having a history with Fidelity help? There are very few entries in credit pulls db. I have recently opened CMA, brokerage accounts, and a 40 month old 401K account with Fidelity. I am thinking of applying in a month. I am looking for a decent CL and wary of low CLs US Bank/ELAN is known for. Thanks in adavance.
