I've been repairing my credit since this January and decided to tackle Cap 1 this month. Due to a divorce, life events, and a deployment, I was late 24 times on 2 accounts. I found the CEO's email address on this site and wrote him explaining that my good will letter was denied along with several phone calls asking for forgiveness. I kept it short and respectful. Within the last 12 hours, both cards have had their balances zeroed out, all late fees have been refunded to include interest, and the CEO's secretary just called to inform me that all of my lates have been reported to the 3 CRAs as current. And she's mailing me a letter to confirm. Somebody hand me the defibrillator!!!!!!!!

Hi CB. Just got a letter from First Tennessee. They owned a mortgage for an investment property of mine a few years ago. So far, here's what I've done: 1. Opted out 2. Deleted all old addresses 3. Sent a DV letter to them even though they were the OC at one time. They sold the loan before I foreclosed. Their response to me was that they were unable to determine my identity and requested to have me call and discuss the matter further. In my letter last month to them, I gave them my name and prior First Tennessee account number. Some more facts are these: 1. The loan was sold in September 2009 2. I have two 30 day lates, three 60 day lates, and a 90 day late covering 2007, 2008, and 2009. 3. First Tennessee is reporting to all 3 CRA. My question would be, what do I next?

Sorry there is a lot of information below. I had some great success here cleaning up my credit, but every case is different, and I was still sort of at a loss when a friend asked me for advice. These are the 7 baddies on her credit report from TU. She ran into some financial trouble in 2007, closed all her cards, and used one of those credit counseling agencies to negotiate paybacks. Other than one of the GECRBs, it looks like everything got paid in full. She has one GECRB store card now, so not blacklisted or anything. Her file is pretty thin, mostly less than two years old, and only a few credit cards and a car loan at that. So basically, looking for advice: How much do 5-7 year old late payments still hurt score, if at all? If they still matter, does it matter more that they show as 60 or 90 or 120 days, or when they are that old, they basically all matter the same? Do you attack all baddies no matter what, or as I have seen mentioned, does the law of unintended consequences weight heavily on that decision? Would losing an account like BOA that was opened 12 years ago, especially with a thin file, do more damage by dropping AAOA than any benefit from removing a few nearly 7-yr old lates? How would you advise these 7 oldies be addressed? Dispute, goodwill, leave them alone? Thanks! Hello guys, I am a new guy on this CB and I have a very serious issue. I have been reading success stories and wondering how I can solve my credit issues. I visited a family overseas and I thought I was going to spend 2 weeks but when I got there, more issues popped up and kept me there for 4 months. I missed all credit, student loans, medical bill payments for up to 4 months. Now I am in hot water, I need your advice. I just came and I haven't talked to any of my creditors. some have sent my accounts to collection agencies, others charged-off(whatever it means), others just posted lates: 30, 60,90,120 days... other accounts are on their way to collections... I am just pissed off and I need a clean Credit, sorry it sounds like I am not going to have this credit any more but hey, please send your advices and I appreciate your contributions towards better credit. -----------------------------

Good morning. I've never worked on a student loan item before, so please forgive my ignorance. I have a US Dep of Ed reporting as follows: TU: Closed; $0 balance; Educational; Pays Status Current; Past Due $0; High Bal $1389; Opened 1/6/2007; Reported 3/31/2011 EX: Closed; $0 balance; Educational; Pays Status Current; Past Due $0; High Bal $1389; Opened 1/1/2007; Reported 5/31/2011 EQ: Closed; $0 balance; Educational; Pays Status Current; Past Due $0; High Bal $1389; Opened 1/1/2007; Reported 5/01/2011 History of lates: 60 days x4; 90 days x 9 (earliest in Jan 2009); notation of 120 on 3/2008 DOFD not noted and no "will remain until" date shown. On paper reports from bureaus this shows as Direct Loan Svc System I am down to a few negatives on my reports, and looking for anything that will bump my score at all. Any thoughts on whether it is possible to get goodwill on the (many, many) lates, or get more favorable reporting? Any input would be appreciated.

