Hi everyone! I am new to CB and I absolutely love it already. I've been reading a lot but nothing seems to match my particular case so I decided to start a new topic... I'm 23 years old and when I was 18 I moved out with my two "best friends" because one had been kicked out of her house and well I was SUCH a great friend so I decided to help her out and move with her. It ended up being a dramatic disaster where I was the only one with a job so I was paying everything! I asked them to remove me from the lease (3 people total including me on the lease). They agreed to remove me from the lease and I made the mistake of moving out prior to the removal. Once I was moved out they decided they could not afford it without me and they moved out too. So now there are two negative accounts from this lease on my report; one for $3,000+ and another for $500 with NCC Business Services. The lease was opened 8/2010 and we left the apartment either 12/2010 or 1/2011. The account shows up on my credit report March, 2013. I should mention I live in Arizona and the account was also opened in Arizona. Now I have been working with Lexington Law for almost three months now and they were able to remove some smaller negative accounts from my Transunion report (Cox cable, LabCorp) and have "disputed" with all three credit bureaus. I haven't received any letters from anyone and when I ask for advice on whether I should contact NCC Business Services or not, they say that I should send a "pay for delete" letter. I have been reluctant to contact NCC Business Services because I read on one of the forums that if they have not attempted to contact I can fight them off. I am wondering if I should try to solve this through the courts so that all three of us can pay off the $3000+ together and not just me by myself. I really want to fix my credit! Help please! Thank you in advance Kewljess

Recently i sent a PFD letter to FCO (Fair Collections & Outsourcing) via email to "Rcarroll@fco.com", First i received what seemed to be an automated message from "no-reply@fco.com" They responded with "This office received your correspondence and pursuant to our obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, previously investigated your account and responded to you regarding it. Our client recently provided us with additional documentation which we are enclosing it for your convenience. This communication is from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact this office at the numbers listed below. Sincerely, Collections Department" Attached was a copy of my original lease as well as an itemized list of the charges. So i responded: Thank you for attempting to validate the debt. However, I am requesting a copy of the signed lease agreement with my legal name AND social security number, as well as, proof of the charges from Neponset Landing, rather than just a statement. In addition you did not respond to my settlement request or my pay for delete. I look forward to working with you personally, rather than having automated responses. Thank you, Their responds came in from a different email address : "Rcarroll@fco.com" it said: "If you have additional questions please contact the attorney handling this matter who is listed below:" Attorneys Contact Information So i asked if the attorney represented FCO or the original creditor, they responded "Creditor" Then i called the attorney, He confirmed they now had the account and have been trying to reach me. They also said FCO was fired from collecting the debt and it was turned over to them. My question is, What are my options? How should i handle FCO? They are still the only company reporting this debt on my credit report but since they don't own the debt can they legally report it? Any input or suggesting would be great appreciated

And so is my scores. According to the experian fico simulator, if I pay down my outstanding debt, I should be expecting increases but instead , Ive been experiencing decreases? Over night my utilization dropped from 123% to 98% and suffered another 3pts because I paid off an installment agreement that was turned into a revolving account that should have increased my utilization. Last week the same thing happened when I paid down my utilization from 188% to 123 % it dropped 10 pts then. Within the next 30 days , my reports will show that a recent collection has been removed and even more of my debt will be paid down, should I expect some more of the same score droppings until its all zeroed out? This is kinda discouraging but at the same time I know there has to be a good outcome of some kind in the future.

I am anticipating my TPD discharge for $100K & some change student loan debt spring 2016. I asked the person at the TPD dept if I am going to have to pay taxes on it and she said no. Now as I start to see a light at the end of this very dark tunnel ... I am finding I should expect to get a 1099-C for it after all. This won't be an issue until I file my 2016 taxes in '17 but if I file married it will put our income well into the astronomical tax bracket. Obviously I have no income but my spouse is over 6 figures. We're paying expenses for 2 separate households in two states, lots of travel between. (Home is Alaska where he works but I have to be in Lower 48 for medical care.) Our credit is crap due to my insane medical and we're over extended. Now that I'm stable and no longer terminal ... When you're facing death nothing as trivial as credit really matters... I've enrolled in the Dave Ramsey course to start to get our finances on track and fix everything. Should I start planning now to pay that $30K+ tax bill? That is gonna hurt! We have a balloon on our mortgage in 4 years and will need to refinance but have about $30K in bad debt we probably have to pay to clear (judgements) before getting a re-fi. Help!

