  2. I was able to finance my 2. car for 2.99 % with DCU after I sold my car that I had financed with Capital One for 5,5 % and was able to pay of my credit cards which helped me alot with boosting my score. Since my credit score went up to 750 It was real easy to finance with DCU .. instant approval ... all online ... after I chose a car and send them the Purchase agreement, they overnighted the check to me. .. and the best, all with a super low 2.99 % APR ( not an all time low, because I remember them advertising a 1.99 % APR before but I'm still very happy especially since the car is used, and they gave me an option to add a 0 deductible powertrain warranty for just 30 bucks a month. I'm debating if I should refinance my 10,5 % Auto loan ( which I have with Alley) also with DCU, but then I don't know if this would be negative on my credit score since this loan is an ongoing loan with around 2 years of payment history !?
  3. Need a little help here on making a decision on app I will do in the next couple of days with Capital One. I already have a secured plat card with 1050 limit with Cap 1. I pumped the limit to 750 and they gave me a 300 credit bump. I'm ready to try for an unsecured product with them and I'm wondering if I have any better options other than secured cards as I have plenty of them now Discover, SDFCU, Academy Bank, Cap1, Wells Fargo. I have been paying down my debt and my cap 1 payment just hit my credit report and from 38% uti down to 17% I only say a 2 point increase very disappointing. I would of rather held onto the 1050 if I had known I was only going to get 2 points. My current scores are Ex 665, TU 625 and EQ unknown for a couple of days until CCT give me the 3 pulls but its between EX and TU. Don't think I have a chance with anybody else on an unsecured card so that is why I am trying with Cap 1 or SDFCU or NASA as both only pull ex. My question is should I pay down the next card that will update on the 10th and give me about 8% uti or am I just wasting my time waiting and just apply to whomever. Kind of depressing that I can get a car loan but not a credit card that is unsecure besides Credit one with a limit that would be under 1k most likely having crappy credit sucks for real

  5. In late May, I received a $500 secured loan from my credit union - which showed on reports and raised scores by mid June. I have already made first payment, and second payment coming up. My best score was EQ, 658. Over this past weekend, I opened Cap One Secured MC, $49 deposit, $200 line. I am awaiting card. So Far, so good. This afternoon, I decided to review my EQ score and report...low and behold, my score went down a whopping 70 points...and.....my bank loan entry was gone!!!! Report shows only one open, in good standing, account! Should have shown two (and soon three, once MC is activated.) I called EQ,.and the only thing they could come up with was that my bank failed to report. But I know it was on the report - last month - so any ideas as to what happened? It was too late to call my bank -- but will do so first thing in the morning, So weird -- and rather unsettling. Also....I have a GM charge off from 2016 which shows as open , reporting as recently as July 2018, yet indicates it ws closed - and doesn't show date closed. Also shows that its in dispute. Glad about that. Still, I really don't get it. Car was supposedly auctioned off in 2016, yet, I never received any notice of sale - or communication regarding the amount it was sold for. The charge off amount (approx. $3500) has been the same as original outstanding balance -; however, shouldn't it reflect final balance remaining post sale of car In 2016 ?- When all of this happened, I TRIED to discuss pay for delete with collection mgr -- and he adamantly refused. Would love to get this removed since it won't fall off for another 5 years. Otherwise, no derrogatories, only one baddie - but really need to build credit - which is why I 'm so ticked about bank loan not showing. Questions; Any thoughts on bank loan dis?appearing from EQ and a 70 pt drop? Any suggestions re charge off ? Should I try PFD letter? Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  6. crazy question but just curious. in 2014 IIB my 2014 car. from all accounts on this forum car loans are one of the easiest to get after BK. so here we are 4 years later. i'd love to lower the 5.5 rate i got at 530 a month and i think the balance is around 16K now and it was 7 year loan. i know its a sin to do this with discharged debt but as i just put 3800 into the transmission. i wont be getting rid of the car anytime soon even though it has 147K on it. i usually take my cars up to 300K at least. so just wondering if citizens would possibly refi me or if a CUs may look at me or thats just too high mileage. psecu fico was 649 last month but they dont loan until after 5 years out of BK. it's a very high mileage car and thats why i was hoping the initial bank may want to work with me to help me stay in the car so to speak. or just a crazy idea?
