  1. Hello All, This is my first time posting although I have been reading on and off for a little while now. I have been on the road to rebuilding and 2015 is going to be a big year. According to all 3 reports all of my current negative information is scheduled to delete by 8/2015. However, I have a collection that popped up that is not mine. It has a date of 2010 for DOFD. I disputed with Transunion and Equifax. Transunion investigated this for 2 weeks and then they deleted it. Equifax validated the debt the very next day which seems odd to me that it was done so quick. I called Statewide collection agency and they could not provide any information to me other than the creditor is FLS Holdings, Inc. which I have never heard of. This is my first post to this awesome board as it is the only thing that will be reporting as a negative once all of my negative items fall off next year. I called Equifax to ask what information was used to verify the debt and they said it was all done electronically and that they could not send me information and that I could only dispute it again. MyFico says all 3 scores are EQ 640 - EX 644 - TU 643 Thank you for your help in advance
  2. Hi, everyone, I am in New York and have been contacted by a collection agency (which writes on the letterhead of attorney Mark Nichter) regarding hospital service in 2011 and 2012. I had been very sick then so don’t remember all the billing particulars but the total amount due is $1,197.73, according to the collector’s letter. I had insurance which covered 90 percent of the bill and I assume this is the balance that I didn’t pay. Being out on disability I wasn’t able to afford to pay my portion then but I am in a better position now to pay over time. My question is: could I arrange to just pay the hospital directly? I could probably do it over three or four months rather than all at one time. I don’t want to deal with the collector directly as the rep who calls me is truly awful on the phone. I always tell them I won’t discuss it on the phone and please to write to me but before I hang up they always manage to yell about how I know I had cancer and had treatment at this particular hospital and why won’t I pay up. It’s too much. This hasn’t yet shown up on my credit report and since I’ve recently just gotten my reports clean, I’d like to take care of it in a way that won’t harm my credit. Thanks in advance for your advice.
  3. I have a medical collection account on my credit reports to the tune of $330. It is out of the statute of limitations. PFD letters go unanswered. So I began emailing the owner of the collection company back in February. Flash forward to three weeks ago. I get an invitation to connect with the owner of the collection company of LinkedIn. I have not accepted the invitation yet. Its not quite 5 years old. My ultimate goal is get a mortgage in a year. This is one of two collection accounts that I have not been able to get rid of. I'm wondering if I should start over with him on the PFD. Would it be much of a score boost to get this off my report now? Or should I just let it ride and pay it if it comes up during the underwriting process when I finally go for a mortgage? I have some high utilizations that will be paid all the way down next week, and I would still have money to PFD this in full. My current scores if it matters: EQ- My Fico- 633 TU- My Fico- 620 EX- FAKO- 610 Now I did follow the whychat HIPPA method up through getting validation (copy of medical bill) through the collection agency. Then I moved. And now I cant find that bill. Which obviously makes it tough to proceed with paying the bill and sending a copy of it as well as the insert for paying the OC.

  5. Whychat, I need some advice on how to proceed next. I have been following your method (opted out, medical dvs etc) and made a payment to the OC using your letter (cashier's check), shortly after I made the payment I was preapproved for a mortage loan and the collection popped up on my EQ as unpaid. A call to bank confirmed that the OC (which is a hospital) cashed the check prior to it popping up on my credit report. I wrote a follow up letter to the OC and to EQ and received a letter from the CA a couple of weeks later stating that the account had been paid in full and that they would notify EQ to remove the entry from my credit file. The investigation with EQ is still pending, they have about a few days left before the investigation hits the thirty day mark, but I received my monthly credit report from my usaa credit montoring and the account is updated with no balance and PAID. Should my next steps be to file a complaint with the FTC and CFPB? If these are my next steps should I include the copy of the letter I received from the CA clearly stating that they were going to notify EQ to remove this from my credit file? I haven't found a house yet, but I'm coming close and need this to be removed ASAP, so I would appreciate your input.
