Hey I called in to Continental Finance tonight to cancel my Verve MasterCard. I recorded the conversation (read to do that on here). I informed them I was doing it as well. When I told them I was recording it, they transferred me to another person. The person on the phone acknowledged that I had a zero balance and wouldn't owe anything and said she closed it. I also dropped a notarized letter in the mail informing them I closed the account on the phone for their written records. Is that about all you need to do? This is the first time I've closed a card.

So yesterday, having no inquiries on Equifax, I submitted a credit limit increase from these people. I got a ring back from a gentleman asking a few questions about employment then the credit report. He asked why I wanted an increase if I had credit cards form other banks that I could use. I said most were for certain reward programs only and he was fine with that. Fast forward to today he rings back and says they're closing all deposit accounts, the credit card, and the automobile loan I have through them. I opened the membership back in July 2013 I think and the card and loan in November with no trouble at all, not even income verification. He said my membership was "suspicious" and they were extremely uncomfortable with me being a member there. I don't know what he was on about, as I rarely used anything from them except when I pushed money in for the automatic automobile payment. He didn't say anything on my credit report, so I don't know what he could be talking about. The only thing was a few weeks ago I accidentally sent a payment to the card and asked if I could get it refunded, but they did that with no issue at all. I'll wait to see if a letter gets sent in more detail. In the mean time, they're holding all the money I had with them(only about 3500 or so dollars) until the credit card charges post and they will pay the card off with the funds. The automobile loan he said will only be able to accept certified funds in the form of a money order, which makes no sense to me as I always paid when I was supposed to. He even had the audacity to tell me they would be much more comfortable if I refinanced it with someone else, but they can't force me to so I can keep it if I want. I asked if I was banished completely and he said I would never be able to establish a membership or accounts ever again. I would refinance, but I got insurance through them and I doubt they would refund it if I did that, even though they're doing everything they can to make it unpleasant for me. He told they will send out a statement and that is it, but I won't even get a note or anything for this month. Luckily I remember how much it's for and when it's due. They weren't anything to write home about, but I had had no issues with them in the past. On the other hand, Pentagon Federal Credit Union immediately approved an increase yesterday from 10,000 to 43,000, so that evens out a bit. I don't see it online yet, even though the loan status says transferred. Anyway, just wanted to let people know that they may find you "suspicious" if you have other cards but for some strange reason would like to be using their card more. *The bold and underlined are like that because he specifically emphasised those himself.