  7. Hi all. I applied for the unsecured Discover IT - as I read that they pulled Equifax (my highest at 658). Foolish mistake on my part -- because I would have been okay with secured, although I would not choose Discover for secured. Of course, they pulled Experian (my worst at 545) . I am down to two, albeit, one big baddie - a 2016 charge off ($3600) by GM, but have opened only one new credit line - in years -- so really need to get that going as well. Up until around three months ago, I had no inquiries on my reports. I made the mistake of going to an auto lease broker - didn't realize that in addition to the scores he pulls, car manufacturers separately pull scores as well. I wound up with four total inquiries. A few weeks later, I opened a line (secured loan) with my credit union, and my scores went up - Equifax in particular. I realized that I really needed to open more lines ...so I figured I would try Discover. Rejected. So...I now have five inquires on my reports - and no card - secured or otherwise. My question : I would like to apply for the Cap One Secured (not taking any chances), but that will mean yet another inquiry. Should I wait before I apply for the card? If so, how long? I realize that the benefits of adding the credit line may outweigh the risk of another inquiry, but not sure about this. Any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. PS - Preapprovals from Cap One online and via mail - for Quicksilver....but even so, I'm reluctant to apply - don't want to take another chance.
  8. I mean I been paying my car over the limit and I want to lower my interest rate+finish of my loan sooner but I want to do a 2-3 yr refinance loan because all I have left is 12.9k on my loan and I would be almost done. Is there any company that looks at my payment history of the same loan type?

  10. Hello all, I just received notification collection was added to my credit report. Saw this on Experian and Transunion reports via Credit Karma. This seems to be a bill from my previous apartment. Apparently they sent me couple of notices but I never received them. It is less than $300 and I would have paid it off if I knew. Anyways, now it went to the collection agency and is showing up as a Derogatory Remark. Should I call the debt collector and pay it off so they can remove it from my credit report? Is it even possible for them to remove it from my credit report? My credit score dinged by approx 60 points for this (via Credit Karma). That seems a lot of reduction for 1 bill that is less than $300. What is the best course of action? I never had to deal with such issues before. Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance
  11. Greetings, Any recommendations on the best three credit reporting and FICO score monitoring companies to use? In the past I used totalcredit.com. My work needs became demanding, I was unable to monitor my credit as I liked so I canceled my subscription. When I tried to reactivate my account, I received a message to call customer service. After a month of trying to reach someone over the phone, I gave up. I’ve now subscribed to MYFICO which isn’t exactly what I’m looking for any recommendations?
  12. I would appreciate some help on improving my chances for CLI's with Capital One. I have read on some various boards that Cap One is usually very stingy when granting CLI's. Quick background, while rebuilding my credit, I was approved for a $300 Cap One Quicksilver One about a year a half ago. Six months later I was approved for a Cap One Platinum, also $300. Both were part of the credit steps program. I have my first card now up to a CLI of $850, the other card is at $750. Outside of the graduation CLI after 5 successfully payments on each, Cap One has not reviewed my cards for higher CLI's. The increases have come by requesting a CLI online. The increase that I've gotten is usually just $100 and then I am forced to wait another 6 months before requested another increase. I am wondering if the way I use the cards/payments made is affecting my ability to get higher CLI's? I use both cards all the time since they are cashback cards. I would say each month I am getting my utilization on each card over 75%, however I am usually paying the balance down immediately throughout the month. Before my CC statement cuts on a particular card, I will either have a balance of 0, or is some cases I might have say a $20-30 dollar balance and then just make that payment and then resume using the card. I am curious if perhaps I am raising a red flag by using too much of my credit line before paying it down? Or if I should always be leaving a small balance on when my statement cuts, rather than getting my balance down to zero beforehand. Or maybe I am doing nothing wrong, it's just that Cap One is stingy with CLI's. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
  13. Hey all! I have a question about the 3 or more major credit card TL rule for maximizing scores. Do accounts that you are an AU on count? I have 2 of my own and I am an AU on one of my wife's.... I am looking for a couple of more of my own, but I am trying to boost my scores some more before I pull the trigger on a NFCU app. Thanks!
