  1. I didn't believe him but he showed me the score after he did the app online, gives you an option to see your score. He had to do another credit app at dealership but was approved for $31,000 and got a 8% rate. How is this possible. His DTI is very good but still.
  2. I need some advice on how to tackle this situation I'm in a position to be able to pay off all my old debt this month and I'm closing on a investment property before the end of the month and I want to pull some some money out as I am paying cash. I have 5 negative accounts that needs attention 2 are reporting monthly I have settlement agreements on 2 accounts one of which is the two that are reporting monthly 2 accounts are student loans that are going to fall off in 7 months here are the accounts 1 is a old bank overdraft that has accepted a payment of 1250 for settlement of a 4293 current balance need to pay this off as they have me on chex they are reporting monthly 1 is an old chase account for 1350 and they are NOT reporting monthly and they have offered to settle for 650 which I am going to accept 2 student loans described above 1 is an old motorcycle loan and the bank reports monthly falling off January of 2020 My question is I'm going to pay off all current CC debt and for the sure the bank overdraft loan how will this affect my current score? (I have Bk's on my report due to my spouse getting fired and recently settled a lawsuit against the former employer so I'm going to try and get the BK's removed by going back in front of the judge with the settlement agreement and see what he says. Probably get denied but at least I'm going to give it a shot.) From what I read my score will take a minor hit from the accounts that are reporting monthly but will take a big hit on the accounts that are not reporting monthly. I'm trying to make sure I have the highest possible score possible for me to get a lender to give me some cash for this house with all cc's paid off my score will be around 660 or so. Any helpful advice other than you f'ed yourself

  3. Hello, I need help consolidating student loan I co-signed for my daughter. Any suggestions?
  4. That's a great service and a brilliant idea. Let's hope all banks and credit card companies do the same.
  5. I sent a validation request letter to the collection company and received the green card back but it's been more than 30 days and I haven't received a response. Now what?
  6. I'm planning to contact a collection agency and find out how they calculated the amount of interest they're charging on a debt. Have any of you had success with this? Did you find that you were being overcharged?
  7. So when I returned home from work today my DH was all freaked out about several vm's and text messages he'd received from a law firm. He said, "Just listen to this vm." It was from a friendly man from Lexington Law addressing a person named Asandre - wrong # obviously. I laughed and explained to him that Lexington Law is a sham credit repair business and they are attempting to reach a ripe victim to collect $$ to remove negative marks on their cr and they have the wrong #. DH was rattled by the "law" in the name of Lexington Law. Then I read him some posts here on Credit Boards about them. It was enlightening. Thanks Credit Boards for all you do.
  8. Hi there, First time on the forums and was hoping I could get some understanding on a response from a CA. I recently sent a letter to a collection agency that has been reporting medical debt of mine. It is the only derogatory on my account so I was attempting a pay for delete. I used a letter template from another forum regarding the situation and have since received a response. My letter for reference: [Name] [Address] [CA] [CA address] [date] Re: Account Number xxxxxxxxxx Dear Collection Manager: This letter is in response to your credit report entry on date related to the debt referenced above. I wish to save us both some time and effort by settling this debt. Please be aware that this is not an acknowledgment or acceptance of the debt, as I have not received any verification of the debt. Nor is this a promise to pay and is not a payment agreement unless you provide a response as detailed below. I am aware that your company has the ability to report this debt to the credit bureaus as you deem necessary. Furthermore, you have the ability to change the listing since you are the information furnisher. I am willing to pay this debt in full in return for your agreement to remove all information regarding this debt from the credit reporting agencies within ten calendar days of payment. If you agree to the terms, I will send certified payment in the amount of $XXXX payable to CA name in exchange to have all information related to this debt removed from all of my credit files. If you accept this offer, you also agree not to discuss the offer with any third-party, excluding the original creditor. If you accept the offer, please