  1. I have been working on my credit for 2 years to re-establish after a BK which is 8 years old. I have been following your suggestions as of joining the board but I have made some mistakes before by getting toy limits. All 3 of the cc reports are clean with the exception of the BK. 2. Hello, We modified our 1st mortgage last year with Chase. Our credit report states our credit limit as the original loan amount ($157,000) and our credit balance is ($187,999). So our credit to debt ratio stinks. Is there anything I can do to change this? It could years before our credit balance equals our loan amount. How is this effecting our credit? Thanks!
  3. I applied last week for the CSP and was approved for $12,000!!! :yahoo: I am shocked at the limit! I was approved for $4500 on the Freedom in February and told that for a CLI they would need to pull EX. I figured if I was going to give up an EX pull, I might as well do it for the CSP. They ended up also pulling EQ, so I hope that any future CLI requests can be done with EQ instead of EX. I wasn't going to apply for any more cards this year, but I am changing my rewards strategy to mainly accumulating points on my Amex PRG and Chase Freedom, so I needed the CSP to be able to transfer points. Back into the garden for real now.
  4. I've read how some issuers (Chase being among them) will report mid cycle if there is a significant change i.e. large purchase. I bought a book on audible on my Amazon Visa just after the billing cycle ended, I specifically waited to buy it even. The cost was 12.99. According to everywhere I had looked Chase had reported $0 at the close but a few days later is showing $12. I was wondering if anyone else had seen Chase do this for such a small amount?
  5. Happy Holidays, Was curious as to who has the most Chase cards and your limits.... If you have more than 4 --- how long did you wait between your apps. ? I currently have 4 Chase cards that are open... All were obtained within the last 6 months fairly close to each other. Chase Sapphire Preferred Chase Southwest Plus (closed after approved for Premier) Chase Southwest Premier Chase Marriott Premier Chase Freedom
  6. I hadn't seen this one before: I filed an OCC complaint back in April against Chase for erroneous Chex reporting and verification. I sent a 623 letter to the address on my report, and it was undeliverable. I tried a MOV request to Chex, and it was just reinvestigated and verified again. So I filed w/OCC, who promptly passed it to the CFPB, since the issue involved a CRA along with the FI (financial institution). It stalled there, so I called the CFPB and withdrew it and re-submitted it directly to the CFPB, keeping my new audience in mind. The original one was written knowing the OCC is very pro-bank, and I would have added more about Chex into the explanation if I'd known it would be handled by the CFPB. Anyway, the 2nd submission was a dud, and I ended up disputing the FI's response after it was done. (Incidentally, I resolved it through the FI's EO since then.) Then late last week I received an email from the CFPB saying they need more info from me on that original complaint I filed...the one that came through the OCC and I subsequently withdrew. Weird. Even the CFPB rep was kinda puzzled, because he could see that I'd called in to cancel it, and he didn't know why it was still ongoing. He told me they'd also be sending me a letter "about this", and I could just disregard it when it arrives. But he didn't ever tell me that "this" was a request for permission to access my consumer report. And my complaint status changed to "Resolved" sometime since last Monday when I spoke to him. Today I received this letter dated the 12th -- 3 days after I spoke to him. I'm sure the Wheels of Bureaucracy don't turn on a dime, so I doubt the delayed timing is of any significance. Just thought it was odd altogether. Anyone ever had this kind of request from the CFPB...? I'm just used to them acting as a middleman in my complaints. Kinda cool, because I see them playing a more active role here.
