  1. My scores are 578 EX, 545 TU, 600 EQ with 1 paid charge off/3 paid collection accounts/3 unpaid accounts/ 1 $5k secured card (6mo)/2 authorized user accounts ($8k & 27k) and 4 inquiries. I would love some advice on how to proceed to get my scores higher. Should I pay off or settle my 3 unpaid accounts? they total $22k. Please advise
  2. First, Happy Saturday All!!! I hope I have placed the topic in the correct forum. Hi, I respect the opinions of the people here on credit boards and I really need some advice. I have my 2017 tax debt that Im paying on right now. It was $4400 and it is now down to about $3800. I am also $17, 840.60 in credit card debt. I am currently out of work on disability. My fixed income has allowed me to make my credit card payments on time and also keep up my payment plan for paying off my tax debt. I am married and my husband does work and he is paying some of the tax debt but he and I do not pay each other’s credit card bills. This money that I am coming to is personal money that I will not have to pay income tax on. I am going to receive $11, 700. My immediate thought was to pay my tax debt off straight away. And his is most likely what I will be doing. Now I will be left with about $8000. Here is the breakdown of my credit card debt. How should I allocate this 8K. My debt to income ratio will improve by 8 k no matter how I allocate the money but I need my credit score to go up. Amex - $5000 Limit, $4947.74 Balance (maxed) 20.99% interest BCU - $5000 Limit, $4923.51 Balance (maxed) 16.5 % Chase - $3000 Limit, $2783.96 Balance (Maxed) 0% until 10/6/18 then 25.49% Macys - $2700 Limit, $2200 Balance, 26.99% Walmart - $1780 Limit, $1679.39 Balance, 24.65% Citi - $900 Limit, $649.25 Balance, no interest until 4/11/19 Cap One - $600 Limit, $515 Balance, 24.65 % JC Penny - $500 Limit, $100 Balancce, high interest Gap - $200 Limit, $35 balance, high Interest HOW SHOULD I ALLOCATE? I want everyone who reads this to know that I will not pay down my debt just to spend on these cards again. I have learned my lesson and I want financial freedom more that I want “things” at this point in my life. Thank you so very much for your advice on this.
  3. I have an old Direct Tv collection that has been assigned to a collection agency. I am trying to get a mortgage and the UW said I need it to be paid to 0 on my reports. Direct TV will not recall the debt after speaking to a supervisor. The collection agency will not do a PFD. Should i pay the collection agency on their behalf or direct tv? It is only being reported by the collection agency and not direct tv. will paying in full reset the 7 years of reporting?
  4. Well i swore it wouldn't happen but it did. I wound up with 61% credit card utilization and need a strategy to get out of debt. I've been looking at Greenpath, also I've had part time weekend 2nd job at Lowes since February 2018, it has helped. We've cut expenses but probably can do better. Need help from the masters! Thank you in advance. Will be happy to post cc debt and expenses.
  5. Hello, Ok...ok don't laugh at me too hard. I know it sounds crazy but IF....I could pull this off and of course potential ramifications come into play; so let me have it to keep me focused. Scenario--- I have a Santander account at $1800 that was written off and sold to NCB. Both are not scheduled to fall off my credit reports until mid year 2020. The car, well for all argument sake, will run and has a great deal of sentimental value to me (and my daughter). Yes, I know it is a piece of metal that can be replaced. MarvBear has been helping me over in the Automotive section regarding some of the things I was working on getting beater etc. This is my oldest account (over 12 years), so helping my AAOA(correct???), as all my positive tradelines have been created just this year. So, here is where all the IF's come into play (insert some of the Keven Hart's Ok...OKKKKKay....Okkayyyy's in here now lmao). If, the Florida motor vehicle information confirming the title lien is still in Santanders name(again from other post in Automotive); and I want to get the title thus going through Santander ultimately at some point. If I wait till both Santander and NCB fall off my report, I will still want the title and will have to go through this with Santander at some point, correct to get a title? So, I am thinking "IF" I contact Santander and work this deal out---(yes I know good luck) -We agree to a dollar amount of $900.00 (total amount) -This will get NCB removed (part of the agreement-after my first payment is received) -The even bigger IF...request they re-age it and remove all the negative payments (stop laughing now) -even if they don't remove the negative payments, I will end up paying $900.00 and get the title -understanding if they make this as X-amount of payments that I agree to(thus the re-aging) help to get this as paid in full as I do want to purchase a home in the near future--next 1-2 years. -definitely getting this in writing from them I understand this re-aging will put me on the hook for up to another long 7 years of restarting the clock if I sign an agreement with them. I remember some of the situation, where I thought I owed 1 last payment and then all this interest from "no where" came out along with my decline in body/mind unable to work scenario back then...it was a hot mess. At the end of the day, if they said max amount you owe us is $1800(no further interest will accrue--flat out $1800), we will accept payments on this and update it on your credit report (I would have to have the removal of the baddies), with the REMOVAL OF NCB (after first payment or something) and then I get the title; I would do it. I am looking at, I did owe them something and I want the title. Ultimately trying to turn a re-aging into something positive on my oldest AAOA and get the NCB tradeline removed off my credit report to boot. Trying to turn the lemon to lemonade. Ok....smack me around and keep me focused please.
