  1. I received results back for First Premier. Page 2 shows my credit items, one is First Premier. Then the next heading is Credit Items and under it "Before dispute". Next page (page 3) shows how it reported before. Then has "after dispute". The date first reported changed, along with the account history, showing I made payments, when I did not. But on my actual report copy, First Premier shows completely different. Should I dispute any of this?? Pictures in comments.
  2. So Ive mostly been working on Experian as that has the most info on my report and seems to be the one creditors use most. Called in and got all 5 misspellings of my name removed. Spent an hour on hold in the process. But once I got someone in the fraud department it was as simple as informing them I had identity theft in the past (I did) and that maybe those names came from that. They had all kinds of addresses, including a bunch of duplicates that didnt exactly match, and some that were just plain wrong. There were almost 40 addresses. By doing disputes I have gotten that down to 11. Most of these are variations of the same addresses (with and without the condo# etc). A whole list of old or bogus phone numbers. Got all of those deleted except my current number. I have a charge-off from Credit One bank (paid in full to Midland). Ive mailed letters requesting goodwill delete and including that I have paid all my old bills and would appreciate the favor, blah blah. Will see how that goes. I still have a few paid collections reporting, from Convergent, AFNI, Portfolio Recovery. Has anyone had any luck getting these companies to delete after being paid in full? I also still need to get an incorrect name deleted from Equifax and TransUnion, and some addresses. Nothing like what was on EX though. Wow.
  3. So I'm in the process of repairing my credit. Most of the negative stuff on my report is accounts in collection. I've already disputed everything and some things have fallen off but other things have been verified. I've saved up some money to begin settling the remaining accounts on my report. My question is, what is the best order of operations for negotiating with collectors? Should I start with offering to PIF for a PFD? Or should I start with a lowball amount to settle and then ask for PFD? If they won't do a PFD, what should I make sure to have in writing before paying? And whats the safest method of paying?
  4. I’m in the process of applying for a mortgage and I have a few dings on my credit report. Three from Patelco Credit Union. One is an auto loan I paid off in April 2017 which has several 30 day lates reporting including a 30 day late for April. I noticed that the 72 month loan (originated in 10/2008) had 8 years reporting. After finally getting hold of the statements I discovered Patelco had added disability & unemployment + gap insurance to the loan. The disability insurance wasnt part of the payment. They added the fee back onto principal. I never agreed or signed off on additional insurance. I asked Patelco to provide me with a copy of the original loan documents showing where I approved the insurance but they say they cant find the documents since the loan originated in 2008. The loan was paid off in 2017. Shouldnt they have the loan docs? its hard for me to calculate the exact effect of the charges since the way it was charged changed the principal and was subject to interest. However the extra payments = $7,200. Can I use this error on their part - the NCIU says such practices are illegal - to have them remove the late payments being reported during the extra two years? could I also use this as leverage to have them delete the $3,500 credit card I had with them they wrote off and the correspoding collections entry on my CR? I cant seem to be able to get thru to anyone at Patelco who has the authority to negiotate with me. Any suggestions or should I just lawyer up. Also I have yet to receive the title to the car. By the way... the reason I flaked on the CC and lost the copy of the loan documents I had was that my wife and I lost everything in a house fire and didnt have renters insurance :-(.
  5. Was on my second round of goodwill letters to try and remove a couple 30 day lates on my reports from Target and included the CFO of TD Bank in my mailings. This was the second round of letters as my first was returned with a letter saying they are reporting factual info... I replied to that person and copied the CFO that yes indeed they are reporting factual info, and I wasn’t disputing that at all but was instead asking for goodwill, etc, etc... included my first letter, their reply and a new letter stating my request again praising TD Bank, and Target in general. Heck we do shop there often as it is. Today I got a phone call from the “Executive Administrative Assistant to the CFO” of TD Bank USA acknowledging their receipt of my request and that the CFO directed him to call and let me know they will look into my request. This kind of impressed me as I expected another thanks but no thanks letter. Nice of them to actually take the time to actually call. Still nothing may come of it but at least I feel a tiny bit special. Just thought I’d share that with you all here. 😏
  6. So I made a mistake and financed furniture for my first place. I was young and idoitic and signed a contract that stated all sales final. The contract also stated that I had seven days to get a refund for the merchandise. The merchandise was not in store and the company had to order it online. After a good nights sleep something felt off and I searched the furniture store and noticed most people got furniture that was nothing like what they wanted. I called both the financing company and the merchant to make good on their seven day policy. I never reccieved any furniture and did not walk away with anything. The merchant gave me the run around and said there was nothing they could do. The account was closed May 1st but re opened and charged May 14th. I disputed the charges as the furniture was never attempted to be delivered. I also mailed a cease and desist to both the merchant and the fiance company within the seven day period. The financing company said that I could not dispute the charges and that the contract was binding. I let them know that I still had not reccieved anything from the merchant and the financing company disputed it again. I checked my credit and the balance on the credit card dropped to zero. Is this because it’s in dispute? The balance did not decrease the first time I disputed it. I was young and made a mistake I’d just like to know my options.
