Equifax doesn't update/delete when told by creditor
prosper711 posted a topic in Credit Forum1. I had a Midland (ugh) account that I dispute with Midland, they agreed to tell the CRA's to delete it. TU and EX did so promptly, it has been 5 weeks and it is still on EQ. 2. Verizon Wireless, after 2 years just mysteriously disappeared from TU, then a day later from EX. 1 week later it is still on EQ. Does EQ just not delete if they are told to by the creditors? And a side note wondering why Verizon deleted after only 2 years anyway?
EQ pB* pullers and name used in EQ "soft inquiry"
mizliz1011 posted a topic in Credit ForumThanks if anyone can sort me out. I know that EDIT-MPM soft pulls show as TRUECREDIT/VERTRUE USAA-CCMP soft pulls show as CREDITEXPERT1-866-673-0140 Quizzle Pro shows as Quizzle, LLC WITH NO PERIOD However, AMEX Credit Smart could be any of the following... CIC/EXPERIAN ALRTS ??? dates are ok but incomplete on pull records CIC/EXPERIAN RPTS ??? same CONSUMERINFO>COM ??? this must be another service because the dates are from way before C$ but do they count? and is Equifax INFO SVCS =Equifax Complete which instigates C*- which does NOT B* I know there are so many Equifaxs on mine due to a split file and a fraud report... I know that the others are trash like Equifax Consumer Services, etc. Does a daily pull from FAIR ISSAC on their new service count?- apart from paid credit reports C$ question is most vital...
Almost B* Clean...got C*!
tywinky posted a topic in Credit ForumI started B* on July 15th. My EQ hards started falling off on Aug 1. I was able to B* 38 of my 40 inq in 18 days! I had just two more but was C* sometime today...oh well I did extraordinarily well. On a brighter note, I was able to B* TU clean at the end of last week. My objective was not to gain points (although I did gain 23 pts. on EQ; haven't checked Myfico TU) but to rid myself of pointless inq and get a fresh start. I learned my lesson and will app more judiciously moving forward. For those interested, this is what I used: EQ = MPM (EIDT), Quizzle, and USAA TU = Smartcredit, TUP (free trial), Lending Club, and Creditcard.com ...once the B* started, it took less than 3 weeks. Thanks to the people who were helpful and graciously answered my questions even though they probably had been answered a thousand times...I appreciated it. Take care future B*ers and good luck!
EQ Reporting a Balance on 7 year old IIB account
jdmc1973 posted a topic in Credit ForumI got an alert this morning that there was a change to an existing account. When I went to see what it was, apparently Target had taken it upon themselves to start reporting a $257 balance on an account that was IIB in 2007. It had previously been reporting as N/A or $0. How do I go about disputing it? I'm currently in the middle of B* on EQ and have 10 INQ left and I don't want to disturb the process.
mizliz1011 posted a topic in Credit ForumI got onto Equifax's gold credit watch... simply because I was supposed to get deletions on three items (already removed on TU) on June 1 and July 1. Well, fellow CBers, all three are off as of today, JUNE 1, as promised. Experian is another matter because 6 accounts that were settled or sold off (original creditors) are all still on for another two years because they have not yet gotten a spanking from the AG (Yes, bravegirl and reader65, we are working on it!). But to have what for me is an accurate report excepting an old mortgage that is supposed to be corrected per Bank of America, a deceptive practices Citi collection(in the hands of a lawyer) and a re-aging from Dell (waiting for the statements to prove it or I will 623 the situation) I am clean.. forgot the tax lien but it is paid and the CPA is going to have it removed because it was in error... forgot the collection on a exterminator bill but again, missing payments- not recorded- so it is in process of getting validated. The Mortgage collection is able to be paid but we can't find the person that the mortgage was sold to. But, these are all fixable. I have applied for a secured credit card and a credit builder. I am going to try to start again. And if Experian cleans up its act, I can apply for my old amex dated 1982- Joy. I would still have a list as long as my arm had I not logged onto here to look at how to do things. I have not lied or misrepresented anything. I am just getting the monkeys off my back and the wrong addresses and names off my record. I still have much to do but since it is only Experian that I can't fix until the AG does, I feel as though I have done all that I can and I see PROGRESS!! Looking at a list of 4 negative reports is a long way from 20 original creditors and their collection agencies. I would also like to give a big thank you to BANK OF AMERICA who supplied me, FREE, with all of the copies of check from my records that were lost in a move. Thank you Sheryl Parrott, for your incredible effort that you exerted to help me. However, I am waiting for a shout out for John VanVoris in the AG's office in NY for an effort to correct Experian's wayward interpretations of NYS law. Thank you NYState as well for trying to help out your citizens who are trying to clean up their lives with the 5 year purge law. Soon, if it doesn't happen with Experian, I will just freeze that report and move forward in my life. THANK YOU ALL!!