So I had quite a few late with Wells Fargo student loans in 2013 -- last one was in August of 2013, reporting as a 60 day late (the rest were all 30 day late, about 5 of them prior to 8/13) ... they called me today and said they found an error that I was intact only 30 days late, and are changing the 60 to a 30 today electronically. This is my only account with late, and I have one collection left from 2009 Im disputing for immediate removal (medical) ... will a change from 60 to 30 day see any kind of score jump ? I am told a 60 day late is much worse than a 30 day late, or at least somewhat. My current scores FICO 8 are around 636! up from 580 in july ! Weigh in credit experts! Will this change do anything for my score, even though this was over 2 years ago? Is it even affecting my score at all anymore ? Thank you all in advance ! :-)

Hi all! So I currently have a First PREMIER CO due to age off in April 2016, but it is unpaid and I'm looking to buy a home soon. The company MAY be willing to do a PFD due to the account age of 6.4 years -- if I pay this and it is removed, am I likely to see a score bump? My scores have risen dramatically in 11 months of rebuilding - from low 500s to 631 on average !! When I disputed this account with EQ, it raised my score 27 points but then fell back after it was validated. So if I pay it, am I likely to get that bump back if it is removed or even update to PAID CHARGE OFF ? I know paying a collection will not bump score, but what about a CO ? It is still reporting monthly as an open unpaid CO!! Im weighing my options as the total is just $420.00. and I can swing it. Weigh in please, as I'm really trying to hit 680 by Christmas (also majorly lowering my UTIL overall, scores climbing monthly!). This will be my last baddie except for one medical debt aging off in novmeber !! Thank you all in advance !

Hi all! So I recently succeeded in getting my second last collection off of my bureaus -- a medical collection of $1200 with Mercantile Adjustment. The hospital actually forgave the debt 3 years ago but never reported it to the COL AGENCY and it finally came off thanks to my due diligence. Got a 5 point score bump too :-) At 636 now (EXPERIAN), up from 578 just in July!! NOW, I have one more due to age off in November (Experian is excluding early for me).. California Buisiness Bureau. The balance is $1705 with the hospital (OC) but they want $2200 to pay it off and they will delete early...extortion if you ask me!! I declined and want to know if theres ANY WAY to get this off early based on HIPAA, or DV or disputing? I tried disputing with CRA (EXP) and they just came back validated. Are there any other options for me to be aggressive or should i just wait ? The collection is from early 2009, so I imagine it barely hurts my score now? The collection removed overnight was from 2011-2012, much more recent. Any advice would be appreciated! I want t have a clean report when I app spree for new cards in October/November, so waiting wouldn't kill me, but I'm impatient. I have $10,850 in credit, at 43% UTIL - paid down to 29% which will report end of month. So expecting a bump there too! Thank you all for advice -- you are all wonderful here!! Scores: EXP 636 TU 633 EQ 600 * Not on this report

I am floored ... I had a COL from Mercantile Adjustment on my EXPERIAN for 3 years now, for an old hospital bill. $1200. I called them today, of course they were rude and demanded payment, so I called the OC (hospital) and was informed that they FORGAVE this debt in 2012!!! It should have never been reported at all!! So, the rep called MERCANTILE and they immediately agreed to delete and sent the electronic request to delete from all three bureau today!!! I am told this will only take 24-48 hours to remove by Experian (Ive had collections removed before and it is correct -- super fast!). Now, this collection was added in 2011, and is reporting as unpaid since 2011. Will this deletion likely see a score bump?? My AAofA is 7 years, oldest 13 years, score FICO 8 is 631 .. this is my last major baddie except for 3 30-day late from 11 months ago on student loans. All else 100% current, 6 open credit cards all perfect and UTIL lowering by the day. Im told the only way collections give a score bump is by their deletion, so here's hoping!!!! Weigh in please credit experts :-)