prepare a letter on your company letterhead agreeing to the terms. This letter should be signed by an authorized agent of CA.The letter will be treated as a contract and subject to the laws of my state. As granted by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I have the right to dispute this alleged debt. If I do not receive your postmarked response within 15 days, I will withdraw the offer and request full verification of this debt. Please forward your agreement to the address listed above. Sincerely, Name This is their response: Dear Name, Please be advised that this office represents CA name concerning the above referenced accounts originate with OC. According to our client's records, there is a total outstanding balance due in the amount of $XXXX. This will confirm that you have agreed to remit the sum of $XXXX to our office in full resolution of these accounts. Upon clearance of said funds, these accounts will be deemed resolved and closed by our office. Please remit these funds by Date. Furthermore, after conducting a reasonable investigation of the special circumstances detailed in your correspondence, we have determined that our trade line pertaining to these accounts should be deleted from your credit profile and we will notify the appropriate credit bureaus to proceed accordingly. If you wish to make your payment via our secure website, please visit website.com Very truly yours, Signature Name Manager Just looking at this response it appears to me that they are accepting the pay for delete within their own words? I do not want to get screwed over by vague wording. The use of "should" be removed kind of bothers me as they don't seem to be guaranteeing anything. Also the last paragraph throws me off as well. Are they saying that once the debt is paid in full the account is closed and then should be removed? Or are they saying it should be removed regardless? Also if i do go ahead and send payment, is using the provided site a bad idea? Or should i mail it certified with return receipt? I'd really appreciate a response from anyone who has had success in this area. I assume they are just wording things to cover themselves as they did sign the response letter. Sorry for long post, but i only have a few days to get the letter to them. Thank you in advance!
  9. Date if Delinquency when is it actually counted? Is if from the actual "last date of delinquency" or "when first delinquency occurs" also does that date start the clock for statute of limitations?
  10. I am new and feeling very overwhelmed with all the info but so grateful at the same time. I wanted to start with a simple question first and then will share my full story and where I am at credit wise right now. I am a victim of severe domestic violence and also the victim of a sexual assault from an employer while on a business trip after I left my abuser and was in a shelter. The owner of the company thought because I was so abused he could guilt me into having sex. We are now in a lawsuit as I was smart enough to voice record the assault on my phone that lasted 3 hours and then he has continues to harassment towards me via text even though I have council. He is representing himself. Now that you have a small back story my attorney advised that I change my name. My entire name. For both reasons. In my state of GA you can legally change your name for free with no having to do public service if you are a victim of domestic violence. Now onto what I do not know. How does a name change effect your credit report??? Do. They notated your old name tied to your new name?? I have Google but haven't been able to find my answers but that is how I found this site. Anyone know or anyone here ever change their full name? Thank you for any advice or help..
  11. Hello Everyone, *Please let me know if I am placing this in the wrong category, it all relates to my ability to qualify for a specific mortgage program* Background: My wife and I are trying to get qualified for this specific mortgage loan program through our home developer (CalAtlantic which is Lennar Homes). As first time buyers we are looking for something with as little upfront cash as possible. We managed to qualify for the FHA 3.5% but they have another program that is $1500 move-in and that's it. That's the one we want. However, I literally missed the minimum score qualification for that program by 3 points!! UGH. We are working with a non-profit group to examine our reports and help with a game plan to get those 3 points by July to make that qualification for this program. The woman said it's totally possible. The Problem: She noticed an old charged off loan that somehow resurfaced on the report (how is that even possible?) I thought when an old debt's clock ran out and it fell off the credit report it was gone? Anyway, it's an old Sallie Mae private student loan that I couldn't pay years and years ago and eventually the clock ran out and it fell off my