Dear EC…I’m over your crap. Love, Me
HoustonLynne posted a topic in Credit ForumI filed a complaint against EQ with the FTC for their defective “online service” and/or false advertising. I am planning a CFPB complaint against them for a whole different list of reasons, so I wanted to spread the luv and throw one at the FTC that fully falls under their authority. I’m one of those who has never made it to the C* List, and my softs accumulate until my file jams up and I can’t access my report. EQ Consumer Services tells me EQ Information Services has to fix it; EQ Info Svcs tells me EQ Consumer Svcs has to fix it…BOTH tell me it’s my own fault for pulling my report too often. And no one fixes it until I insist on cancelling. You cannot offer a product, and then blame a consumer for the failure of said product, when the consumer is using the product AS ADVERTISED. This is the second round of this issue with EC, and they picked the wrong week to mess with this consumer. Tune in to my next thread: Counterattack on a Payday Loan Scam Artist
Mayday, Mayday! EQ & B*/C*/EC & Lost Good TLs
HoustonLynne posted a topic in Credit ForumI need some serious guidance from the pros, so I listed Bob Wang in my tags, and this is a plea to all BIs out there! I'm facing some of those Unintended Consequences. I'm losing closed, positive TLs -- they're dropping like flies. I use EQ's monitoring service, and I've read a ton about B* and C*, and I've got a pretty good grasp on the how and why. I am one of those who has not (for some unknown reason) ended up on the C* block, but I really wish they'd PUT me on it! I actually used that service, alone, to B* 13 INQs off of EQ last year. That's wonderful...right? Except that later in 2013, I started having issues with my file being too large, and I could no longer pull from EQ Complete. I made numerous calls, and EQ & the outside monitoring vendor both kept pointing the finger at the other one. Finally, when I was trying to cancel the service, someone panicked and fixed it, so that I could use the service again for daily pulls. I didn't use it much for a couple of months, but I'm in the middle of Why Chat's HIPAA program for my last two baddies, and I THOUGHT this issue was fixed...so I use the dang service I'm paying for! (Silly me... ) Fast forward to this morning, and I realize my FAKO (yes, only useful to indicate change, and the 12 points caused me to look closely to find the issue) dropped because I lost 2 old Citi student loan TLs and an old paid auto loan TL (all perfect payment history.) Looking back at 2013-Q3, I've lost a total of 4 positive TLs from EQ -- all closed installment loans. The two SLs I lost today from Citi can probably be reinserted by Citi (closed in 2011 and still occasionally update) -- but I worked HARD to get several lates removed from those lines last year, and I want them back! I'm planning to call EQ today to check AGAIN if it's a split file issue, but I'm betting they're going to tell me the same story -- it isn't a split file and STOP pulling your file so often. I told them the last time that they shouldn't sell an "unlimited pulls" service if they're going to admonish me for using it as such. It may come down to a complaint to the CFPB, because there is a specific option under the "submitting a complaint" section (sub-option under credit reporting) that is directed at credit monitoring services. Your thoughts and suggestions...?
EQ Disputes - Webpage Won't Open
jdmc1973 posted a topic in Credit ForumI've tried a few times over the past couple of months to dispute some info on my EQ report. I've tried it by going into my EQ account where I pull my reports from and it opens a new window and then says it can't get to that page. I've tried it by NOT logging into my EQ account and the same thing happens. I've tried it on Chrome, IE and Safari and it always gives me the error that it can't connect to or find that page. Anyone else had issues with that?

Hats off to CFPB for getting things done
road2freedom posted a topic in Credit ForumI've been tackling an account on my wife's credit for years now. It was an old joint 2nd mortgage. Long story short: I filed BK, she didn't, it wasn't reaffirmed, we stayed and paid for a few years. Originally it was reported as IIB on her credit. I disputed with all three an it fell off TU and EX. EQ updated it to the current balance/payment and as open, which was correct at the time. Fast forward a year and I ended up settling the account with the mortgage company in exchange for releasing the lien and marking the account paid/closed. We sold the property 8 months later and moved on with our lives. So I noticed that the account was no longer being updated. It was still showing the balance/payment from the original dispute. I disputed with EQ and it came back as a charge-off. While this may be technically correct it was not in line with our agreement and would be a disaster for our new mortgage aspirations. I disputed again with EQ and it came back again verified as charge-off. I decided to take it to the next level and complain to the CFPB. I've not had much luck with their assistance on other issues in the past but it was worth a shot. I sent them a summary of the issue and disputes. I didn't clearly spell out the settlement part (didn't want to drag that company into this in case it made things worse for us) but did insist that per the OC the account was paid/closed and I sent them a copy of the supporting docs filed with the county. Finally last week we received a response from CFPB that EQ had completed their investigation. I checked the details and they said they researched it and would update it to IIB again. I immediately updated the dispute again. Meanwhile, I pulled MPM and noticed the tradeline was gone. I backdoored EQ and confirmed it was gone. It's been about a week now and still gone. We didn't get a letter yet from them and I know they usually come pretty fast. So I checked EQ's dispute status online and it was waiting for online viewing. I checked and the letter confirmed that this item has been deleted! I think I might frame it. Thanks CFPB. I guess I won't talk too bad about you anymore.
Found a New CU That Gives EQ FICO
Matti posted a topic in Credit ForumLooks like you can join if you live/work/worship in Washington or Oregon. You're also eligible to join if you have "an immediate family member that lives in Oregon." https://www.unitusccu.com/ Also looks like just having the checking account provides eligibility for the EQ FICO. I'm going to guess that since they give a free EQ FICO, they use EQ to join. I checked the pulls DB and didn't see any entries.
How to avoid multiple pulls when joining DCU
WestCoastKid posted a topic in Credit ForumI'm wondering if there is any way to avoid multiple pulls when applying for a credit card and membership with DCU?
For you International Credit Gurus
hrguy posted a topic in Credit ForumThis was asked in the BK forum by someone but it is kinda credit related..some of you international/seasoned folks may know: I know TU has international offices, but do they supply reports to overseas creditors? Does EQ and EX have international offices? The original question was if a BK'er moved overseas, would the BK come up on for an international creditor? I know they have their own bureaus in alot of countries, but do they reference back to our US reports if they know we are from the US? Does TU, EX or EQ supply reports for overseas citizens to overseas creditors in their respective countries?
