  1. Hello friends. I'm so glad to be here! Thanks for having me. My Creditkarma score is 555. I know that's not FICO, but it's going to be terrible regardless. I'm 28. So my credit right now is a mess. I've dabbled in trying to fix it, but I really want to make some serious progress now. I'll try to be succinct yet thorough. Credit utilization, payment history, age of credit history, and credit inquiries receive "A" marks on the report card thing. Total accounts (3 accounts) is D. Derogatory remarks (1 + 1 in collection) is B. Overall grade is F, obviously. The following 5 are my baddies. 3 Collection accounts. Two charged off accounts that at least are now paid or in the process of being paid: (1) Sears-CO, paid in full to CA after they had it for a month. I didn't do the DV or anything. Staying until 11/2015 (2) Capital 1, CO, process of paying in full via payment plan. Sent them a DV letter, and they (a legal office CA representing Cap 1) got back to me with all the documents from what I could tell. 1 more year to go. Staying until 1/2016 (3) CA hired by my past leasing office (OC) for not paying a small cleaning bill. I found out recently after pulling my CR. Received no notification from either CA or Leasing office to the best of my knowledge. OC claims not to have received my forwarding address (that I also updated on USPS when I moved). Comes off CR mid-2018. 2 Closed accounts with late payments: (4) BOFA credit card, several late payments over 3 years. Longest one is a 120 day late entry. Will become positive account in 1/2015. Stays until 2/2018. (5) Chase credit card. A few late payments over 2 years. Longest is 60 days. Will become positive 8/2014. Stays until 12/2017. *also 1 hard pull for credit card application last year More about me: I have 3 active accounts in good standing (no late payments). 5 positive (no late) overall including car loan payoff. I used to have excellent credit prior to about 2008. I just got super lazy about paying bills and well.. now I'm in a shameful state. Based on information I'd like the input for my plan and would like suggestions on possible letters to expediate some removals from CR. My to do list so far: 1) Delete previous addresses with CRA. 2) Apply for a credit card(s) to increase accounts. I'm debating between applying for several secured cards that from what I understand should be easy to obtain with a deposit and/or applying for a unsecure rewards card such as Capital 1 Newcomers rewards card. I should have done this earlier. I didn't know about secured cards. My concern with secure cards is they suck, annual fee, and mostly useless once my FICO improves, and I'm eligible for better credit cards. Do I keep the secure cards after credit improves or close them? Most of the recommended secured credit cards have annual fees. I don't plan on keeping any sort of balance on any of the credit cards month to month. Also, I have around $1000-1500 to start off with for the secured cards. What is a recommended way of putting in the deposits for the secured cards that I apply for? 3) I'm not sure what to do about baddie (3). The apartment complex is part of a huge company that basically owns one of the major cities in Orange County, CA, and I'm not even sure they have the authority to accept payment. I'm looking into a PFD or Goodwill letter depending on who I would address the letter to. PFD for CA and Goodwill for OC? Is 1-2 punch worth considering? The CA doesn't seem to be reporting it from month to month. Just the date that the account has gone into collections. 4) I'm open to ideas on using letters for the other baddies. Finally.. do letters still work effectively? A lot of the posts regarding DV and letter approaches were posted a number of years ago. Back then, things like PFD was a lot more successful. It seems to me that the CA's would be much more efficient and experienced dealing with the claims. If you made it through this, THANK YOU! I am just one guy who couldn't sleep a wink last night thinking about all this, and I'm just looking to turn things around.