  14. I'm looking at apping for a revolver amex to use for my monthly household expenses. Currently I have a Business AMEX Plat charge that I pif $20k-60k/mo every month - I've had this since Dec 2016 and have a perfect history with them. Current Ficos are in low 700s (703-720) Only bad items I have are: one 30 day late from Feb 2016 on a paid off auto loan and a few 30/60 day lates on a Crapone card from 2011/12. The crapone account is in good standing (past 6yrs) and these 30/60 day lates should fall off in October this year, so they are pretty old. Overall current utilization is at ~42% Should I wait to get my utilization down and would the old late pays hurt me at this point? Thanks
  15. Hi Again! I posted last year, https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=603880&p=5689455, about a Sprint collection I had from Dec 2016 that was in collections with AFNI. I tried disputing it with the Credit Bureaus to no avail. About month ago I noticed the AFNI collections was off of my report. I was super excited! For seven years I sat with bad credit in order to allow everything to just fall off. I then applied for credit and was approved for Discover, Capital One, Jared, and AMEX. Fast forward to now and I received a new collection letter for the Sprint account from ERC. I immediately checked my reports and sure enough they are now on there with a $1,200 collection and a newer opened date. The letter I received states I can settle with them for a one time payment of $544. I am willing to make this payment because I don't believe I owe Sprint the whole $1,200 and want it off my credit, but I want to make sure this will also remove the collection from my credit report. Will it? Should I call their office to discuss making this payment and having the collection removed? What negatives are there to contacting them or making this payment? What would you do? Ultimately, I want to have the collection removed but I don't know how. I was thinking about disputing it again but, that didn't work the first time. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
  16. How is the small claims court case usually… do you have to go speak to the judge, in front of others. Trying to get a better picture. Someone told me that in most cases if it’s for smaller amounts the collection agencies (CA) won’t bother showing up especially if they are in another state and it’s not worth it to them to hire lawyers. The minimum in my county is $1,000. Thinking of suing that amount. I read that getting the money is trickier like there are more steps to it or perhaps it happens when the court decides who’s right. Anyways, my main goal is to get the accounts deleted from credit bureaus. I know what to sue for. I also could sue Equifax maybe because they didn’t respond to every-time I disputed but I think it would be better to just sue the CA as it’ll delete it from all 3 bureaus. I still have to check the fees I need to pay the court.
  17. How to get collection/charge off accounts deleted from Credit Report? What's worked for you or others? It's shown under the Original Creditor but Collection Agencies have the accounts.
  18. So I think I messed up. I moved into a new apartment about 6 months ago and called Charter to get internet service. While my girlfriend and I were living together, she was paying for internet under her name, and I hadn't had it under my name for a few years. Anyways, as I was setting up internet service, Charter informed me that I owed a past due amount of around $175 from previous service (which was legit, as I remember the last time I had service with them, I lost some equipment during the move). So I paid it. Fast forward 6 months, and I check my credit report. Sure enough, there is a PAID collection from Enhanced Recovery Company, which looks like it was collecting on behalf of Charter. It was added to my report the month that I started service (December of 2017). Not before, not after, but literally the month I started service. Presumably the same day I started service. They didn't tell me it was at a collection company. I don't think the debt was sold to ERC, but I dunno. Both Charter and ERC are pretty scummy, from everything i've read. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this collection removed?
  19. I did the Capital One pre qualify online app and it says Congrats and listed a APPROVED amount. It says no documents is requested at this time. I call the 800 number and she confirmed I only need to go to a participant dealer and bring proof of insurance and my drivers license. She did say the dealer will run a hard inquiry, but the terms and everything is already set. So when I go to the dealer I won't have to show check studs correct? And I'll be doing a trade in, how if any will this affect the loan? The car I'm looking at is more then the loan but I have the equality in my trade in. Any info I may need to know before I head there please give me the heads up. I nervous. Don't want a lot of inquiries.
  20. Welp, sorry that I am back here in need of help again. I posted here a number of years back when I was in a rut credit wise. I thought that I fixed things and updated as such on this site, but I screwed myself big time since then. I am trying to settle every account so either have them deleted (through dispute or PFD) or shown as paid or settled. I'm going to try to be as succinct as possible with my dual summary. Summary of my problems: 1. I have 6 negative open balance accounts out of 8. I have a 7th negative account not mentioned anywhere on the report. 2. 5 out of the 6 negative accounts are with CA. The 6th one shows as in collections, but it is a law firm that I believe was representing the OC. 3. Total owed from open balances (there are 2 closed, CO as well) is approximately $15,000. It's been 2 years since any payment on these accounts. 4. About $2000 is from Federal student loans, $7000 is from an eviction (I don't know if this is with the OC or the law offices that represented the OC), $6,000 from credit card, and a few miscellaneous about $100 each. 5. In addition, there are 2 closed, charged off accounts. One for $15,000, and the other for $5000. It has been approximately 2 years since these accounts have been closed and CO by the OC. Plan of Action Step 1: Purchase credit reports from the 3 bureaus Step 2: Dispute each negative account and hope that the negative accounts don't respond properly so that the account is removed from the credit reports? I didn't do this last time, so I'm guessing this is the reason for this step? Please inform me. Step 3: I want to settle every account preferably through dispute and then delete, or through PFD. Questions 1. Is 1-2 Punch still an effective strategy? Because I believe this is what I'm doing in my plan of action. 2. If an item is removed or deleted that is being reported by a CA, what happens to the previous monthly reports by the OC? 3. If an item is removed or deleted because of a dispute, is that account cleared from my CR going forward or can it pop up again? 4. Which accounts should I start paying first? Do PFD letters work when I can't pay the balance or agreed upon settlement in a lump sum? I'll need to be on a monthly plan for some of the larger debts. I'll be checking the forums and reading up. Thanks for reading.