  6. I will try to give a cliffnote version & hopefully you all will have some good advice. Hubby & I went through a very bad time for several years & our Credit was in the dumps. Repos, charge offs etc... He had been extremely ill from a near fatal heart attack & needed a heart transplant (11/29/09 ❤️Thank you to our donor who is forever in our prayers). This left him disabled & on SSDI. I had to work part time to care for him & our credit took a major hit. We filed Chapter 7 & started to rebuild then got hit again with hard times but muddled through it. I finally was able to go back to work full time making decent money & w e started to rebuild our credit. Things were FINALLY looking up for us. We were excited watching our scores go up, being able to actually pick out a new car instead of the dealer saying no this is the only car you ca n have... we were able to obtain credit cards with decent limits etc.. then I lost my job. Unemployment paid me the max but that whole month was not even what I made in one paycheck! We were still squeezing by but barely. I was having a hard time finding a job & just as unemployment ran out I got hurt & had to have major surgery which landed me on disability for 9 months plus a ton of medical bills. Now we were starting to fall a little behind on things. Then & still no job....which means no way of paying the bills. We were devastated as we watched everything come crashing down around us. We fough hard to climb our way up & we couldn’t even offer $10 a month to some of our cards. Slowly they began closing them & then the charge offs started. I watched as our scores nosedived. It was like someone punched me in the stomach. So now we’re down to barely any open credit lines left. One car we managed to pay off through all of this & we’re almost caught up with our other car (that is the bright spot in all of this). I start a new job next week & we will slowly rebuild again. My question is this, since most were charged off & bought by collection agencies if I pay these will I be able to reapply for a card / Credit with that company again after we rebuild our credit back up? I am hoping all bridges weren’t burnt by the charge offs. Any advice is greatly appreciated! This sucks having to do this all over again. We do not want to do BK again so we’re trying to see if we can pay the charge offs. Does this sound like something we should do still?

Is it still possible to do that?
  8. Hi all, long time follower, new member, first post. Good stuff up front. Details later. Scores: July 7 - TransUnion Vantage - 652 - July 28 - 731 (+79) June 22 - Experian Vantage - 688 - July 28 - 736 (+48) July 6 - Experian FICO - 714 - July 28 - 761 (+47) July 26 - Equifax Vantage - 660 - July 28 - 737 (+77) June 26 - Equifax FICO - 711 Background: I was a very successful Realtor for 12 years, but I lost my spouse to Cancer in 2011. After that ordeal and a bout of grieving/depression, my score bottomed out in the low 500's. Lots of late payments--sometimes due to lack of money--sometimes due to a lack of energy to pay the bills. I started rebuilding my credit with a secured card 5.5 years ago. The last seriously late payment dropped off my report last Spring. The facts: 1) Your payment history counts more than other single item in your score calculation (no news here). 2) Credit utilization is considered next. 3) Credit age is almost as important as credit utilization. 4) Recent inquires have a minimal impact. My idea: As a Realtor and a student of credit, I have always been told that transferring balances from one account to another does not greatly impact your credit score. However, I am a student of bureaucracies and how to find loopholes in their systems. So, my idea is that I know that I can handle my debt load, but each of my accounts reports on a different day of the month (typically 1-4 days after the statement prints). By transferring balances between accounts, I can decrease my credit utilization--the second most important part of the score calculation. The Numbers: I have 7 credit card accounts showing on my reports: On July 1 here is what my reports showed... Limit/Balance 23,100/20,600 15,000/14,700 8,000/8,004 9,500/8,000 5,000/2,200 5,000/1,400 8,000/0 Credit Utilzation 76%, several cards close to limit, and one card over limit. I had some money to apply to these balances, but all did some transferring around and today, my report shows... Limit/Balance 23,100/9,600 15,000/13,600 8,000/300 9,500/300 5,000/1,100 5,000/1,400 8,000/0 Credit Utilization 35%, only one card close to limit, nothing over. In two more, weeks, I will be done with moving some additional balances and my report will show... Limit/Balance 23,100/500 15,000/300 8,000/300 9,500/300 5,000/1,100 5,000/1,100 8,000/0 Credit Utilization will be 5%, nothing close to limit. My reasons: 1) I wanted to see if I could do this and what the impact would be. 2) I need some capital for my business and rates will be better if my score is better. Lessons learned: 1) Credit only matter on the day that you apply. 2) Credit utilization is really two things (a) total utilization AND (b) utilization per account. I'll post my results back once I am done with this project (about August 13)