  7. I was able to finance my 2. car for 2.99 % with DCU after I sold my car that I had financed with Capital One for 5,5 % and was able to pay of my credit cards which helped me alot with boosting my score. Since my credit score went up to 750 It was real easy to finance with DCU .. instant approval ... all online ... after I chose a car and send them the Purchase agreement, they overnighted the check to me. .. and the best, all with a super low 2.99 % APR ( not an all time low, because I remember them advertising a 1.99 % APR before but I'm still very happy especially since the car is used, and they gave me an option to add a 0 deductible powertrain warranty for just 30 bucks a month. I'm debating if I should refinance my 10,5 % Auto loan ( which I have with Alley) also with DCU, but then I don't know if this would be negative on my credit score since this loan is an ongoing loan with around 2 years of payment history !?

  9. In late May, I received a $500 secured loan from my credit union - which showed on reports and raised scores by mid June. I have already made first payment, and second payment coming up. My best score was EQ, 658. Over this past weekend, I opened Cap One Secured MC, $49 deposit, $200 line. I am awaiting card. So Far, so good. This afternoon, I decided to review my EQ score and report...low and behold, my score went down a whopping 70 points...and.....my bank loan entry was gone!!!! Report shows only one open, in good standing, account! Should have shown two (and soon three, once MC is activated.) I called EQ,.and the only thing they could come up with was that my bank failed to report. But I know it was on the report - last month - so any ideas as to what happened? It was too late to call my bank -- but will do so first thing in the morning, So weird -- and rather unsettling. Also....I have a GM charge off from 2016 which shows as open , reporting as recently as July 2018, yet indicates it ws closed - and doesn't show date closed. Also shows that its in dispute. Glad about that. Still, I really don't get it. Car was supposedly auctioned off in 2016, yet, I never received any notice of sale - or communication regarding the amount it was sold for. The charge off amount (approx. $3500) has been the same as original outstanding balance -; however, shouldn't it reflect final balance remaining post sale of car In 2016 ?- When all of this happened, I TRIED to discuss pay for delete with collection mgr -- and he adamantly refused. Would love to get this removed since it won't fall off for another 5 years. Otherwise, no derrogatories, only one baddie - but really need to build credit - which is why I 'm so ticked about bank loan not showing. Questions; Any thoughts on bank loan dis?appearing from EQ and a 70 pt drop? Any suggestions re charge off ? Should I try PFD letter? Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  10. crazy question but just curious. in 2014 IIB my 2014 car. from all accounts on this forum car loans are one of the easiest to get after BK. so here we are 4 years later. i'd love to lower the 5.5 rate i got at 530 a month and i think the balance is around 16K now and it was 7 year loan. i know its a sin to do this with discharged debt but as i just put 3800 into the transmission. i wont be getting rid of the car anytime soon even though it has 147K on it. i usually take my cars up to 300K at least. so just wondering if citizens would possibly refi me or if a CUs may look at me or thats just too high mileage. psecu fico was 649 last month but they dont loan until after 5 years out of BK. it's a very high mileage car and thats why i was hoping the initial bank may want to work with me to help me stay in the car so to speak. or just a crazy idea?
  11. Hi all. I applied for the unsecured Discover IT - as I read that they pulled Equifax (my highest at 658). Foolish mistake on my part -- because I would have been okay with secured, although I would not choose Discover for secured. Of course, they pulled Experian (my worst at 545) . I am down to two, albeit, one big baddie - a 2016 charge off ($3600) by GM, but have opened only one new credit line - in years -- so really need to get that going as well. Up until around three months ago, I had no inquiries on my reports. I made the mistake of going to an auto lease broker - didn't realize that in addition to the scores he pulls, car manufacturers separately pull scores as well. I wound up with four total inquiries. A few weeks later, I opened a line (secured loan) with my credit union, and my scores went up - Equifax in particular. I realized that I really needed to open more lines ...so I figured I would try Discover. Rejected. So...I now have five inquires on my reports - and no card - secured or otherwise. My question : I would like to apply for the Cap One Secured (not taking any chances), but that will mean yet another inquiry. Should I wait before I apply for the card? If so, how long? I realize that the benefits of adding the credit line may outweigh the risk of another inquiry, but not sure about this. Any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. PS - Preapprovals from Cap One online and via mail - for Quicksilver....but even so, I'm reluctant to apply - don't want to take another chance.