report. However, it has somehow resurfaced and it appears to be one reason why I can't get enough points to make that minimum score qualification for that specific loan program. Solutions: The credit counselor suggested that I contact Navient (formerly Sallie Mae), and offer to pay a chunk of that loan amount in an effort to get that to boost my score enough to pass the 640 mark that I need to hit. According to their simulations that should do the trick. However, she mentioned that I need to contact them ask them how they will report that back to the credit beaus because that could potentially hurt me more than help me, depending how they do. They are advising to get the balance of $6577 down to about $4000 and that should provide enough score to do another credit pull and get the qualification. Additionally they are advising that I contact Navient and ask them why this is getting reported again after more than 12 years. Doesn't make sense to me. But more importantly, if I offer to pay a chunk of the balance how they are going to report it back to the credit agencies. I sure could use some advice on how to handle this interaction with Navient's collections group in order to maximize the credit score. I'd also like to understand how and why this old debt has come back to life. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  12. In an attemp to clean up my creditor, I've read a lot of post on this board, researched cleaning up credit via the internet and studied different strategies. Then I sent out a multitude of different letters (all certified) addressed to different creditors / 3rd parties attempting to get them to do different things. At this point, the only thing I've manage to get the the credit agencies to do is too drop old address but thats all. It's been over 30 days. What do i do now? 1. I've sent some certificed letters asking creditors and ask them to "validate" that I owe the debt they are claiming, but NO CREDITOR HAVE REPLIED TO MY REQUEST. 2. I've sent some creditors a certified "GOOD WILL ADJUSTMENT" letter asking them to either remove the old debt or to change the status of the debt thus making a GOOD WILL ADJUSTMENT, but NO CREDITOR HAVE REPLIED TO MY REQUEST. 3. I've sent some 3rd party creditors who brought the original debt an certified "GOOD WILL OFFER TO SETTLE & DELETE THE ACCOUNT" letter" but NO CREDITOR HAVE REPLIED TO MY REQUEST.
  13. Hi all! New poster here. Unfortunately lost my job back in 2015 and saw my earnings reduced about 90%. Had a hard time paying my creditors. Back on my feet now and looking to do what I can for my pretty abysmal credit situation. I had a car loan and two credit cards with USAA. My vehicle was repossessed in December of 2015 and both my cards were charged off in early 2016. Balance on the car loan after sale is about $9,900 and I had two CC’s with a combined balance of $4000. USAA still owns the accounts and reports monthly the status of all 3. The CC’s are reported as a charge off and the car loan refreshes monthly as a repossession. All show the balances due. Does anyone have any experience with USAA and charge offs? Are they prone to file suit? I am in a position to offer a settlement if that would avoid the possibility of a lawsuit. I’d also like to stop the monthly bleed from the fresh reporting monthly. The charge offs and repossession happened while I lived in PA which has a 4 year statute of limitations. I have since moved to West Virginia which has a 10 year statute! I haven’t been able to find anything definitive online about the borrowing statute for WV. Either way these are all within the statute of limitations. Not sure if I should just try to wait it out or offer a settlement to stave off the possibility of a future lawsuit. Thanks all for your help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. One last negative on all three accounts is a paid charge off from Target. I will be closing on my house in Sept and was hoping it would be gone by then but I’m not so sure. Was hoping someone could give me some guidance as to when it might be gone. On my reports the first 30 day late is Sept 2011 with the paid charge off showing a date of Feb 2012. So do I have to wait until Sept or Feb of next year? Also was wondering if anyone had any luck getting something this old removed early with a good will letter etc. I am not beneath begging at this point. My scores are decent and high enough to qualify me but I was hoping for scores north of 740 and they just aren’t there yet. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. There are several reports of account closures, and reviews by Chase - credit and bank accounts. Can this be an unintended consequence of quick repair and rebuild? These days all the credit related information is available readily. There are blogs and websites where you can find rewards credit cards, signup bonuses, and ways to quickly earn rewards. Can this spook some issuers/lenders?