  2. I filed BK13 back in 2010. DriveTime was included in that. I had the BK dismissed in 2011 because I couldn't maintain the high payments. Since then, they had been reporting an outstanding balance of $8,494.37, even though I originally owed $15K+ on the car that I voluntarily surrendered right before the BK13. This leads me to believe they re-sold the car and this is the outstanding balance. I never actually got any paperwork saying they did that, though. In January 2013 DriveTime sent me a letter offering to settle with me for 10% of the $8,494.37 balance, so they were willing to take $849.44, and they would update the CRA's to reflect my account as "settled" (their word). By this time I had just purchased a new car a month before, so I am assuming they must have realized the likelihood of me paying them was slim and none. I never responded to the settlement offer. Now I am looking at it again and thinking they may be willing to do a PFD now, if they were willing to settle for so little back then. My thought is that they have probably all but written this off and they aren't expecting anything from me, so they would be more amenable to a PFD to collect on an account that they had written off. My questions are: 1. Does my rationale make sense, or am I dreaming? I know DriveTime is supposed to notoriously difficult to deal with. 2. Has anyone out there had any success in getting DriveTime to do a PFD? If so, how did you get them to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm in rebuilding mode and would love to get them off my credit, or at least have them reflect more positively.
  3. Hi there. I plan on buying a car within the next 6-9 months and need to get my credit cleaned up. I have plans to send a few goodwill letters, as well as 1-2 pay for delete letters. I'm having trouble debating on how to handle the 3 medical bills I have on my report (from one ER visit). They aren't due to fall off until 2016 & 2017. The amounts owed are $133, $233, and $489. I was applying for their uninsured discount plans (or covered 100% due to being unemployed) and trying to get the visit covered. I faxed all of my tax info, etc, didn't hear any "denial" back & figured it was okay. Then I had like a 20 point drop in my credit report several months later. GREAT. The CA is "ARS". I have heard people getting them to agree with the PFD method. However, I wonder if I should try the HIPAA method first? I *kind of* understand the process, but it's a little difficult for me to follow (I've been reading about credit all day, my brain is fried lol) The hospital where I had the treatment done is the "sister" hospital of the hospital I currently work at. Would it be worth trying to go over there and talk to them? Should I ask for a verification with the CA first? Also, has anyone had success with PFD and having a settlement amount? I would be able to pay the $133 and $233 in full...but I'd try to offer 50% of the $489. I'm pretty certain for the HIPAA I'd have to pay the full amounts, so I'm not sure if I'd be able to follow through with that ;\. Thank you for any help! EDIT: Whoa. Now I am SUPER confused. I was skimming over my Transunion report and noticed some wrong info regarding these accounts. Well, the 3 medical bills (from same ER visit) say: $133 Placed for collection 2/04/2010 - item will be removed 04/16 $213 Placed for collection 02/03/2010 - item will be removed 04/16 $489 Placed for collection 02/23/2011 - item will be removed 05/17 That's more than the 4-5 years... Any idea what's going on? Also...to make this even worse..... how on earth would those dates be the reported dates when I went to the ER in Feb 2011? Actually, part of me thinks I didn't go to March 2011. I had no medical bills prior to that. So saying it went INTO COLLECTIONS in 2010 makes no sense to me... What do I do now? I don't want to try PFD when nothing makes sense anymore!
  4. Hi, all. I've been following CB for a few months now and have made some major cleanups to all my reports thanks to the awesome advice here. Now I have just two baddies in each report, which I'd like to tackle somehow. One is a series of ten 30-day-lates in 2012 and 2013 on my American Honda Finance auto loan, and I've read many people say goodwill letters won't work with them, but here's the situation I feel sure I can clean up somehow, with your advice: I left an apartment in late 2009 to move to another complex from the same owners and ended up owing them $1443 for carpet replacement and leaving the lease early. In 2010, they turned it over to a local collection agency here in Vegas called Sentry Recovery & Collections, whom I've heard are real a-holes. They've tacked on fees bringing my total up to $1627 but have not tried to contact me for quite a while (March 2014 was the last time they updated my credit reports). I'm not completely convinced I should wake a sleeping dragon, but I'd love to see this collection disappear. Should I: A — Try to PFD with the CA for less than I owe? B — Try to pay the apartment complex either in full or a lesser amount *if* they'll clear up my record in whatever tenant tracking system they use AND ask the CA to delete the collection from my reports? C — Something else? Thanks for your help! Cory
  5. Hi all - I've been trying to clean up my credit & like many people have some bad marks from years past..unfortunately, two of them relate to Portfolio Recovery Associates which is seeming to be IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. 1. I had a store credit card that I fell late on and it went to collections in Feb. 2013. I called and for someone to agree to a Pay for Delete so I paid the entire balance in Dec. 2013. I later found out this was the worst idea ever because they didn't delete anything and seeing I trusted their word, I have no proof that that was the agreement. So now I have this account sitting on my credit report as Paid in full, was a collection. 2. I had a Capital One card with a limit of $300 that went to collections in Mar. 2013. It's now showing as purchased by PRA in June 2014 with a original amount of $581.00. I'm not sure what happened to Mar 2013 - June 2014? I don't see anything else on my report for this account in these months.. Any ideas on what to do with this company, they won't agree to a Pay for Delete but I'm really hoping to get this thing of my reports! I've seen people mentioned requesting validation and I've thought about that but I'm a bit confused on the whole process.. Thanks in advance!!