I have an AMEX with no set spending limit and no defined minimum monthly payment. The verbiage simply says that the whole balance is due each month. Earlier this year, while in between jobs, I made some payments that were not the full outstanding balance, but were always a minimum of $500 and I can provide records of these payments occurring prior to the due date. These payments also represented 25-50% of the total balance. These are now showing up as multiple late payments and it's really lowering my credit score. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation and seen these late payments removed from their credit report? Also, is there any long term damage to your credit if the disputes are rejected? Trying to decide if it's worth disputing or not.

I have a friend, "Z". He's applied for a job where they ran his credit, and it came back with several negative marks. The company is willing to hire him pending one of two outcomes: 1. He has to pay off his outstanding past-due debts to below $2,500. 2. Alternatively, he can have more than $2,500 in past due debt, providing his has written proof of repayment plans worked out with the creditors. He doesn't have the funds to just pay everyone off at the moment in full, so I was suggesting to him that as much as possible, try to dispute the collections on his report to reduce the total amount of unpaid past-due debt in the eyes of his would-be employer, then have them run the report again. I’ve listed everything I’ve found on his report below, then at the bottom of this post, I have a suggested course of action. Anyone who is willing to review my suggestions and critique them would have my appreciation! Here's what's on his TU report, the one they pulled: Adverse Accounts: A civil judgement filed in the local circuit court, in the amount of $5,041. He was in a homeowners association condo in which he stopped paying the HOA fees due to the poor maintenance that was done around the building. The judgement was filed: 11/18/2014 and Updated: 12/13/2014. An open collection by CAVALRY PORTFOLIO SVCS with the OC of HSBC, in the original amount of $459, past due amount is $470. Question: He doesn't remember having a card issued by HSBC. A collection by MIDLAND FUNDING LLC, original amount $890, the past amount of $1183, with an OC of Credit One Bank. This collection was for a Visa card issued by Credit One Bank originally, but the original account has since been charged off and sold to MIDLAND. A collection by an outfit called MCSI (Municipal Collection Service Inc) for a parking ticket originally issued by Hickory Hills police department for $250 back on 6/07/2012. A collection by MUNICIPAL COLLECTIONS OF AMERICA for past due of $506, originally a parking ticket issued by the Village of Midlothian for $375. A collection by MUNICIPAL COLLECTIONS OF AMERICA for past due of $481, originally a parking ticket issued by Village of Lansing, IL. Items 7 thru 11 on this list are all medical collections. A collection by RICHARD P KAMYATTE ASSOC, past due amount of $163, original creditor MEDICAL-NW INDIANA PATH CONSULTANTS PC. A collection by RICHARD P KAMYATTE ASSOC, past due amount of $152, original creditor MEDICAL-MUNSTER RADIOLOGY GROUP. A collection by RICHARD P KAMYATTE ASSOC, past due amount of $54, original creditor MEDICAL-MUNSTER RADIOLOGY GROUP. A collection by RICHARD P KAMYATTE ASSOC, past due amount of $195, original creditor MEDICAL-MUNSTER RADIOLOGY GROUP. This was placed for collection originally 1/27/2014 and updated on 10/24/2015. This particular collection appears to be duplicated on my friend’s credit report. The date originally placed, date updated, dollar amount of $195 and also partial account number that isn’t covered by asterisks all match up. A collection by RICHARD P KAMYATTE ASSOC, past due amount of $140, original creditor of MEDICAL-COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OUTPATIENT. A collection by SW CREDIT SYSTEMS INC, past due amount of $1,562, original