  9. Not quite a newbie, 80% of my disputes have been successful. It's clean up time again so I thought I would get a little creative. I've been doing a lot of reading, as usual, and I've taken in all of the info pertaining to the E-Oscar system. We all cookie cutter letters posted online usually get flagged as verified. So I stumbled on some copy/scan proof paper from a online retailer I use for work. I used some funky handwritten script that I found online and just flat out wrote a letter - in my own words. And I made sure not to make it sound too formal or litigious. The letter is formatted out of the usual order of a typical dispute with the text printed in a medium grey. The paper: is a very light grey, and when copied says "Unauthorized Copy". To add insult to injury, I highlighted all of my personal information using a really deep red high lighter that prevents you from reading the information if copied. All of this - hopefully, will put my dispute in the pile for manual review by an actual human. The certified letters were sent out to each of the bureaus yesterday on 6/25. I'll keep you all updated and if your curious, , feel free to PM me for the information on the paper. But, honestly I'd wait until the verdict is in to weigh out if the investment in the paper is worth it. Wish me luck. Side note: by some glitch in the Matrix, my credit file for TU has been split, with all of the crap on a locked file, and all of the positive credit on another file. As of 6/25: TU (good file) 603/ TU (crappy file) 499/ EQ 503 / EX 510 My credit utilization is a huge factor in these scores over 70% (funerals suck BTW)- but was paid down to 28% earlier today. Statements don't close for another week or so. So I'm sure I'll get to update before the dispute with the difference in score once these statements close.
  10. I use to know a lady who help you get out of chexsystems in 30 days. lost her contact does anyone know of a service?
  11. Hello, I am at the point of getting pre-qualified to purchase my home after many years of not having one due to a divorce. My auto loan has hit my report as 30 days late within the last couple of days and it's not. That's 1 and 2 the late paying history is all over the place and not accurate. I would love to get this entry removed from my credit file altogether. I am hoping that you have a good letter that I can send to the bureaus to get this removed. A bit more background. I did work to get this updated to paid as agreed from the company and they said it is verified as accurate. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Viola
  12. Hello All. I hope I am posting in the right section, I've been reading the rules. But let's hope straight to my inquiry. I recently ran my CR and noticed a Collections Account was placed there in 12/2017. Now, I can recall this company, however, there is a backstory to this. I was a partner at an LLC in the state of OH. I can not recall ever giving them my SSN as its a business and I had access to the EIN and I left the company and state well over a year or so ago. I thought I performed my due diligence, I made sure to remove my name from the licenses and even filed an amendment with the secretary of state at the end of 2017 just as a precaution to basically say "Hey I'm no longer involved with this company, all business matters will should be referred to the current registered agent on file". I even have a notarized purchase agreement for my own personal records just in case of any legal actions that may arise from my tenure there. My question is what is the best method for removing this from this derogatory mark from my CR, its currently only reporting to one CRA, EQFX, but it's affecting my score by over 100+ pts. Should I file a dispute with the CRA, do a DV or try the Pay for Delete method? I am not sure, I am a newbie that just looking for the best solution out of this. My other scores are EQ 760 and TU 756. I have posted a screenshot of mentioned account. Any recommendations, help, advice, and guidance is appreciated.
  13. Hello! I am closing on a loan shortly, but I would also like to finish cleaning up my credit. I have a couple of stragglers and it seems this one below must be the one pulling down my score still due to the "status as of date/" I opened this card up in South Carolina, their SOL is 3 years, so I am well past this timeline. At this point, I just want the balance to show zero (I will do this after I close on the house because this wasn't requested to be paid off). What is the lowest you think I could settle to have this show a balance of zero, even if it states settled for less than full amount. It will still be better than continuing to update (even though it's been a few months maybe they stopped). I would like it to show 0. Any input is appreciated. Status as of Mar, 2018 Date opened [?] Oct, 2012 Date of last activity [?] Jul, 2014 Loan type [?] Credit Card Credit limit [?] $2,000 Account Type [?] Revolving Account holder [?] Individual Scheduled Payment Amount [?] $2,209 Industry All Banks Balance [?] Current Status [?] Past Due Amount [?] $2,917 Charge-off $704 Seven year payment history [?] 30 days late 2 times 60 days late 2 times 90+ days late/other derogatory 12 times (Feb 2015, Jan 2015, Dec 2014) Descriptions [?] Charged off account Account closed by credit grantor
  14. Just had the last collection removed from all three bureaus. It was PRA.. (Yes you can get them off..:P) This caused my experian FICO 8 score to drop 15 points. 611 down to 596. The only thing I can think is that it caused my credit age to go down. Everything else stayed the same. Just seems weird that removing a baddie causes a score drop under FICO 8 model.