  6. Hi all, After I graduated college I began consolidating all of my student loans. However, I somehow missed a loan from the university totaling around $8,0000, and received no notice about payments until the loan went into collections. I have sent a debt validation to the collection agency, and they responded with a copy of the signed promisory note and balance. Can I try to negotiate a pay for delete even though the debt is a student loan? Or do I have to try to set up a payment plan with the collection agency? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, TJ
  7. For all to know, Unifund Pilot Receivables just posted a CA for an account from CITI that had been settled with prejudice for no listing due to the precarious legal basis of the claim (Citi had knowledge of CARD ACT violations). This agreement was prepared by a top credit attorney in NYC with notarized signatures on both ends. Had I not had alerts, I would not have known about this. My scores are plummeting and I am hopping mad. Is this a $1000 violation? I paid the attorney and he is on it but I would love to sock it to them...deliberate misrepresentation of a legal agreement and fraudulant inducement to pay?
  8. Here is my story. I have a Amex Premium Gold Card, about 5 months ago I lost my job and had to decide what neglect and what to pay. I neglected the Amex but now have the money to pay it off. My account is canceled but its not in collections yet, and I was just sent a letter saying I would be approved for a Optima card if I pay balance in full. What are my options? Should I pay Amex or is there a way to get the lates off my CR. Thanks for any help! My Score was 776 before all this now it is around 640.
  9. Working on a that $95 baddie for my pal. Original creditor is WOW! Cable. Collector is Credit Management. Called them and asked them about a PFD. I was told that if I FAX a PFD letter they will send me something back as a FAX in 48 hours. Then if I (or rather, my pal) signs it, then it gets removed. Let's say that the request comes before the payment. I'd hate to have to sign anything that you send to a CA, though. It all sounds legit on the phone. I asked point blank if they would remove their report from all three credit reports and they said yes. Has anyone been through this with CMI? Did they delete as promised?
  10. I recently obtained validation information from Midland Funding regarding an account in collections. I CM-RRR'ed the DV letter to them last month. I am with-in SOL in Louisiana. SOL ends around 03/2015. I want to try to have them delete the TL off my CRs. I want to send a PFD letter for a settlement amount. I won't lowball since I know I'm inside SOL, somewheres around 55%-70% of total. I know its a touchy area sending PFD Settlement letter within SOL. My question is, lets say I send the letter, they do not accept the settlement. Will they send something back stated something to the affect of "no we don't want partial payment blah blah". and then I can send another PFD for the full amount? Just looking for the best route of action to have them delete by paying the least I have to. Thanks in advance.
  11. Please Help! I have a GE Capital Brooks Card which was recently closed - can anyone provide advice on how to best negotiate and minimize the impact this will do to my bureaus? Last Payment was made November 2013, with the next payment due Dec 2014 I received a letter with GE Capital Retail Bank letter head today offering to settle for 50% of the original balance of $1800, in three installments - and the account would be marked 'Account Paid in full than less than the full balance' (which is worth little) Is there a way to negotiate that I pay the FULL Original amount, in exchange for either deleting it, or marking it 'Paid as Agreed' 'Account closed by grantor' Help anyone please.