creditor was AT&T UVerse. My friend moved and didn’t return the original tv boxes and equipment, but he still has them in his storage unit. A collection by UNIQUE NATIONAL, past due amount of $50, original creditor of GREEN HILLS PUBLIC LIBRARY. Personal Information on Report: There’s five addresses listed for my friend on his report, none of which are current. Additionally, there’s a half dozen phone numbers, also none of which are current. There’s a half dozen jobs on his work history portion, all of which are previous companies he’s worked for or owned. As some of the collections currently on his report might be tied to these companies, it would seem beneficial to dispute them and request they be deleted. Suggested Actions/Questions: Personal Information: Make a photocopy of my friend’s driver’s license with his current address and mail it to the CRA, requesting to remove all of the old and outdated addresses, phone numbers and job history. Wait for their response before disputing any of the collections, as hopefully this will make it harder for them to verify the debts if the old addresses and phone numbers that were associated with the debts are no longer on his report. After this is completed, move on to addressing the adverse accounts, using the methods below. Adverse Accounts: (numbering matches 1 thru 13 above) As for my friend’s civil judgement for the unpaid home owner’s association fees, I’ve suggested he take up his options with his other friend who is an attorney. He has no interest in taking the HOA court, but he does need to deal with this large amount to get below the $2500 to get hired. I’ve suggested he look into the option of a payment plan with the HOA, providing they delete it off his report once it is paid off. Furthermore, I’ve suggested to see if they are willing to take less than the full amount owed and put it in writing. Is it possible to write HSBC and ask them as a goodwill gesture to remove or reduce the amount owed, even though it has been sold to CAVALRY PORTFOLIO SVCS? If goodwill is not an option, would it more advisable to write a dispute letter to TU and the other CRA’s and hope they don’t respond and verify? If it is verified, then go for a payment plan and ask for a pay-for-delete option? Use the same approach of goodwill as suggested in #2 above, only with Credit One Bank? If that fails or isn’t an option, dispute first, then if verified, try to do a payment plan for pay-for-delete? For the vehicle tickets items #4 thru #6, I was thinking he should try to write dispute letters to the CRA’s first, and only if they verify them, then offer balance reduction/PFD with the collection agencies. See above. See above. Items #7 thru #11 are all medical debts. Suggesting to my friend he use the whychat method of HIPPA dispute letters and wait to see if they respond, hopefully not, dropping it off the report. See above. See above. This is a duplicate entry from what I can tell. In the dispute letter to the CRA’s, should I mention it appears to be a duplicate? Or should I have my friend write two separate dispute entries within the dispute letter, one for each collection, even though they appear identical? Same suggested action as #7. Having my friend try to find the last invoice he received from AT&T Uverse. I’ve instructed him to try and find the official amount owed when his account was closed out, including non-returned equipment fees. After subtracting the amount they charged for the unreturned equipment, see if he can work out a payment arrangement with the remaining balance? Seeing the amount is small, try to work out a deal to pay the $50 to the library and ask them to forward a copy of the paid debt to collection agency, or should I have him dispute this first? Thank you for any help you can provide, as I know this is a long read and my friend’s report needs lots of help. He’s a bit overwhelmed, but I’m excited to try and help him once I know what is the proper chronological order and method to attack it all!