  12. I mean I been paying my car over the limit and I want to lower my interest rate+finish of my loan sooner but I want to do a 2-3 yr refinance loan because all I have left is 12.9k on my loan and I would be almost done. Is there any company that looks at my payment history of the same loan type?
  13. I am one month away from paying off my auto load through a local credit union. The loan is in good standing besides a little bit of late fees. Awhile back I had a credit card issued through this same credit union that I got behind on and the balance was charged off. Yesterday I was told that the title to my car is on hold and I won’t be able to get it until a balance from the credit card is paid off. My question is how can they do this if the balance of the credit card was charged off but they keep adding fees on top of it? Is my only option to pay these fees on the credit card before I can get the title to my car? Sorry for the long read and thank you for the help.
  14. Hi, Is the process the same (verifying etc..) for new debts or should I just pay them down to get my credit improved? I want them off my credit. A friend said he could clean up my credit, but he said I have to use someone's address, i.e I need a new address, someplace I haven't lived before. That sounds shady, so wondering if I can clean it up again myself. I cleaned it up a couple of years ago with the help of this board and now it's messed up again! 16. Greetings, Any recommendations on the best three credit reporting and FICO score monitoring companies to use? In the past I used totalcredit.com. My work needs became demanding, I was unable to monitor my credit as I liked so I canceled my subscription. When I tried to reactivate my account, I received a message to call customer service. After a month of trying to reach someone over the phone, I gave up. I’ve now subscribed to MYFICO which isn’t exactly what I’m looking for any recommendations?
  17. Hi everyone! This is my first post, but I started reading these forums about two months ago when I started my rebuilding journey, so thank you for everything! Anyway, check this out... I was contacted by Southwest Credit Systems in regards to an old Comcast account with an older (but not 7 years old) account with a $171 balance that was apparently left over final bill from when I moved out of NJ 4 years ago. Long story short, it turns out that this is a valid account, but was NOT showing up on any of my reports. The only reason I even knew about it was because they apparently found me here in FL. So, In an effort to do nip this in the bud, I called them and asked them what it would take to make this go away. They instantly came back with a number of $114 so I just said "Done" and paid it, got the receipt, and went on with my day. Fast forward 2 weeks, and to my great surprise an alert that a new collections account has shown up pops into my inbox. Wouldn't you know it, it was them. They reported as a new collection account, closed, $0 balance, settled in full after it was never even on there in the first place!!!! WTF????? -B
  18. Hi Again! I posted last year, https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=603880&p=5689455, about a Sprint collection I had from Dec 2016 that was in collections with AFNI. I tried disputing it with the Credit Bureaus to no avail. About month ago I noticed the AFNI collections was off of my report. I was super excited! For seven years I sat with bad credit in order to allow everything to just fall off. I then applied for credit and was approved for Discover, Capital One, Jared, and AMEX. Fast forward to now and I received a new collection letter for the Sprint account from ERC. I immediately checked my reports and sure enough they are now on there with a $1,200 collection and a newer opened date. The letter I received states I can settle with them for a one time payment of $544. I am willing to make this payment because I don't believe I owe Sprint the whole $1,200 and want it off my credit, but I want to make sure this will also remove the collection from my credit report. Will it? Should I call their office to discuss making this payment and having the collection removed? What negatives are there to contacting them or making this payment? What would you do? Ultimately, I want to have the collection removed but I don't know how. I was thinking about disputing it again but, that didn't work the first time. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
  19. How is the small claims court case usually… do you have to go speak to the judge, in front of others. Trying to get a better picture. Someone told me that in most cases if it’s for smaller amounts the collection agencies (CA) won’t bother showing up especially if they are in another state and it’s not worth it to them to hire lawyers. The minimum in my county is $1,000. Thinking of suing that amount. I read that getting the money is trickier like there are more steps to it or perhaps it happens when the court decides who’s right. Anyways, my main goal is to get the accounts deleted from credit bureaus. I know what to sue for. I also could sue Equifax maybe because they didn’t respond to every-time I disputed but I think it would be better to just sue the CA as it’ll delete it from all 3 bureaus. I still have to check the fees I need to pay the court.