  12. Hello all, New to the boards here, but I have to say the amount of knowledge that's shared is pretty amazing. I think that is awesome that everyone takes the time to help each other out as much as they can. I ruined my credit years back, and I'm finally on the road to redemption. I do plan on posting my trade lines here on the boards for some insight, but I'm running short on time. So it will have to wait until another day. I do however have a question regarding the collection agency, National Account Systems. I have a dental bill in the amount of $131.00 that was overlooked. My DW put the bill on the fridge and forgot about it. Subsequently the dental office sent it to collections. Now normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but my dentist and his partner had a falling out and went their separate ways. So my dentist is no longer partners at that office anymore. I called the dental office told them that I pulled my reports and seen that I forgot to pay my bill, due to the fact that the account is now in collections. I asked if I could come up to the office over my lunch break and pay it directly to them as I really didn't want to deal with the collection agency. The account manager at the dental office said she would talk to the dentist and get back to me. I explained to her that I would like to have the collection agency's negative tradeline removed upon full payment to them. A gesture of goodwill. For goodness sake, I've been going to them for years and always paid. Well she calls me back and tells me that the dentist would like me to deal with the collection agency due to the obligation he has per their agreement. However, she did say he had no problem with them removing any negative information once the account was paid. The account manager informed me that she had already called the collection agency and informed them I would be calling. She gave me the contact info for the CA and I called them as soon as I could. I called the CA up and spoke to the accounts manager for the company. He told me that the dental office called, told him what had happened and that we could get everything taken care of upon receipt of full payment. He had no issues with deleting the tradeline. Now I know what everyone says on these boards "Never call a CA!" Normally I live by that mantra, but I thought this was a special circumstance due to the situation and my relationship with my dental office. So the accounts manager tells me that if I want to pay over the phone with my card he can get that tradeline deleted ASAP. So right before I pay I ask what the total cost is going to be. He proceeds to tell me that it will be $131.00 for the past due bill and a $159.00 fee to delete the negative tradeline. I asked him why he did not inform me of this before he wanted to take my payment. Then it hit me, he works for a CA, and due to my laps in judgement, I almost thought they could actually do the right thing. I told him while I understood that he is in the business to collect on the behalf of his clients, that is an extremely unethical way to conduct business. Then credit boards popped into my head, and I told the CA "Thanks for your time and have a great day!" Now I have searched the boards, but all I can find is information related to PFD. My question is this. Is what this accounts manager did illegal. To me it really felt like I was being extorted. I know...I shouldn't be surprised. What I want to do is call them back and say that I have no choice but to pay their deletion fee, but I need it in writing before I pay. Something that say after receiving $290.00 the tradeline will be removed. That way I can show that the original balance will be satisfied, then the ball will be in their court to explain the other $159.00 charge. What do you all think? Sorry, first post! I will practice condensing my information! Thanks guys.
  13. Hello, Does anyone know if amex pfd? if so how do you go about it? From what date does the acct drop off- Date reported? Date opened? Last Reported? thanks
  14. Hello All, I am new to this forum. I have been working on trying to repair my credit. I made mistakes, I was bad, I've grown up and realized the damage that I have done- time to fix. I am struggling to understand the relationship between a charge off from an original creditor, and the same account once it is sold to a collection agency. Goal- Obtain a mortgage Stumbling Block- From everything I've read, there is no way you'll get a mortgage with charge offs on your credit report I have two charge offs on my credit report, one from Orchard Bank, the other from Credit One Bank. Both were credit cards. They both were sold to Midland Funding/Midland Credit Management, who is now the collection agency on them. Question 1- Lets say I have the money to pay the collection agency, Midland Funding, off in full for both of these charge offs. How would that end up showing as a paid charge off (which a mortgage lender would want to see) when the collection agency isnt the one reporting it as a charge off. They are reporting it as a collection account. The original creditor is the one reporting it as a charge off, a seperate tradeline. How does satisfying the debt with the colllection agency coorelate to the original creditor updating status to a paid charge off? Question 2- Is it possible to make arrangements with the collection agency to pay the same above referenced collection accounts for agreement of deletion, essentially pay for delete of their tradeline, and still have the original creditors tradeline updated as paid charge off? Perhaps I need to know the answer to question 1 before I delve into question 2 too much, but it seems like they would go hand in hand. Thanks in advance for any input, guidance, and help.