  7. Happy Holidays! Could someone please "PM" me a Chase Palladium Application? Thank you so much! - Nicole

  9. I've don't recall having a Chase account. I think the account is an account Providian alleged I owned at some point (Providian--->WAMU--->Chase). The account was sold to Equable Finance. INC. And I was taking to court over the debt maybe two years ago. I won the case because they were not able to furnish any agreement with my signature to actually prove the account was owned by me. After several letters to Equable Finance. INC. I was able to have them remove their negative TL off all three CRA. The problem is Chase is still report the alleged debt the three CPA which is greatly impacting my credit score. Any advice on how I should go about having Chase delete the negative TL. I am unable to determinate the DOFD. Its a little confusing to me Hence why I listed it this way DOFD... CLS = closed so how could I have a closed account, then several months later it reported as 30 delinquent?? DOFD: 2010 2009 DEC NOV OCT SEP AUG JUL JUN MAY APR MAR FEB JAN DEC NOV OCT SEP AUG JUL CLS 180 150 120 90 60 30 CLS CLS CLS 30 CLS CLS CLS CLS CLS CLS CLS CHASE BANK USA, Address Identification number: BLANK Stauts: Closed. $1,289 past due as of Dec 2010 Date Opend: 10/2001 Last Reported: 12/2010 Original Amount: $4,422 Comment: Purchased by another lender. -RealMcKoy
  10. Hi My journey to repairing my credit. I have noticed that 4 negative TL that have blank 'Address identification number' on my TU. I'm wondering is there anyway I can dispute these negatives base on the fact that the TL isn't tied to any of the several addresses variation reporting on TU? e.g, CHASE BANK USA, Address Identification number: BLANK Stauts: Closed. $1,289 past due as of Dec 2010 Date Opend: 10/2001 Last Reported: 12/2010 Original Amount: $4,422 Comment: Purchased by another lender. I was bullied by Rubin & Rothman LLC associate that they will sue blah bah blah, that kept calling my phone, and eventually I agreed to pay $10,000 on a $20.000/50% debt over a 6 months term. I paid the debt off as agreed. but Citi Card still reporting negative on CRA accounta... To add insult to injury I was hit with a Forgive Fed. Debt by the IRS ($7,600) for both NYC Federal ($1,212.58 paid) & NYC State ($1,000.3 still pending just received it last week). Collectively I paid more than half. If I knew what I knew now I would have just negotiated a deal with Citi Bank and paid for deletion... Any input will be greatly appreciated.... Macys Address Identification Number: Blank Status: Account charged off. $445 written off. pass due as of Jan 2012 Status details: This account is scheduled to continue on record until Aug 2017. This item w as updated from our processing of your dispute in Jul 2006. I sent a letter request a paid for deletion and they never responding, and sent a DV and they never responded. I am frustrated because I don't know what my next option is in order to exonerate negative TL from all three CRA. I have yet to be contacted by a CA or JDB over this debt. I have reached out to Bloomingdales and they say they don't have any record on file for me... Which throw me into a loop, because they are reporting negative TL on all three CRA.... HELP! PS:My goal ultimately is to repair my credit so I can purchase a home in the near future... for the pass several years I have been a cash on carry type of gentleman.... but I want to change that aspect of my life. Thanks in advance, -RealMcKoy
  11. Thank you CB'rs for all of the great info! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and have already read PsychDoc's transcripts, ordered reports, triaged them, opted out, disputed old names and addresses, sent out a couple of Goodwill letters. I would have never known how to attack this without this great resource! Now I need to take my clean up efforts to the next level. I have two CO's that I would like to have deleted that were incurred when I lost my job in 2009 and had to relo to a new city and support homes in both locations. Need some advice on how to approach these. Chase - AU of DH's Account; DOFD 06/2010, paid in settlement after charge off. Paid 95% of full balance of $29,596. EQ - Showing as Charge Off, Account Paid for less than full balance. Says 120 days late during entire time we were paying under the settlement and the CO shows up when last payment was made; EX - Does not show up on report TU - Says Current; Paid or Paying as Agreed, Closed 2/2011, Paid 7/2012, Settled less than full BLNC; Closed; Monthly Payment History shows 120 days later during entire time we were paying under the settlement. No Charge Off. Citibank - My account; DOFD 5/2010; paid in settlement after CO; Paid 90% of full balance of $30K EQ - Showing as CO; Account paid for less than full balance, Paid CO, Last payment 03/2013. Payment history - Says CO entire time we were paying under the settlement, then shows current again after last payment made even though account has been closed since November 2010. EX - Paid in settlement, $30,659 written off (we paid-off $27K!!!); Says CO entire time we were paying under settlement, says account didn't close until last payment made in 5/13; Balance history shows no actual payments (even though they were being paid), but shows balance decreasing TU - Pay status says account paid in full; Was a CO; Shows no payments for a year, then shows full balance as scheduled payment and $0 as amount being paid even though we were paying and the balance was decreasing I live in PA and know that there is a 4 year SOL here. Would like to address these now, but I need some advice from some of you gurus on what you think the best approach would be? My head is spinning at the options I've read about - Nutcase? Whychat? PFD? Jack Attack? Any help or guidance is much appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!
