Hi, I am a reporter working on an article on settling debts. For my article, I need to talk with a consumer who settled their own debts. If this describes you and you'd be wiling to tell me how you did it, please feel free to send me a message. Thanks so much! Allie Johnson

Hello All. I am new to this specific forum, but worked in Debt Settlement before. So, if anyone has questions regarding specific lenders or collection companies/3rd party's I might be able to help.

the counselors over at national debt relief and curadebt advised me that private student loan balances that were charged off and in collections could be included in debt settlement plans. i was told this after careone indicated they could not include any student loans whatsoever in debt settlement plans. i understand that federally backed student loans (e.g., sallie mae loans) cannot be included in such programs, however, can anyone clarify whether or not private student loans from banks like key bank, can be included in debt settlement programs with companies such as national debt relief and curadebt?

Hi, I had a repossession in 2007 that is going to drop from my CR on January 2015. I did nothing when the CU sued me and there was a judgment against me in May, 2008. The judgment is no longer in my CR but the interest is still accumulating. I am saving and plan to negotiate a settlement sometime during 2014 or after the CO is deleted. I live in Texas and the attorneys could renew the judgment after 10 years, so paying is not an option. I have some questions: 1) If I pay a settlement before the item is deleted, could the account be reaged? If so, will the negative information damage my credit for 7 more years? 2) If I pay the settlement after the item is deleted, could the CO reappear? 3) Who do I talk to, the attorneys or the CU? Thank you, any help will be appreciated!