  16. Hello everyone, About 2 years ago I experienced a financial downfall. This lead to me not being able to keep up with my Verizon Wireless account which eventually was disconnected and placed into collections. The account was then sold to Collectco Inc. With my credit coming back around I recently applied for a equity line of credit to do some home improvements and was denied due to this derogatory mark. I had hoped that since my house is paid off with a current estimated value of $150,000-180,000 that a line of credit for $25,000 wouldnt be an issue, but I thought wrong. One CU told me that going into a payment arrangement and bringing the agreement in might be enough for the underwriters, but Im sceptical. Has anyone had good luck with this? If I dispute the legitimacy Im guessing there is a good chance Verizon will respond. Collectco hasnt filed anything against me as of yet. Now I have done a fair amount of reading, but the time has come for me to move on and get this taken care of. Thank you all for your guidance.
  17. Soo I had an acct with Midland it’s now out of SOL. During my time with them I had credit protection but it got cancelled when it went delinquent. While they tried to collection no one never mentioned that I had it or it could help me. After a round of fighting with the BBB and then sending verifications I noticed it. I tried to file a claim but got denied. During this time I wrote to VS, JCrew, and AES to ask for good wills on removing lates. All of them did soooo why not try CreditOne with a two weeks I got a letter stating they would delete the account and get Midland to remove me from their collections. 18. Just wondering if anyone who has had success with DV letters to the 3 bureaus getting off old negative accounts, had those accounts re appear back on? Not referring to Re aging. I paid off First premier after I learned about PFDs which they said they wouldnt do anyways, its showing paid off but with the negative history. Thanks everyone!
  19. I have a medical bill on my report that I’ve been trying to remove over the past few years with letters, and even writing to CFPB.gov The debt collector only sends a letter, account summary prepared by the debt collector with my name on it, no address, or SS nothing with total money owed. I have told them that is not me, as the bill is from Milwaukee, WI, and I live in Portland, OR. The debt hasn't been properly validated in my eyes, but they keep reporting it to the credit agencies. CFPB only acted to get a response, but will not do anything to validate the debt.. I am thinking of taking them to sm claims to have it removed. I am asking for advice on having this removed please.... Thank you!
  20. Hi, So here is the deal. I lost my house to Foreclosure and during the process of trying to modify. The home is not on my CC because US Bank never reported after a Hamp a few years ago. I am credit heavy and did not learn my lesson after my BK in 2010. Now in August I can chapter again, my Credit is in the tank and it will take a few years to rebuild, whether I continue to pay off CC's and Loans or file. Since I can clear the slate in August with a filing, should I in your opinion bank the cash that I would pay out on CC's and file then rebuild? I can re affirm my vehicle but may just send it back since I am 10K in the negative. My wife is buying a home so there is no housing issues to worry about. I am not looking to get over just looking to get out of this hole I created and rebuild. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Hi all, I've been lurking on these boards for a while. I'm now ready to repair as much damage on my CR's as I can. I've been reading off and on for a while, but really hit the boards hard the past month. I understand some things but there is a TON I still don't quite understand. I'm trying to avoid doing anything until I have a full plan of action. So I'm starting this thread to 1) chronicle my journey and 2) get allllll the advice anyone is willing to share. What I've done so far: Printed all three reports via annualcreditreport.com Opted out online (5.26.17) CMRR Mailed CRAs to remove old addresses and incorrect (maiden) name (5.26.17) - Unfortunately, after I mailed the letters I realized that most of my accounts are linked to my PO box. So I'm wondering if