  15. I have a $677 charge off from Discover that has been updating every month on my reports as a charge off. It always shows on experian as a "late payment". Two weeks ago I sent them a PFD letter. I know typically that doesn't work for OC, but thought I'd see if some magic happened. I'm two years before the SOL. Discover owns the debt, they've sent me a few settlement offers. The letter I recieved back from them states: "We researched the dispute of liability for the above refrenced account. We found the account and balances to be valid. Enclosed please find (copy of statements). Payment in full must be recieved within 30 days from date of this letter. Upon reciept of the payment will will report to the credit reporting agencies the account is paid in full. Remit payment to (address) We will continue to report your account to the consumer reporting agencies as "disputed" unless you tell us to stop reporting disputed. " So... what does that mean? I didn't dispute it, I asked for a PFD. Are the offering me a PFD? Thanks... Jill
  16. I had a Capital one charge off in 2010 and it was sold to Portfolio Recovery Services recently (resulted into nearly a 20pt drop in my score since they are reporting, too) The SoL for this account is (I believe) in about 4 months . I am in Florida, and the last payment on the account was 06/2010. If the SoL is actually 5 years instead of 4, then I have another year left ;\ I do want to try PFD with Portfolio, but I don't want to risk getting sued and rocking the boat anymore. They call once every few days and I don't respond. I have received nothing in the mail. The amount owed is $988, and I really can't afford to pay in full. I know I have a better chance of PFD once the SoL has passed. Would you all advise me to ignore them in the mean time? So, I plan on doing a PFD after the SoL has passed. I also want to try sending a goodwill letter to Capital One seeing if they will remove any sort of negative marks on my report. (I have heard most people get denied, but I'd like to try anyway) My main question is, if I write Cap1 a goodwill letter, would they know whether or not I paid off my debts to the credit agency? Would they even care? My letter will state that I paid these debts, which isn't a lie because I *will*, but I'm not sure it'll be paid before or after Cap One reads/sees my letter. Hopefully this made sense, lol. Thanks for any help!
  17. Has anyone had experience negotiating a PFD with Old Navy or anyone under GECRB. If so was it settlement, or full balance paid and did you have to deal with any specific department. Please share experiences.
  18. I just got a response to a PFD that is a settlement offer, but with no indication of agreement to delete. The letter reads This letter is to formally advise you that our client XXX has agreed to a one time Settlement Offer of $180.00 on this bill. We will allow 45 calendar days for the payment to arrive in our office. If payment is not received by 2/18/2014 this offer will be considered null and void and full balance will be due. The way I'm reading this, it seems they're not accepting the PFD offer and are trying to collect without agreeing to delete. Just want to be sure there's not some subtlety I'm missing (I can't see what it may be). My PFD was VERY CLEAR to NOT acknowledge the debt, stated specific terms (they agree to remove the trade line, not to discuss, etc - all the usual), and that they send a response agreeing to those terms. This doesn't do that. However, I've read about cases where CA's will accept it but not confirm when you dispute. Background: This is a medical collection. PFD was sent before I found out about WhyChat's method - I was waiting on a response before starting down that path because I just want this to go away. According to my CR's (just obtained) this is scheduled to fall of "around 07/2014" and "09/2014" - but I'd like to get it off sooner as it's standing in the way of me getting a mortgage. (Plus I know they can stay on longer). Although it's an older debt, it's causing me trouble because it's being reported active every month. Any thoughts or advise on this?