  20. How to get collection/charge off accounts deleted from Credit Report? What's worked for you or others? It's shown under the Original Creditor but Collection Agencies have the accounts.
  21. My apologies if this topic is already discussed. I wasn't able to find anything meaningful in my searches. I have a Gym Membership that was sent to collections a year ago for $550. It is a valid item. As far as I can tell, they haven't broken any of the FACTA, FCRA, or FDCPA. Although, admittedly, I'm not an expert. Has anyone dealt with this type of collection before. Is there anything I can try? Thanks, Shawnda
  22. So I think I messed up. I moved into a new apartment about 6 months ago and called Charter to get internet service. While my girlfriend and I were living together, she was paying for internet under her name, and I hadn't had it under my name for a few years. Anyways, as I was setting up internet service, Charter informed me that I owed a past due amount of around $175 from previous service (which was legit, as I remember the last time I had service with them, I lost some equipment during the move). So I paid it. Fast forward 6 months, and I check my credit report. Sure enough, there is a PAID collection from Enhanced Recovery Company, which looks like it was collecting on behalf of Charter. It was added to my report the month that I started service (December of 2017). Not before, not after, but literally the month I started service. Presumably the same day I started service. They didn't tell me it was at a collection company. I don't think the debt was sold to ERC, but I dunno. Both Charter and ERC are pretty scummy, from everything i've read. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this collection removed?
  23. Welp, sorry that I am back here in need of help again. I posted here a number of years back when I was in a rut credit wise. I thought that I fixed things and updated as such on this site, but I screwed myself big time since then. I am trying to settle every account so either have them deleted (through dispute or PFD) or shown as paid or settled. I'm going to try to be as succinct as possible with my dual summary. Summary of my problems: 1. I have 6 negative open balance accounts out of 8. I have a 7th negative account not mentioned anywhere on the report. 2. 5 out of the 6 negative accounts are with CA. The 6th one shows as in collections, but it is a law firm that I believe was representing the OC. 3. Total owed from open balances (there are 2 closed, CO as well) is approximately $15,000. It's been 2 years since any payment on these accounts. 4. About $2000 is from Federal student loans, $7000 is from an eviction (I don't know if this is with the OC or the law offices that represented the OC), $6,000 from credit card, and a few miscellaneous about $100 each. 5. In addition, there are 2 closed, charged off accounts. One for $15,000, and the other for $5000. It has been approximately 2 years since these accounts have been closed and CO by the OC. Plan of Action Step 1: Purchase credit reports from the 3 bureaus Step 2: Dispute each negative account and hope that the negative accounts don't respond properly so that the account is removed from the credit reports? I didn't do this last time, so I'm guessing this is the reason for this step? Please inform me. Step 3: I want to settle every account preferably through dispute and then delete, or through PFD. Questions 1. Is 1-2 Punch still an effective strategy? Because I believe this is what I'm doing in my plan of action. 2. If an item is removed or deleted that is being reported by a CA, what happens to the previous monthly reports by the OC? 3. If an item is removed or deleted because of a dispute, is that account cleared from my CR going forward or can it pop up again? 4. Which accounts should I start paying first? Do PFD letters work when I can't pay the balance or agreed upon settlement in a lump sum? I'll need to be on a monthly plan for some of the larger debts. I'll be checking the forums and reading up. Thanks for reading.
  24. Vehicle Loan with Credit Acceptance, all CBs showing as collection account. I'm still in the car. I'll admit I haven't been consistent with payments but I'm still making payments. How can they report it as a collection? Is that legal? Should I shut up and keep driving?
  25. So I checked my credit today, as I do every few months and I find out that I have a collection listed from Convergent Outsourcing for a whopping $30 from Cox Communications. After hours of contacting both cox and Convergent I find out this is a partial bill that is related to disconnection. I am furious. I've worked very hard to better my credit since my bankruptcy and then this pops up. I never received anything from the CA. (Or cox) this debt is from 06/2016. Not a phone call, letter, email, nothing. I sent a demand letter to the CA asking for validation but after reading other forums and posts here it seems that Convergent is just going to flat out ignore the letter. How do I get the files removed from my credit reports? What's the best way to do this? Does disputing with the agency actually work? I'm in the middle of making some purchases and this is a huge deal! Please help!