  21. It's only in the last couple of years that I've been working on my credit score. Recently, I was able to delete a medical collection using whychat, which helped my score. I'm currently at 694, according to Experian. I have one credit card which I got in Feb 2017, which is a secured CapitalOne card with a limit of $650, it was increased by $300 around November 2017. So as you can see my limit is really low, which means I can't do much with utilization and furthermore boost my score. I've made on-time payments in full every single month, and have always paid down my balances. In December I applied for a Chase Freedom card but was denied, granted, this was before I deleted the medical collections. According to Experian I have 6 inquiries showing up on my report, including, auto from two years ago, the CapitalOne, and the Chase application. The auto inquiries are expected to fall off in Oct. I'm kind of stagnant in credit growth right now, and it would be nice to either a: open another really good credit account. b: graduate from CapitalOne's secured to unsecured, or c: increase the CapOne credit limit-- I don't know how likely b, and c are apt to happen, trust me, I call them so frequently and all they can tell me is that i'm obviously a good customer, but they can't give me a definite timeframe to when I can be graduated, they claim they just review randomly, then, decide randomly when to do that, same thing stands for credit line increases. So at this point it seems like my best option would be to get a new card. So my question for all you wonderful people is, what are your favorite cards for someone who is in a position like myself--average credit score, average 6 years of credit history, paid off 2 cars, in good standing with school loans, yearly income of about $27,000, revolving utilization at 6%, etc. What has worked really well for others who were new to credit cards? I want a credit card I have a good chance of actually being approved for, and I'd also like a card that could give me nice rewards. I just don't want to be sitting around and not having improvements in my credit because CapOne sort of has me locked. Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.
  22. Recently I've had a large positive impact on my credit score with it going up 24 points, making my score now between 660-670 according to CK. I attribute these improvements to two things, finally getting a medical collection removed, and lowering my credit utilization from 30% to 6%. My question is, I don't want to hit a plateau with not seeing an improvent on a monthly basis. My goal is to be in the 700's in the next couple of months. How can I achieve that? I don't have any other collections, or other deragatory marks, some inquiries are set to be taken off by October, but I don't want to wait that long. I'm concerned that since I don't have anything major that can give me a big bump, I'll be stuck in this range for a while. I plan on keeping my utilization between 6-12%. I can't go any lower than 6 I don't think--and I don't think it would even improved my score to go below that. Any tips or advice would be helpful! Thanks!
  23. Hi everyone--I'm back with another collection account I had surgery on 11/9 and was kind of disoriented when I answered the phone on 11/10. The caller stated they were from Midwest recovery collecting on an installment loan from 2013 from check n go. I did have a couple of payday loans but there was also fraud on my checking account during that time so my bank closed that account, refunded the money and deposited it into a new account. I haven't heard anything from these people until now and I don't remember doing an installment loan at all. I requested information from them in writing and she kept mentioning an IP address. Since they contacted me and entered a collection on my CR on 11/3, shouldn't I have received something in writing from them? Should I send a DV to the address on my CR (it's only on Equifax)? As always--thanks everyone fro your help! Rhonda
  24. I have been working on repairing my credit and am currently trying to deal with an entry from Amsher Collection Services. This entry is from a local bank from around 4 years ago. I remember the last balance owed to them for an overdraft was around $500, but the Amsher entry on my credit report is showing I owe them $1,000. My credit score is around 600 and I am needing to resolve this issue as soon as possible, as I am needing to buy a home in the next year. I would love to negotiate a PFD, but I am not sure which step to take next and I cannot let this debt sit any longer. Would sending a DV letter be of any use given its age? Any advice on how to tackle this is greatly appreciated!
  25. I am wondering if there are any premium credit cards we can get approved for with Authorized User only. Needing something with a higher limit. Credit score is a 735 with 1 hard inquiry, no bad accounts, 10% utilization, 3 years AAOA.