I should call and have that one removed as well, leaving only my current home address? I would love insight on this. Opened checking/savings w/ NFCU & USAA for future rebuilding Synopsis of Credit Reports *cracks knuckles* Current Scores (June 2017) TU 572 / EXP 590 / EQ 579 -Ch. 7 BK – Filed 11.23.10. Not scheduled to be removed until 10.2020. · IIB (I previously (stupidly) worked w/ Lex Law to remove a lot of things IIB, but this is what was left): o Credit Acceptance; Last payment made 10.29.10. o Capital One; Opened 3.2011. o Target; Opened 7.2005. -State Tax Lien – Filed 8.2014. Amount PIF 5.2015. -Midwestern Auto Service CA – Dentist bill that went unpaid in 2014. I believe I paid the OC (have to look back through my files). Listed as paid/closed but still a collection account. -Avant Loan – Sold to Cach LLC. Amount due $7540. Last payment directly to Avant in July 2016. Have not spoken to Cach LLC at all. -Credit One CC – Sold to LVNV Funding. Amount due is 871. Last payment directly to Credit One in August 2016. Have not talked to LVNV. -Comenity CC - Currently charged off. Amount due is $1734, CA is D&A Services, Current Creditor is Crown Asset Management. Last made payment directly to Comenity in August 2016. I set up a payment plan with the CA and have only made one payment so far. I was trying to keep it from going to court. Not sure how to proceed. -Capital One CC - Currently in internal collections. Amount due is $3300. Made $320 payment last month. Before that, last payment made while acct was in good standing July 2016. They offered me a settlement amount that I can't afford to come up with by the end of the month. The CSR said that he can do a payment plan of $275/ month for 12 months to have it taken care of. It will be paid but will still show as a derogatory TL. Not sure how to proceed. -First Premier CC (2) – Both cards were settled for less than what I owed. Listed as “Settled less than full/Paid in full; was a charge off”. Accounts closed. -Discover CC – DH just added me as AU. Card in good standing, $9k limit with $1500 balance. -InTouch Credit Union CC – In good standing, never late. $5k limit, $4750 balance. Working to get that utilization down. -GM Financial – Original lender for Auto loan. Refi’d w/ credit union. 30 days late 2x in 2014 and once in 2013. Closed. -InTouch Credit Union Auto Loan – In good standing, never late. -InTouch Credit Union Personal Loan – Paid in full, never late. -Ally Financial – Auto lease. Opened 5/2008. Listed as “Paid in Full/Closed” but for some reason under the ‘negative’ section of my EXP CR. -Michigan First Credit Union – Old loans ranging from 2002 to 2006. All “Paid in full/Closed”. I’m thinking they add age to my accounts which may help my score. Man that is overwhelming. Sigh. Anywho, this is what I’m working with. I haven’t 100% formulated a plan of action yet. I’m *thinking* the 1-2 punch but unsure if that will be effective in my case. Re: the accounts in collections, I’m not sure what I should pay or what I shouldn’t. I don't know if I screwed up by paying the Cap One and Comenity CA's already. Just a bit confused and looking for insight. As my username implies, I would love to hit a 700 CS (or above obviously). My scores haven't seen 700 in over a decade. We would like to be a house next year. My DH has really good credit and is willing to buy the house in his name alone if my can't get cleaned up in time for a good rate. But I would like to clean up my CRs as much as possible so I won't feel like a loser wife. Thanks so much!!
  23. Hi everyone, Wanted to ask if its worth it deleting an old TL off my Experian & Transunion CR? The TL is Citi Card that was opened in 02/2008 (Perfect history till 2015) It 2015 it shows 30/60/90/120 lates and in 2016 it shows CO (Charge-Off) I paid it off in late 2016 and now it shows (Paid in Settlement. $0.00 written off - This account is scheduled to continue on record until Sep 2021) My question is .. this is the oldest account I have on my CR (10 years) and if I successfully got to delete it will it hurt my Score and Credit Profile in general? Will it shorten my Credit History Average Age of Accounts (Currently my Average Age of Accounts is 3 yrs & 4 mo)? This is the only baddie i have on file plus ate payment on my Toyota Car Loan account? Thank you.