  15. A few months back some will recall that I had a huge issue with a credit union and with incorrect data they received regarding my name. Just about everyone has a "twin" out there -- somewhere meaning a name very similar to yours, your social, and your DOB.. there are people who are crafty enough to use your name as well or you name can be associated with places you lived. I always thought my name was so unique -- but it really is not.. there is someone with my name that is using my gmail and I can't get it to stop and I am positive that is how many things are winding up on Lexus Nexus.. anyway I digress... Through my research on LN I discovered that they were retrieving data from at least 6 other data furnishing sources.. some so much as supply complete banking info of my balances and when personal checks were cashed through my accounts. My original comprehensive report was over 250 pages long -- yes probably close to 300. On about 50 of those pages provide associate with names -- I may or may not have known. However, if I know these people or not they have no business being associated with me personally. This report include the their addresses, husbands, wives, children and many many entries include the last 6 digits of their social security number. I have since had all that information removed.. and are now disputing the email addresses. However I did promise Breeze that I would give the names of these other data furnishers ( I am more than positive some of them are violating the law, one Data furnisher -- SageStream allowed me to call them, order my reports, them send it to me. Then when I disputed asked for ID.. umm should you not have done that first?? SageStream phone 888-395-0277 Consumer Report they supply certain credit reporting like LendingClub, SnapFinancing, Webbank, and Overstock Early Warning 800-745-1560 Consumer Reports on your banking activity and transactions, all bank balances, openings and closings and why, if you are an account risk or not, and any banking inquiries. 16. In June I had two credit limit reductions, why I do not know. 1. I paid off collections, but had quite a few inquires as I was trying to refinance a car loan. 2. My score tank but not by much. 3. c21 and Ann Taylor decided to reduce my credit limits. c21 from $400 to $150 then AT $250 to $100 right after I place two small orders and of course that made my scores tank even further. I have paid those cards off and I am considering closing, will this hurt me even further?
  17. Hello everyone, my wife and I are looking to finalize some last minute strategy before we pull her credit to try to obtain a mortgage and get the highest possible score boost. In order to grow her score the past several years I added her to some of my oldest and/or highest limit cards as an AU, but I do have a few balances albeit with very friendly balance transfer rates. In the meantime we've been solely attacking the cards that are in her name only. Here's what her report showed on her most recent pull (696 EQ middle score, TU was 702, EXP was 685): Amex BCE 242 / 3000 8.1% *PIF, this will report as 0 balance on 7/17/18 Amex Everday 0 / 1000 0% Wells Fargo Visa 49 / 8500 0.6% *PIF, this will report as 0 balance on 7/16/18 Capital One Platinum 0 / 3500 0% Chase Slate 0 / 6500 0% Chase Freedom 0 / 500 0% Discover 0 / 2200 0% Victoria Secret 0 / 6000 0% Dress Barn 0 / 1570 0% Citi Simplicity 1558 / 3300 47.2% *currently 0% interest, will report next on 7/21/18 FNBO 9350 / 30000 31.2% (AU) Amex BCP 3000 / 33000 9.1% (AU) BofA 6129 / 13200 46.4% (AU) citi diamond 0 / 14700 0% (AU) kohls 0 / 1500 0% (AU) Our main question: would the 2 dollar trick work if we use it on the citi simplicity card and only pay 1556, assuming we pull again after 7/21 and let BCE and WF Visa report as zero by that time? Or will this not work because other balances are being carried elsewhere, even though they are on the AU accounts which are only my financial responsibility? please note I am not applying for the mortgage, it will only be in her name. Pretty sure we'll crack 700 middle score either way, but we're really hoping to hit 720+ for various extra advantages in the mortgage application process. Any input or experience in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your help over the years, we have come a long way and are very close to landing the home of our dreams. We could not have done it without you.
  18. Are there disadvantages for having positive authorized user accounts on your report? When applying for a credit card, do they take into account how many accounts someone is an AU on?
