I applied for an Amazon Store Card because I didn't know any better and got a hard pull on EX from GE. They rejected me because they could not verify my identity. This was about a month ago. I'm vaguely aware that you can get your credit score from someone who pulls it and rejects you. This would be a real FICO, so I thought I'd try and ask GE for my score. Am I on the right track?

I'm helping a friend of mine who has one $95 dollar baddie, a $1000 in student loan in good standing, and 12 hard pulls. He's sent a DV for the baddie. I've told him to get a credit card, but one that he will actually get. What is the next step? Should he go get real FICOs at myFICO so I can run them past the CB folks here? Should he just apply for a secured card? No problem to get myFICO FICOs if you'd like to know his FICO, but I don't know that he really has enough history to get a FICO. I know they are useless but his EQ FAKO is 622 (Fair).

So here is the deal. Thought my TU was 756, which was their Vantage score. I was way off. MyFico said TU is 675 when I ran it today. That puts all my scores in the 650-675 range. 3 years ago, I had a bad stretch, and used a credit service to help me. All accounts were paid in full and closed. Currently, I have a mortgage (originally $61K, now $55K), 5 student loans totaling $20K, a car loan (also $20K) and a CapOne card with $300 limit. Requested an increase in CL three months ago, and CapOne said no. Other than just letting my score climb a few points per month as I pay on these 8 accounts, what do I do? I do not want to run up a bunch of pulls if I am not going to be approved. Today, when checking out online with Victoria's Secret, I was offered a $500 pre-approved account. Should I accept these sort of offers, even though they are store cards and have such low limits? Am I better off making an effort for another major credit card (maybe Barclay's as my TU is the highest) or better off just looking at other cards issued by WFFNB/Cominity like Victoria's Secret and add three or four of those at $300-$500 limits each? Would opening these new accounts, and having pulls, help or hurt my credit overall? Clearly it is an issue that I only have one card with a $300 limit (I use it but ALWAYS paid in full before the day it reports), but I am confused whether having more available credit would help more than opening new accounts would hurt. I would appreciate ANY advice on how to get my score higher and at get a card with a limit high enough that I can at least use it for emergencies. Thanks all!

I have an odd (although I am sure not uncommon) issue. I have had much better success getting negative items removed from Trans Union than Equifax or Experian. Making it worse, some zombie debt collectors keep putting an old account that was not mine in collections. It is like a weed. As soon as I think I killed it, it comes back with a different agency. But it only ever hits Equifax and Experian. That said, my FICO from Trans Union is 765. The other two are in the 640's. I have looked in the 'pulls database' seeking good card opportunities that pull Trans Union, but there seem to be some that often pull others instead, or in addition. If they pull Trans Union, I am golden. Either of the other, and it will be an immediate denial, especially with active collections listed. So two questions: Does anyone know of a credit card which will absolutely ONLY pull Trans Union? And is there any way to block pulls from the other bureaus? I would rather be declined because they could not do a pull than add an inquiry when I know I will be declined? Dave