Back story: I got laid off back in 2008, 3 days after giving birth. I was unemployed for 3 years before first income in 2011. Stabilized my income before I started credit repair journey for 2 years now. Paid off and removed most collections and paying on time everything else. I currently have 2 hospital judgments (totaling $5000) from giving birth in 2008. I called the hospital to determine exact amount and they forwarded me to the hospital Lawyer who handles the judgments for them and they refused to take my payments at the hospital billing office. I wanted to follow WhyChat HIPAA method but I am not sure how to proceed since; 1. the charges are valid and error free, and the judgments have been recorded (I verified via the courts records website). 2. The company handling the judgments is not a collecting agency but the hospital's representative lawyer ( I verified the relationship). Any assistance on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated. p.s. I have been a lurker here for over a year. this is my first post. Thank you credit board.

Hi all! I'm dealing with a huge commission cut this year due to retail patterns changing. I took a credit card out, to pay for rent, and now the 24.99% APR kicked in and is BALLOONING. It is now over the CL bc I accrued a late fee. CL is 3300 (now 3324.00). My partner and I have need to move out our apartment but our lease ends in Nov, so we still need to save for the move out. This is essential bc we can no longer afford the rent due to the pay cut and piling bills. Right now, living paycheck to paycheck and wondering what to do next with an Experian 644. Where do. I go from here? Please help

Hi all I am new here. I found this place after a Google search and tired of being 39 and never had credit thanks to my ex. So I clicked on the Google search and checked it out and became hooked within 30 seconds. I have a few questions from my reading non stop the last week. So I just created my account and I hope to learn so much from folks that have been there and done that. And I wanted to create a journal so others can follow my progress. Please note some info below might be hard to read. But I wanted to share a bit about how I got here. Here is a short bit about me: I am a single mom and have been on my own now just over 2 years with full custody of my kids. I was a SAHM before leaving my ex after finding out he was forcing himself on me when I was asleep at night while on my sleep medication. I have to take ambien for sleep and yes he was having " ambien sex" on me when I was out sleeping. Then if I slightly remembered an image from the night before and questioned it he told me I was crazy. Once myself and my doctor figured it out, he was arrested and sits behind bars. I was on ambien after battling ovarian cancer and had to get a full hysterectomy 5 years ago. Ever since I have severe insomnia which stinks so bad. Now I am healing and in a great place along with my kids. We moved far away and it is very hard to be a single mom with no friends, family, etc to help. And add in bad credit and it is down right depressing as heck! Recently I finally decided I was going to get my life 100% on track with my credit and education. . So this how I got here. I am trying to improve my credit, improve my education so I can get a better job, and improve my life for my kids. I currently have a good job but only make $24,000 a year. I barely squeak by. I mean barely. I do t won't to live pay check to pay check. So part of my improvements is to go back to school starting online first and then nights. So that I can get a better job with a higher pay. I want to be able to have credit and just enjoy my kids and see they are healthy and happy and not under stress because mommy is so stressed. So that is a small part of me. Now onto a few questions: 1) I know I have to remove old Addie's - can I do that without having paper reports? Or do I need those in hand first? 2) speaking of paper reports - how do you order them. I didn't see that in my search but I am horribly sometimes in searching. Do I do it over the phone? Or do I ha e to write? I do not have a denial from something g to get it that way. 3) THIS IS MY MAIN QUESTION- my score on credit karma is 500. Yes I know fako score. I will order my true scores next week. But here is where I get lost. I have a lot of collections on my report from my ex where he had me on his CC's as a joint account. And there is a cable collection, a few medical ones etc. these all went j to collections in 2007-2009. Well now the collections agencies have resubmitted them on my reports with date of last activity as 2015. A lot in April and May. So now it looks like I just went deliquent this year in a bunch. How can I get them to remove for obsolete if they sold it and the cA tried to restart the clock by adding for this year? It is freaking me out to think I might not able to prove they last activity into collections was 6-8 years ago I all of these. I am very over whelmed reading and trying to soak this all in. I find myself jumping all over in searching and wonder how the heck you guys know so much and became pros. Man I feel dumb when I read all the knowledge you guys have on this stuff. Thank you for advice. I am determined to get all of my life back including my credit. Ps....right now I have NOTHiNg reporting except the collections. Sigh...... Even secured credit cards turned me down when I applied to two. Wow I must really suck😢

I just paid my last rehab payment (2 weeks early). I can't even explain how freeing this is...even though I still have $52K to pay back...ouch! I'm excited to see quick changes on my credit reports and find out who my new lender is (please not Navient!). Thanks for all the help I have received on this board that helped me accomplish this difficult task! That is all...

Does anyone know whether it is customary to have your student loan report an available balance and credit limit? With it being reported this way, it causes my credit utilization to be 97% and that is asinine. Especially since I have 2 secured USAA CCs with a combined utilization of 0%. I called my student loan company and spoke with a supervisor who thinks this is odd also and she initiated an investigation. I've also noticed that my husband's student loans are being reported differently, his has a balance that exceeds his credit limit, even though these are installment loans. WTFudge is going on here? Anyone?