  19. so, i have a number of old charge off's with balances-out of SOL and over 7 yrs or more old..smart to try and remove them? id lose some aged accounts but also the neg trade lines so it looks like an either or to me... thanks!

  21. If you have a feeling that if your situation doesn’t change soon for the better that you will eventually have to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, but you’ve been given the opportunity to at least pay off collection accounts that are passed the SOL that are on your credit report is it worth paying those off first? Does a bankruptcy on someone’s credit report with a bunch of collection accounts included in a bankruptcy for 10 yrs look exactly the same as a bankruptcy on your credit report but with absolutely NO collections?
  22. My mental health (such as it ever was) has been going through a good deal of modifications, evolutions, confusions, contusions, concussions, percussions, woodwinds, winds in willows, and chirping cardinals lately (you heard me). As a result of my ever-wounded psyche's new position, the rental collection I've been talking about, and only talking about (gross) for about 2½ years now and that some of you followed in the thread linked below, is on the front burner, for at least two reasons. One is that I now have an understanding, if only of the faintest kind, that I actually do owe money and that I don't want to be a thief or a fly-by-night. Another is that I'm just plain mentally healthier and less burdened by childish anxiety and social paralysis - both of which are gross. Now I feel poised to stroll over to the old apartment complex - it's walking distance from where I currently live - and tell them I want to take care of this. Link #1 https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=553853 Link #2 https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=564811&hl=%2Brental+%2Bsidewinder+%2Bcollection&do=findComment&comment=5459215 I've not looked at my report in a long time so I'm actually not even sure if the debt's been sold to a CA/JDB by now, I'm crossing my fingers that it hasn't been so I have the option of paying the complex, getting a receipt, and using the tactic ICAN outlines in this post Link #3 https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=496348 for getting the derog removed. It's on both EQ and TU and it's my only derog. However, in this here thread Link #4 https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=537970 ICAN cautions against ever letting them know you're going to start house hunting or credit repair. As I've rehearsed the conversation in my mind, the apartment office asks why I'm only acting on this now, two years after the collection appeared on my credit file. The real reason is thathave finally realized that I cannot afford my current over-schnazzy apartment, must (stay with me now) move to a less expensive one and have read here on CB that you can't get approved for an apartment lease if you have a rental collection showing; i.e., I am finally more motivated (threatened?) to start real credit repair. But - at least according to ICAN, to whom I'm happy to defer on these matters - I oughtn't let them know that I'm starting credit repair. At the same time, in order for the tactic in link #2 to work, I have to get a receipt from the complex; and I shall have to make that crystal clear to them when we are working things out; how to make it as crystal clear as possible and not tip my hand that I have a secret objective of getting this baddie off of my report? In order for me to have enough courage and walk into the old place's office and start the conversation, I need to be very well-rehearsed; I don't think I would be without a ready answer to that why-only-now question. I am spinning my wheels on this one.
  23. Hello Everyone, In light of my recent troubles, I contacted Capital One about 2 closed accounts I have with them. One balance of 2100 and one with 1300. None are 30 days past due. They float around 20 days past due each month. I was offered on one account, 3 months of no fees in interest, and on the higher balance one, no fees and interest with a 60 month 43.00 minimums payment. Anyone else here use such programs?
  24. Hello Members, Just want to say thanks for credit board, such good people here. Im trying to delete some accounts off my report, Experian and Equifax are being difficult. I haven't tried sending them MOV letter. I wanted to ask if sending a copy of TransUnion deletions for those same accounts to Experian and Equifax will get any success for deleting those items. Just a thought, let me know.
  25. Hello all, Pulled my CR for the first time in 10 years. I am 50yrs old and noticed I had no new activity for the last 5 yrs...just my monthly mortgage pmt for the last 20 yrs and my truck loan paid off in 2013. Out of those two accounts I do have a lot of late payments. Mortgage (Chase) has 30 lates between Nov-2011/Sept-2017 and paid off closed truck (Santander) has 12 lates from Nov-2011/Feb-2013. trying to clean report up I did an online dispute with transunion thru Credit karma disputing all my lates. just got an email with dispute results stating the following below. Went straight to my CR and the only thing that changed was my name format. Just didn't know what the next step would be to try to rid of lates or if I should wait to see if anything changes/updates. didn't know changes if any should reflect immediately? Thanks, Noob Item Results Result: Disputed Information Updated And Other Information Updated - The item you were disputing has been updated, and there have also been some updates to your account info. You’ll see all of these changes on your report. Dispute Reasons Accuracy: The amounts, other than balance and/or past due, are incorrect. The payment history/rating is incorrect