  24. Hi all! I’m a newbie and this is my first time posting. First, I want to say this site is phenomenal! It is such a blessing to have found CB. After lurking for a few days, I immediately signed up and I couldn’t stop reading! I wish I would’ve found this site a long time ago. Specifically, before I filed a Ch.7 BK, which discharged almost 2 years ago. I had so many questions until I read through hundreds of posts. I still have some questions on what I should do next if someone can point me in the right direction. So a little background...After my BK discharged in 2016, the only resource I had at the time for guidance was on MF. Immediately after BK, I got a credit builder loan, two secured CCs through USAA and GTE, and a FingerHut card to start my credit building journey. I was able to do minor things by disputing old addresses and getting all TL’s IIB to report as such. Then I attempted to dispute a judgment and BK but failed. I attempted all of this online, which I now know was very bad, and I should’ve CMRR. During this time, my credit went from the 480’s to about 650’s. I was stuck in that range for what seemed like awhile. I became a bit discouraged because I was getting denied for credit due to the judgment and BK so I sort of gave up. Ugh. So I hired a credit repair company I dealt with several years ago to help me once again, but that didn’t last very long. Between my husband getting injured at work and my toddler’s medical bills, I had to end the credit repair services since we were relying solely on my income and it got tight really quick. Fast forward to now, I found unopened credit reports from all 3 CRAs and LN dated back to mid-February 2018 (I traveled for work all that month so I never saw the reports). I noticed the judgment was removed on all reports, and BK removed from EQ. TU deleted 1 out of 7 disputes, which are the IIB TLs. The results on the other 6 accounts stated “disputed information updated and other information updated”. EX also had the same statement for the disputed accounts with the exception of one, which states “Remains - the company that reported the information has certified to Experian that the information is accurate. This item was not changed as a result of our processing of your dispute...” EQ deleted all of the IIB TLs (yay!). Now to dispute the inquiries. LN simply stated that they verified the BK so no changes there. The BK and judgment being removed gave me hope to continue working my own credit repair instead of wasting hundreds of dollars for someone else to do it. So I endeavored to get back on my credit building journey. With that said, I’ve opted out and froze LN, and all of the other little CRAs and data mining sites. I’ve also requested full file disclosure on them too. So what should I do next? Should I proceed with sending MOV letters for the “updated” results, or start from scratch? Does it matter that the reports are dated mid-February? I figured why re-invent the wheel, right? I don’t know what the credit repair company used as a reason to dispute the IIB accounts on the CRA and LN reports. The more I read and learn, the more I feel silly for even using a credit repair company [emoji85]. Lesson definitely learned. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance! 25. Hello, I've always been someone that saved money growing up. About 7 years ago my credit score was 800 according to the loan lady at my bank who did a credit check, she told me my score and she said your credit score is AMAZING. today my score is 695. My income is just under $30,000 and I live alone. I pay my credit card in full every month through pre-authorized payments so its never late and its paid 100% in full (Max credit on it is $3000) I only have 1 credit card. I pay all my bills in time and I never was sent to collections according to "Borrowell" credit report. I don't live paycheck to paycheck and I never did and I never will, I still don't understand why my score is so low ? My credit score was 800 about 7 years ago before I did the following: - Got a $5000 loan at the bank with 8% interest ... that was paid back in full within 1 year, I always made the monthly payments in time as well. - Bought a duplex with renovation loan, it was a 5 yr fix and 25 yr loan..(broke the 5 yr fix @ 4 yrs and 3 months so there was like 9 months left... sold the duplex) - Took loans at Home Depot, Home Hardware and Kent for my "Renovation Loan" with the purchase of the duplex... it was a smart move at the time it ended up saving me quite a bit of money. - I never had a car payment loan, I always bought my vehicles outright 2nd hand and I still do. So my question is: Is it because my income is to low and I don't have enough "Credit" ... I don't have enough "Risk credit $$$" to get a higher credit score ? Is it because I did too many loans in the past and too many credit checks that it affected my credit score drastically ? Borrowell doesnt show me anything about going from 800 to 695.. its NOT showing me where I lost points.. Everything that its showing me is positive about my credit score. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