  19. hello, im new here, trying to clean up my credit because i want to buy a house soon. the only really bad mark i have on my reports is an unpaid utility bill that i stopped paying on in 2009. this was with an electric company serving in the chicagoland area known as ComEd, short for Commonwealth Edison. this showed up years ago on my reports as owned by a different collection agency (i cant remember their name now) and is now (or at least as of April of this year when i last got my reports) is showing up as being held by "Contract Callers Inc." it is not scheduled to drop off the reports until 2016, and i really don't want to keep renting until then. I have heard that people can have some luck doing the pfd thing with collections that are due to utility bills, and other things that dont normally get reported (monthly reported for acounts in good standing) mainly my question is what should i do here? here the three main suggestions i have gotten from people: 1) request validation from collection agency 2) try to pay the original creditor - then request they have the record pulled if they dont pull the record then after paying oc, tell the ca to validate and they probably drop it 3) pfd the collection agency this "debt" is only $249 so i really dont mind spending the money to get it DELETED from my reports. but it seems, as far as i can tell, worthless, if not damaging to pay just to get it updated to "paid" or "settled" as it's my understanding that if i did that, it would remain on my reports for up to 7 years from the date of payment. i look forward to working with you all, whoever has the time and experience to help me out on this and a few other issues i have. this is probally the most damaging mark i have on my reports at the time, and i really want to get it gone.
  20. Hi All. This forum has been extremely helpful over the last six months and has helped me clean up my credit. I do need some advice on handling my Wells repo.. I have read Why Chat's repo program and I want to make sure that's the route I should take in my situation. I'll try to keep it short. Bought and Repo in Washington State, now live in Illinois Deficiency bal reported on reports: 6700 Original loan around 10500 before junk fees and ext warranty Had it for 16 months before repo, $279 mo/payments Still reporting CO monthly on all 3 reports by Wells Never reported on my report by a CA I have no public records and can't find any judgements in court records Repo Oct 2009 (Carfax states lien placed 10/13/09) It was sold at auction 4 years ago yesterday 11/2/09 per Carfax Don't recall ever getting any paperwork after repo I have opted out about a week ago and have removed all addresses except for Exp of course (but still trying) I have never contacted Wells and never disputed it with them or CRA The car was a total lemon when I bought it, but it's too late now. Took $7k in work to get it running (new engine and tranny). Learned the hard way why they wouldn't let me buy it without the ext. dealer warranty. Should I follow Why Chat's method in my case? If not, or if I do and it doesn't work, should I offer a PFD? Maybe starting at $1000? I'll be in college for another 3 years so maybe playing that angle will help get a PFD playing the poor college student... June '13 fako score 530's - Now 654 for all 3. I imagine this repo is keeping me in this range. No longer have any collections. Did have 7. I have about 4 zero balance CO that are about 4 years old but I'll work on those after the repo. Thanks for the help and I will gladly post updates!!
  21. I sent a DV letter to Convergent Outsourcing for an old Comcast bill (dated June 2009). They replied with a copy of the bill with my name and old address on it. What is my next step here? Send a PFD letter? FOAD letter? My state is Pennsylvania if that helps. my goal is to have it totally removed from my report, even if it means paying up. Thanks!
  22. hello, im very confused as i read different things as to "the right way" to go about this process. i have a utility bill in collections. ?#1 - do i pfd the oc or the ca? ?#2 - should i tell them to validate it? ?#3 - if i pay the oc, will the ca have to delete the report entry, or do they just have to reflect a $0 balance? any comments, preferably people with their own sucess stories doing this, are more than welcome.
  23. I had a credit card through 1st Financial Bank USA that I opened in 2004. My last payment was in 2010 and it was charged off in June of 2010. The SOL in my state, Maryland is 3 years. Legally they cannot sue me for the debt. In addition, they have stopped calling me (THANK GOD). But they are updating faithfully every month that it is charged off, which is very annoying. I would like to offer them a PFD but am afraid that it will somehow start the SOL over. Any suggestions on how I could word this? I don't want it totally deleted, because it is my oldest account, I really just want the charge off and any subsequent information deleted. Please HELLLPPPP!!
