So I haven't been on for awhile, in fact I'm so embarrassed that I can't even come back under my old username. Awhile back my spouse lost a job and when he lost umemployment benefits everything went downhill. I had good credit and now after a series of late payments because I chose to feed the family instead of make payments I am back to poor credit. I have returned items...etc. Is it hopeless? (I know better) I don't know where to begin. In the past I was able to obtain good credit by removing old negative items, not new lates. Can some of the pros direct me to the right links on how to get lates removed? We now have two incomes again and I'm going in circles to figure what to do now.

Just trying to confirm if this information is accurate (I found it in this forum). As I have read here, under the Higher Education Act and FTC 623, any Lates being reported that took place in a time frame covered by a retroactive forbearance should be corrected by the lender who reported that information? Also, is it better to do an online dispute or fax dispute with the CRA's for this? Or should I contact the office of the Ombudsman? Thanks!

Hello out there! I have been reading this forum and I started to finally take the plunge in repairing my credit. I have some general question for you guys out there... I have a 90-60-30 day late from JUN-MAY-APR OF 2008 and a 150-120-90-60-30 from NOV-OCT-SEP-AUG-JUL of 2007. I understand that they will soon come off my credit report but I would like to get rid of them sooner than later as I am looking to get the best rates for a mortgage. 1. Should I attempt to remove the 150/120/90 day late first? And how will removing that impact my credit score since it happened so long ago? 2. When I dispute this with the CA, should I dispute one at a time? For instance, should I dispute the 150 day late first or would you recommend grouping the lates together? And if so, do one set of lates then dispute the other set? 3. Since this is my longest TL... I do not want the entire TL to do deleted. If I dispute these lates, will the CA (bank of america) delete this TL? Or if they cannot verify the information in 30 days, will the lates turn into 'OK'? 4. Would you attempt to dispute the 90-60-30 set to expire in 2015 or the 150-120-90-60-30 set to expire later this year? This entire process seems intimidating but I have read so many success stories and I am determined to raise my credit score! I was young and stupid when I applied for this credit card when I was in school. I did not realize the impact of those mistakes I made back in the day. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!!!

Last year I had a horrible year and I was unable to pay several credit cards that were business and personal and a SBA loan and I fell several months behind. I owe over $100,000 and will soon have the funds to pay all of my debt off. However, up until last year I had flawless credit, I had never been late on any payments, nor had anything ever sent to collections. In the hard times I fell on as a business owner I had no way to pay on my credit cards and almost 20 years of flawless payment history was lost as I had numerous credit cards I could not make minimum payments on, well over $100,000 in balances and over 10 accounts. I will soon have the funds to pay everything off in full, but I was told that will not delete the collection on my credit report and the damage from them will remain for 7 years unless I obtain a written letter from every bank that guarantees me they will delete the collection from my credit report upon payment in full. I have already had a bank send me a letter that they will settle for 50% of what I owe on the accounts, and I owe over $10,000 on each of the accounts, but I do not want to settle them and have a negative item on my credit report. A negative item on my credit report could cost me a lot in the next 7 years on future business needs as I own my own businesses and need to get my credit fixed. I also read that if I pay the accounts in full and get a delete letter that I can also get the banks to delete the late payments from my credit as a error or glitch. That would be ideal so that I can have my perfect credit again. I will have ample money to pay it all off, but I do not want negative items on my credit report still. I was going to write a letter and mail to each bank and tell them that in return for removing the late payments and collections from my credit report within 15 days of being sent payment for the full balance due, but many of these letters I have found are for settling for less than what is owed. I want to pay what I owe and after I pay them off in full, I want to get the accounts re-opened as many are over 10 years old and I do not want to lose them from my credit profile as strengths. How should I go about doing this? Considering many of the banks already are expecting to get no more than half of what I owe them, and I writing them to offer to pay it in full now, I am guessing that they will agree to my request, but I would like to get the accounts reopened if possible or to report as closed by consumer, not closed by lender, so they report more favorably.

I have a bill that was posted on my credit 7/13, I would love to get this removed. Do I a) pay the bill and afterwords dispute it to try to get it removed. try to do something like correct all of my address and say this bill isn't mine. c) try too settle it and only pay 650.00. I am about to move and will be trying to rent a new place to live in CA, I live in OK now. My scores are EXP: 630 EQ: 640 TRA:675. This just recently hit without this I would be pretty close to 700's. Any advice?

Hello, So ive been working a not so great job the past year and recently got a better one. After paying the minimal of my 4 cards for about 10 months, i fell behind on all 4 in Nov and Dec. I am now in the position to be caught up as of this month. What is the best to handle the lates? Ive never been late with any of the companies and have had the cards for at least 4 years each. Should just leave the lates alone and pay off the cards to rebuild my score? Is there anyway to have the removed with disputing? A certain letter to send? Anyone I can contact at the companies? The 4 cards: 2 Capital One, Amazon Store Card, Victoria Secret Store Card. Thank You.

So today I received the results of all of my online disputes and ALL of my late payments across 3 bureaus have been DELETED! My score has jumped about 20 points and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off. Now it is time to start looking at the 800 territory as a possibility.

So a couple weeks back I sent a pathetic but true sob story to the CEO of Carmax regarding some lates on an auto loan my ex and I had. There were 14 lates listed, and I asked them to remove the most recent one in July of 2011. There hadn't been any lates for 9 months up until that point and I was just hoping maybe it might boost the score if the more recent lates were removed. I get a call back on Tuesday from Tiffany who is the head of customer service. Says she is obligated to report this information ethically ( ha!), but she has taken the time to review my account for inaccuracies and noticed there were 2 lates that were not supposed to report, and she removed them. How nice. Today I was able to backdoor TU and noticed that they were reporting 6 more lates than EX and EQ (which were identical), so I called her back. She said that 20 was actually correct and she had sent a request to all 3 bureaus to update reporting to reflect that. ARE YOU F@&%$8G KIDDING ME??? So in my request to get some assistance, she managed to screw me over even worse! I'm so pissed right now I could scream!!! Now, does anyone know how badly 6 additional 30-day lates between 6/07 and 12/10 will drop my score? (I already have a 60 and 90-day in 2012, a 90 and 30 in 2011; and a 90,120,150 and 5-180s in 2010.) Couldn't get too much worse, right?

Hi everyone! I have my first apparent GW success under my belt (Capital One), raising EQ to 700 per myFico earlier today. I am stoked! I still have several items keeping me from having clean credit. One is a paid medical collection (Oh how I wish I had found this board two years ago...) <-- haven't done anything yet. One is a paid after charge-off / collection with Verizon. <-- sent a GW but no result yet My mortgage (oooof!) has 4 30-day lates <-- GW is in the mail An old car lease had 3 30-day lates. I have a new lease with the same company but haven't tried GW yet. So if you were in my shoes, what would you attack next? And using what method? Thank you, wise ones, for any advice you can impart upon a n00b like me!