  6. Hi, I am so upset at myself for this, but I had several doctor fees that appeared on my report and in my attempt to begin cleaning up my credit I paid them all off, but in doing so, I requested from each collection agency to remove their posted derogatory info from my report, and they did except for one - Eastern Accounts Systems. When I called them to request this to be removed, they said it is simply is not there policy to remove this from my credit report. So, I ask how long they will consider before removing and they plainly said it takes 7 years for something like this to drop off - Really dude! for 60 bucks. Need advice on what other steps I can take to have this removed. I don't want to dispute this because I have found that sometimes disputing items on your report can cause items to permanently linger.
  7. Hi, I'm reviewing WhyChat's HIPAA process and didn't see anything about this. If I've missed it, please just direct me to the right info. (wouldn't be surprised if I had) What I'm wondering about is what if you confirm a current relationship between CA & OC, then follow up with the payment made to OC, but OC refuses to accept it? If it helps, a little background on why I'm asking: I'm currently dealing with a debt on my CR that might be (I'm not 100% sure yet - just getting started so no verification) one that I have previously tried to pay. The OC got the payment, but returned the check, telling me that it was already sent to a CA and that they couldn't accept it anymore. I never heard from the CA. This was 5-ish years ago. If it's the same debt, I anticipate a similar situation. But even if it's not - I'd still be interested in knowing what the options are in such a case. What are the next steps once payment is refused?
  8. Hi, guys, I had a medical collection for $1,500 go on my report in Feb. 2009. My report says it’s supposed to fall off in March 2015 but I’d prefer to handle it so I can get a credit card and improve my score. The credit report says the account was “updated” in October 2013, and the description of the loan type says “Collection Agency/Attorney.” I’m guessing that means the hospital has just sold the debt to them? Anyone know for sure what that means? Here’s the problem: I actually had five other smaller medical collections from the same hospital removed last month after I disputed them online (before learning of Why Chat’s process). They were placed there by the same CA as this $1,500 one. I also dispute this bill but the CRA said it was verified.I am wary of doing anything that could cause those other deleted collections to be re-added. How should I handle this? Can I still try to pay the hospital w/Why Chat’s method -- HIPAA and insert a? Or maybe it would be best to just wait the year and let it fall off? It’s my only collection. (I do have a paid federal tax lien that I’ve asked the IRS to remove, and there’s a default civil judgment that I paid in full and have GW’d the OC on, but I doubt they’ll agree to vacate the judgment. Those are both from 2010). I would appreciate any advice. I don’t want to make things worse here, but I would like to increase my chances of getting a credit card and showing revolving credit on my report (have just gotten approved for Cap 1 secured so hoping that will help). Thanks so much for everything.
  9. Hi everyone! I have my first apparent GW success under my belt (Capital One), raising EQ to 700 per myFico earlier today. I am stoked! I still have several items keeping me from having clean credit. One is a paid medical collection (Oh how I wish I had found this board two years ago...) <-- haven't done anything yet. One is a paid after charge-off / collection with Verizon. <-- sent a GW but no result yet My mortgage (oooof!) has 4 30-day lates <-- GW is in the mail An old car lease had 3 30-day lates. I have a new lease with the same company but haven't tried GW yet. So if you were in my shoes, what would you attack next? And using what method? Thank you, wise ones, for any advice you can impart upon a n00b like me!
  10. I just recently checked my credit report and found a collection from 2011. It is for $88 to a dentist. It was a dentist my children used and I thought the insurance took care of the balance. I remember calling and questioning and they said to wait and see if insurance would cover. The dentist has since retired so I cannot contact him about paying this. My question is what would be the best way to proceed to get this off my CR. It is the only negative thing I have and it is really dinging my score. Should I try to do a pay for delete? I tried to call the number listed for the CA on my CR and it takes me to a recording. Would it be better to try to dispute this even though I'm pretty sure the debt is mine? Can someone please advise me on the best way to proceed?