So EX will not remove an old address associated with an account. I disputed this account and recieved a reply by mail explaining that they will not re-investigate this unless any pertinent information is recieved. What other avenues do I have? It does say on their report that it is schedule to continue on record until JUNE 2015. I guess, that's not too horrible.

Anyone have advice on the best way to dispute the following: Person #1 had a Chase Flex Spending card as part of their health insurance at work. Person #2 was a dependent, and was added as AU on this account. Due to the way funds are added throughout the year, it is possible to spend more in a given month than is on the card. Person #1 gets fired, and Chase charges off the small negative balance. Person #2 now has this charge-off on their credit report. How does Person # 2, the AU, get this account OFF their credit report? Is it best to dispute via snail mail, so it is easier to explain, or will a simple online dispute where you say it is 'not your account but belongs to a family member' get it done? Or, is the best solution to dispute over the phone (I hear heads exploding now...) to get the speed and ease of an online dispute without missing out on the chance to explain that Person #2 was only an AU and has no obligation to pay and wants this entire trade-line removed from file? In other words, is a detailed explanation necessary, and worth the longer wait, or will it likely just fall off if disputed?

I used the credit score simulator from three different credit monitoring sites and my score decrease for on time payment on mortgage. The reason I am not paying the mortgage late is due to a current law suit. Due to the damage on my credit report I tried the simulator to see if it will improve my credit score if I paid on time. All the simulators are showing a lost of about 30 points. Is that accurate? Why is this? I thought paying on time even after late increase your credit score. Can someone please help?

As previously noted, a friend was having issues with US Bank, specifically errors in the reporting of the monthly statuses from 2012. Prior to 2012, there were numerous lates and even the start of the foreclosure process, which were not in dispute. Along with the diligent efforts to get the 2012 errors corrected, a separate goodwill letter was sent asking if anything could be done about the earlier lates? OK, no progress on the 2012 issue, and friend has been assured by US Bank that will be resolved by COB on Tuesday the 11th. However, yesterday ALL lates prior to May 2011 were removed. So now from the opening of the mortgage in 2007 to today, the only thing that shows late are the errors from 2012. My question is: The removed everything (even going way beyond the scope of what was requested) but were quite careful to NOT remove any lates in the last 24 months. Is this normal? As basically what matters most is the last 24 months, was it that as long as THAT was reported accurately they did not care to remove everything outside that range? I will let you know how the errors are resolved (or IF) tomorrow, but just wanted to know if anyone else has this sort of experience?

Good morning my fellow CBers I would like your input regarding the next steps I should take and if I am heading on the right path. I currently live in NC and to my understanding a cell phone contract is a written contract with a 3 year SOL for suit? Correct me if I'm wrong. I have read that Midland likes to sue so I was thinking maybe my best course of action is to wait until later on this year to attack those two accounts. Collection accounts Midland DOFD: 05/2010 Date Opened: 07/2012 $495, DOFD: 07/2010 Date Opened: 08/2012 $470 (these are two T-Mobile accounts that were not paid) For the following accounts I want to do PFD. First course of action is to DV, then follow up with a PFD (if they validate). NCO-Nationwide Insurance $80 from 2008 Trident Asset Management-03/2010 $73.00 Interstate Credit Collection-06/2012 $95.00 Lates-GW letters don't really help these two right? What would you do next? Active account with lates: BOA 1 late from Dec 2010, CapOne 2 lates Jan & Feb 2011 Closed account with lates: NSECU Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec 2008 30/30/60/90 -I wonder if I can get this removed since it's old? Successes so far since 02/10/2013~Eq-removed all old addresses, employer and telephone numbers. Experian-I have been able to have Exp/Eq remove two old charged off accounts from First Premier and Dakota State Bank. Currently waiting for Transunion to finish investigation. Thanks for all of your input! It is greatly appreciated
