Hi everyone. I am trying to build my business credit, so I have been applying for net 30 accounts. I was approved by Uline, Office Max, Staples and Amazon. I received a decline letter from Home Depot. Should I call and fight it? Do I call the number on the decline letter? Let me know. I still have an application pending with Grainger and Jiffy Lube Fleet. Have a great day!!!!

I have been a member of this forum for some time now and have recently started to work on improving my credit score. My score is approx. 590 on my three CRA reports. I am a bit overwhelmed with the issues on my report but I think the best starting point for me is to begin to validate the debts first, and then see what happens from there. This week I decided to send DV letters to the collection agencies reporting and I hope to receive an answer within the 30 days. I'm so nervous as to what response I will get back from them but I'm looking forward to beginning this process of cleaning up my score a bit. Below is a form letter I put together (I am in NY), but I'm hoping others will find it useful. Also this particular collector is reporting to Experian & Equifax only, so I did not refer to TU. Please feel free to critique and comment on any changes that need to be made, etc. I thank you to all who are reading and I hope you all have a great day ! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Collection Agency 123 Any Street NYS, USA 12345 Re: Account #5XXXX Greetings: I recently reviewed my credit reports with Experian and Equifax. I found that your company is reporting potentially negative information on my reports. Please be advised that under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, I am formally requesting proper validation of the debt you report I owe you, and that there is indeed some contractual obligation which is binding on me to pay this debt. Please be advised that non-compliance to this request will put your company in legal problems with the Federal Trade Commission and other federal and state agencies. I hereby request copies of the following: 1. A copy of the agreement that bears the original signature of the alleged debtor wherein he/she agreed to pay the creditor; 2. Proof that your company owns the debt by way of a copy of the agreement with your client that grants you the authority to collect on this alleged debt, or proof of acquisition by purchase or assignment; 3. A full accounting statement from the original creditor; 4. A full and complete payment history, starting with the original creditor; 5. A full and complete accounting of fees and interest, and how these fees were determined; and 6. A full and complete calculation of this debt. Please also be advised that this letter is not a dispute, but a request that you provide legally binding validation of this alleged debt according to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and any and all New York State laws. Please be advised I am requesting that you, your companies and its subsidiaries cease and desist any and all telephone collection communication with me. I require compliance with the terms and conditions of this letter within 30 days of this tracked and confirmed letter, or a complete withdrawal of any claim in writing. In the event of noncompliance, I reserve the right to file a complaint, including but not limited to the appropriate county, state and federal authorities, and state bar associations for violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and federal and state statutes on fraudulent extortion. I also hereby reserve my right to take private civil action against you to recover damages. I have enclosed two documents which will verify my address: a photocopy of my New York State Driver’s License, and a copy of my *home utility bill. Please know that you have 30 days from the tracked and confirmed delivery of this legal notice to either answer these demands, or by law remove the associated negative trade line notations from any and all credit reporting agency reports. Any other action may constitute evidence of your intent to abridge one or more civil or other constitutional rights. Please be further advised that continued unsubstantiated reporting of possible inaccuracies to third parties including but not limited to any credit reporting agencies may provide a basis for criminal complaints being filed in accordance with Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other federal statutes. I look forward to a timely and amicable resolution to this matter. Sincerely yours, Peekamoose My Address NYS, USA 12345 Enc. *I'm not sure if it is necessary to send a copy of my utility bill. I am of course going to black out my account info and any other important information, but I think a copy of my NYS driver's license should suffice as to the proof of address. Any advice on this or is not sending two forms a big issue? Thanks again in advance.

How far in advance from a item dropping off of your credit report can you dispute as obsolete?
