Hello, I am new to CreditBoards, but have been pouring over the material and am very excited to begin my credit repair. I have triaged my reports and am looking now to tackle a number of old accounts that went to a collection agency for medical services. All of these accounts went to the same collection agency (for services at the same hospital) and range between 6 and 2 years old. I paid the CA in full, directly, for all of these accounts. I read PsychDoc's very helpful sessions, but have been unable to locate a clear path for what to do to have these removed from my credit reports. Do I begin by writing to the hospital directly? Or should I write to the CA, who I paid in full for all services after they went to collections? Does anyone have a sample letter, or can you point me to one, that deals with paid CA accounts (paid to the CA) for medical services? Should I begin with a Goodwill Letter? Or should I jump right to a Nutcase letter or something different even than that? Do I reference HIPAA in such letters? Any an all information is very welcome. Again, I am relatively new, so if I am completely missing something, or there is a post somewhere that answers all this that I have yet to find, please let me know. Thank you!

Hello all, newbie here: I thought I was out of luck about my situation until I found this site. Maybe someone can help me. I lived in an apartment complex for about 2 years and paid my rent on time every month. I got a new job offer making more in another city which I took and my company even paid for relocation. I told the apartments a few months in advance and was told that I would have to pay a cancellation fee, as well as any other fees that may arise. I agreed, and like I stated before my company gave me a lump sum to cover relocation costs. So I paid my fees using money orders in person, and had one more payment, which we agreed I would send through the mail. They were calling asking about the payment and I told them in 3 days I will send the payment, they said okay, and 3 days later I sent the money order to them. Immediately after sending the money order for the last amount I owed ~$500 I called them and told them I just sent the money order. That was the last time I spoke to them. About a year later, I checked my credit report and noticed a creditor amount of $2500. I called the apartments immediately and asked about it. They said I never paid them ANY money and they sent me to the collection agency. I told them I never received any contact at all from them for almost an entire year saying I didn't pay or they didn't get the money or anything. The 2500 was for "creditor fees" they tacked on. They asked if I had the money order receipts and I said it's been a year and I had no contact so I assumed everything was good, so I didn't pay much attention to the receipts and lost them. I filed a dispute through experian.com and within a month received a response saying the debt is validated and that's it. I am so furious, I've worked so hard to pay off all my bad credit and money owed from a while back when I was in financial trouble, and I was just paying off my very last creditor then this comes up! I know I paid most with money order IN PERSON and the last payment through mail with consistent contact. They are saying they never got any money. Can anyone help??

Okay...so I disputed with TU, and I got my results back today. Got 2 JDB's deleted, 2 JDB's with new info, and now showing Data factoring Account, but even more interesting was one CC that was charged off now shows "Paid in full, was a charge off" but I never paid anything to them. What would you do with this? LOL !

I am a new member and loving all the great advice I am seeing. Im getting stuck on finding some info I need. I have four negative accounts that are listed as "paid, closed". How can I get these TL's taken care off so that they are not shown as negative? Thanks in advance

I just noticed something on my EQ report, haven't looked deeply into TU and EX, that 3 closed accounts, maybe more, that i had in a DMP with Consolidated Credit Counseling are still reporting on time payments after being closed. there were a total of 7 but 4 of them stopped reporting in 2011 when they were paid off. These three, Sears, Chase, and all three GERCB cards keep reporting on time payments up until last month. I don't know exactly what this is or why but i don't know if i should dispute them or what. No bad data other than i keep paying them nothing. They all show paid in full and closed. its just weird. Any thoughts? All show dates reported in 2014.

Every year in January I order my 3 free reports. Equifax came back clean, Experian says I need to manually verify myself before they give me a report, and Trans Union has a collection account! This account was from an emergency room visit for my son back in Feb 2013, and I paid the amount shown and have a credit card statement that shows the amount being paid in May 2013. It was reported to collections in June 2013. It's for a low amount - just over $100. I'd very happily pay if I can get it off my report. Here's what I have done so far: 1. NOT contacted the CA at all 2. Contacted the bill provider for the hospital which is the OC. They are insisting they don't see the same evidence of payment as I do and asked for the credit card statement. I faxed it to the OC on Friday. There's not enough information on the statement to charge my credit card (missing the expiration date and CCR code) 3. Started a dispute process with TransUnion online claiming that the debt was paid, and also mailed them copies of my credit card statement showing the line item where it was indeed paid.. I did all this before finding out about this forum. My questions are: 1. Did I do anything fatal to getting the negative collections item removed? 2. What will likely happen next with the OC and the dispute with TransUnion? 3. I know this CA reports to Experian as well so I am assuming that is why they want me to manually verify myself, as there is an Unpaid Collections on my report. 4. Should I fax a PFD letter to the CA next week to try to go that route as well?

Perhaps they consider it acceptable, but my bank does not. The wording in the first half is so mealy-mouthed, it makes my account which was paid in full (Not settled) well over a year ago look as if there's still payment pending. After a long phone conversation that ended up with a legal rep on the phone with me, this is the ONLY letter they send, they refuse to provide a payment date or date satisfied, and won't budge on it. Just an FYI, if you're looking for a PIF from Verizon now, this is as close as you will get. Oh, and it will take 24-48 hours.

I started my credit repair journey at the beginning of 2013. I pulled my report from all 3 agencies and went through it and started paying off items that I could without putting myself in a bind with my current obligations. My score has went up on all 3 reports about 25-30 points almost at the 600 mark. However a lot of the items that are showing as 0.00 balance/ Paid are also still showing as potential negative on the report. Will those items remain in the potentially negative status for the 5-7 years or has anyone had any luck removing them?

Hi CB'ers, I have opted out and disputed my OLD ADDRESS that had a negative PAID account tied to it.TU and EQ deleted the address (EXP was not reporting the negative acct).So now am planning to DV the CA. I have a cc charge-off that was settled for less than the full balance but they are reporting the difference that I did not pay as the current balance. I want this account deleted, not merely marked as paid/settled. How should I proceed? Any advice is appreciated.

In 2009, I had a charge off with them in the amount of $44, which I disputed because I thought I had already paid it. But I paid it because it might have been an oversight on my part. After all, it was only $44, no big deal. Anyway, I started service with them and continued until late 2012. This time I made sure the closing bill was paid and even had them mail receipts. So that is all clear. However, that old charge off from 2009 is still on my credit report. They list it as paid but I would like it off. What should I do to try to get it off?

I have two paid charge-offs on my CR that I want to remove..after some research I have come across a few methods. I am deciding between the Jack Attack and Doc's Nutcase letters...which is most effective initially? The two paid COs are from Victoria's Secret (WFFNB) and Macy's (DSNB). Thanks!

I had an unpaid parking ticket that went to collections and showed up on my credit report. I thought I had paid the ticket, but it turns out there were TWO tickets and I only paid one. It was a stupid mistake, I got multiple notices in the mail but I thought the second one was just a duplicate of the first bill, I never realized there were two separate tickets. It was an honest mistake, but regardless, the damage is done. I've since paid BOTH tickets and made sure there are no more outstanding tickets. My question is, how long does the parking ticket that went collections stay on my report? They said they will update what they report to the credit bureaus on the first. Does that mean the ticket completely comes off of my report, or does it just show it going to collections and having a paid status? After it's off the report will it still have a lingering effect? Is there any sort of letter or something I can do to get it off of there faster? Thanks!