Hello!!! I am a newbie here and looking for some advice. As a college student, I racked up a load of credit card debt which began to take it's toll during my last few years of grad school. In desperation, I enrolled in a debt settlement program unaware of the effect it would have on my credit. Once I realized what happened to my credit score, I ignorantly enrolled in Lexington Law thinking they could help fix my credit. I quickly learned they could not and now I would like to make an attempt to repair my credit. My credit report currently shows, innumerable late payments, charge-offs (all paid), and a judgment. I don't know where to begin. Anyhelp woul be appreciated

My wife has a couple of collections and some negative info from a student loan that she defaulted on a couple of times. I have attached a screenshot of her payment history on student loan account being serviced by nelnet. After doing some preliminary research, it looks like GW letters are rarely successful especially for multiple late pays. I was reading up on the loan rehab program, but this does not look like it is an option because my wife is currently paying as agreed. I am having trouble finding a clear strategy for her situation. If my wife defaults again on payments is there a way to rehab loan and get all negative info removed? Is this a wise strategy? Any other options? We can afford to make payments now that we are both working so that's not the problem just want to minimize its impact on her credit score. I appreciate any help or guidance offered. Thanks and will keep posting updates.

A few weeks ago I started disputing items from my credit report. One item in particular was a mortgage account held by Specialized Mortgage Servicing and Saxon mortgage. My dispute was "never late" please correct. Within two weeks Equifax deleted Saxon (which was expected since they are now defunct); however, they validated SLS. Here is the verbaiged used: We have researched the credit account. The results are: Historical account information was deleted from this account. This creditor verified to OUR company that the current status is being report correctly. The creditor has verified to OUR company that your prior paying history is being reported correctly. Okay, my account History status codes show late payments dating back to April/2012 (one late payment in 5/2015). However, on the updated credit report that was sent the Date of 1st Delinquency is of 5/2015. Is this a contradiction? Wouldn't the Date of 1st Delinquency be 4/2012 instead? Also, they are showing my last payment was made April 2015, my last payment was actually made May 31, 2015 before my account was sold off to a new creditor. How would anyone recommend I tackle this?

Around October 2nd, 2015 I'm going to call Synchrony's back door phone number and ask for my FIRST credit line increase in 39 months of having both the Wal-Mart and Amazon store cards. But I want to apply for a much needed Lowe's store card which is also backed as most of us know by Synchrony Bank. I will use it a ton next year and every year on building my mini-dream home (end of 2016) and a flipping business. Not to mention their huge credit limits that I need to help with my credit utilization rates. My question is should I apply online or call for the Lowe's card then immediately call the UW after getting approved first, then hang up and call Amazon and Wal-Mart second to ask for CLI's? Or do I ask for the two CLI's first and then apply for the Lowe's card second? On one hand let's say I get a CLI on my Amazon and Lowe's to $5,000 each, wouldn't that look better to Lowe's and lean them into matching my existing limits over the small pathetic lines I got right now with Wal-Mart/Amazon? Or do the two soft pulls before the hard pull of a new Lowe's card hurt me or vice versa if a hard pull is on my TU before the two soft pulls happen? Is it best to call all three on the same day within an hour or to spread it out so I don't look desperate? I'm going to ask for $25,000 limit on Wal-Mart, Amazon and Lowe's after I apply. Both my Amazon and Wal-Mart get used on average 1-4x per month on average, both are completely paid off, I have a 6-figure stated income and my real FICO 08 TU score when I apply will be around 680. Thanks for any and all input. CL

So I registered with the board a few years ago and I helped me get somethings off my credit but not all. I was absent from the board while waiting for some items to age and pass SOL. I am now back and need help getting back into the game. I recently was approved for a CLI on my current card and a new card with my bank, BOA. I was recently declined for a Citi DC so I want to clear some things off and try again in a few months. I am in the process of ordering the reports by phone. I want to start off with this item: This JDB is reporting to EQ and EX. The OC is reporting to TU. This one is only reporting to EX. I am not sure if the is JDB or a CA. I disputed this a few years ago and obviously nothing came of it. Can anyone help me with a plan of attack? TIA.