  24. Any advice that you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have a Daimler Chrysler Charge Off on all three bureaus that is due to fall off in August 2014. The Charge off resulted in a Judgment that appears on my Equifax and my Trans Union credit reports. The Judgment is scheduled to keep reporting until 4/2016. These are the only negative items that remain on my reports, and I’d like to have them removed if possible. I sent the following PFD letter to Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis: Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis, P.C. 136 Gaither Drive Suite 100 Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 RE: TD Auto Finance (Daimler Chrysler) Account # XXXXXXXXXXXXX Essex County Special Part Case # XXXXXXXXXXXXX Dear Sir/Madam: This letter is an attempt to reach a negotiation to settle an outstanding debt. I’m sending this letter Certified Mail # XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX to make sure that you receive it. In the spirit of compromise I am prepared to pay you 30% of the total amount due, if Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis is willing to file a Motion to Vacate the Default Judgment (Essex County Special Part, Case #XXXXXXXXXX). I would also request that TD Auto Finance (Daimler Chrysler) delete all negative items associated with account #XXXXXXXX from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, and report this account as Pays as Agreed/ Closed with a zero balance. It has been a very rough few years, but my financial position has mildly improved since this account had gone delinquent, and I am now prepared to settle this debt. In the spirit of good will, I am hoping an agreement can be reached where all parties involved can benefit as a result. If Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis will agree to these terms and accept this agreement, funds totaling 30% of the total amount due will be sent in exchange for Vacating the Judgment (Essex County Special Part, Case #XXXXXXXX) and full deletion of ALL negative references regarding my TD Auto Finance (Daimler Chrysler) account #XXXXXX from my credit files. As an added “rider” to this compromise request, I request that the trade line be updated on all credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) within 15 days after funds have been applied to the debt. If Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis agrees to the proposal stated above, please respond, on company letterhead, and descriptively outline the action that will be taken by Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis, and signed in ink by an authorized representative of Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis. Thank you, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX FOLLOWING IS THE RESPONSE THAT I RECEIVED FROM LYONS, DOUGHTY & VELDHUIS: XXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Re: Daimler Chrysler Financial Services Americas LLC v. XXXXXX XXXXXXX Docket No. XXXXXXXX Account Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX Current Balance: $1,910.62 Dear XXXXX XXXXX: Please be advised that we are unwilling to accept your offer of 30% of the balance. We are willing to accept the sum of $1,500.00 as settlement in full of the above captioned matter on or before September 25, 2013. Your credit report will be updated as Settled and the negative items will not be deleted. Upon receipt of cleared funds a Satisfaction of Judgment will be forwarded to Court for filing. A filed copy of same will be provided upon receipt from the Court. Our client is accepting this settlement with the condition that there is no sale of real property or refinancing of a mortgage pending. Either of these circumstances will render the acceptance of this offer null and void. Please forward funds to our payment processing center located at 136 Gaither Drive, Suit 100, P.O. Box 1269, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 payable to Lyons, Doughty & Veldhuis. Upon receipt of cleared funds your account will be reported to our client as SETTLED/PAID. If you have questions regarding how this may affect your tax responsibilities you should speak with your tax consultant. Very Truly Yours, XXXXXXXXXXXXX I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point. Could settling this account have a negative effect on my FICO Scores? My current FICO Scores are: Experian 677 Equifax 665 Trans Union 656
  25. Hi everyone, Recently, a collection item popped up on my credit report for a dental bill from 6 years ago. I called up the number of the agency from my credit report and immediately paid the bill in full. I did receive an email and a pdf attachment from the collection manager saying this: "This letter shall confirm that the above-mentioned account has been paid in full as of date YYYYMMDD. Payment of $XXX has been received and posted to the account referenced above. We have also requested that it be deleted from the credit bureaus. Note that we can only request that it be deleted and you must follow up with the credit bureaus to ensure its deletion." While going through the forums, I saw that people use paper mail to get a request such as this. I was curious if the pdf and email I received is as valid as a "paper" letter. How soon can I expect to see that the account has been paid and deleted? Thanks AK