  12. First, I know that Chase is INQ happy in regard to customer initiated requests so I expect a hard INQ. They pulled both EQ and EX when I got the card last July but only SP EX for AR (last one 05/01/14). I've received tons of ITA for Slate since January but have ignored them. At this time, all reports are frozen. So, I have the following questions: Would contacting EO improve my chances of CLI and is the process similar to CapOne? Email and wait for phone call? Does Chase determine the amount of CLI automatically? Want to ask for $7.5k but hope to get $5k...currently have TLs over 5k (8k, 6.3k, and 11k) that are over a year old. Does Chase ask for PIN to EX if frozen? Are they INQ sensitive? Currently EX has 9, EQ has 17, and TU has 10 (just started using CCMP for EQ *B ) Is it wise to ask now or wait until it reaches one year old in July? Stats: 27k salary, 53k avail credit, AAOA: 5 yrs., 7-8% util, FICO: EX - 735, TU - 765, EQ -??? TIA for the feedback. BI
  13. did not read this until I settled, hope I save someone else some money...! Update! In April 2010, New York’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, confirmed that the statute of limitations that applies to a credit card debt may beshorter than six years, depending on where the credit card issuer is based. (See here for the Court’s decision, from Portfolio Recovery Associates v. King.) Here’s how it works: New York has a law stating that the statute of limitations on a credit card debt is six years. But New York law alsostates that a creditor cannot take advantage of NY’s six-year statute of limitations if the creditor’s home state has a shorter statute of limitations. (This is what New York’s highest court recently confirmed.) Some of the biggest creditors – such as Chase, Bank of America, and Discover – have home states with three-year statutes of limitations. If you are sued on a Chase, Bank of America, or Discover credit card debt, a three-year statute of limitations will generally apply. Example #1: Let’s say you had a Big Bank credit card. The last time you made a payment was in January 2007. You therefore “defaulted” in February 2007 (you usually “default” on a credit card debt about 30 days after your last payment). The statute of limitations starts running from your default, in February 2007. Big Bank sues you in a New York court in August 2010. Big Bank is based in Delaware, which has a three-year statute of limitations for credit card debts. Question: Has Big Bank waited too long to sue you? Answer: YES. Since Big Bank is based in Delaware, which has a three-year statute of limitations for credit card debts, New York law says that Delaware’s three-year statute of limitations must apply. Big Bank cannot take advantage of New York’s longer six-year statute of limitations just because it sued you in New York. Because Big Bank waited more than three years to sue you on the credit card debt, the statute of limitations has expired, and the court must dismiss the case. This same rule applies even if you are sued by a debt buyer on a credit card debt and not by the original creditor. Example #2: The same facts as in Example #1, except now, instead of Big Bank suing you, a debt buyer called XYZ Funding has sued you on your Big Bank credit card. Question: Has XYZ Funding waited too long to sue you? Answer: YES. You still look at where the original creditor is based – the debt buyer does not get any more time to sue you than the original creditor would have had. In Example #2, the statute of limitations that applies is still Delaware’s three-year statute of limitations, since Big Bank is based in Delaware. (It doesn’t matter where XYZ Funding is based.) Since XYZ Funding waited more than three years to sue on the Big Bank credit card debt, the statute of limitations has expired, and the court must dismiss the case.
  14. Got an e-mail for my Chase Freedom card I've had since 2006 (was originally a Starbucks Duetto Card, it auto-converted about 5 years ago to the Freedom)... it had a $2,000 limit ever since I opened it, but in the e-mail they were inviting me to go for a CLI "with no credit report check". I clicked the link they provided, logged on, entered my annual income, and BAM! Approved for an increase to $3,000!!! I currently have fairly high utilization on this card (above 50%), but a perfect payment history over the 8 years I've had it. Anyone else have similar success with Chase recently?
  15. Got something very interesting in the mail recently (unfortunately by the time I got around to opening the letter, the offer had expired). Personal code: 8038128 I tried typing various random numbers in and some of them went through as well, 8058128 for example. But so far all of them are expired. If anyone figures out a non-expired code, please post it.
  16. I just noticed something on my EQ report, haven't looked deeply into TU and EX, that 3 closed accounts, maybe more, that i had in a DMP with Consolidated Credit Counseling are still reporting on time payments after being closed. there were a total of 7 but 4 of them stopped reporting in 2011 when they were paid off. These three, Sears, Chase, and all three GERCB cards keep reporting on time payments up until last month. I don't know exactly what this is or why but i don't know if i should dispute them or what. No bad data other than i keep paying them nothing. They all show paid in full and closed. its just weird. Any thoughts? All show dates reported in 2014.
  17. Hi all, I have applied for a United Airlines Chase credit card four times in the past two years and have been denied each time. The denial letter has always been vague. Yesterday, I spent over an hour at a Chase branch investigating the situation. I gave the manager my social security number and, as it turns out, Chase has a record of a credit card I shared with my father about 18 years ago (my father had given it to me in my teens to help pay for gas for my car. I stopped using it after a few years but he kept using his copy). Here's where it gets weird: The branch manager showed me on his computer screen that there were two cards issued: one had my social attached to it, the other had both mine and my dad's social. Both cards were the same account but re-issued as a different cc number at a later date. The branch manager said the screen showed both cards filed under "bankruptcy". I explained that I never filed for bankruptcy, but my father had. He called the bankruptcy dept at Chase to inquire. The bankruptcy dept told him that, yes, there was a $1,000 balance on the card and was in collections (for 18 years!!!) but there seems to be a "fraud" association and advised the manager to call the fraud dept. The branch manager called the fraud dept and was advised the following: the balance was not in collections. I do not owe anything. But there was still some sort of "fraud" associated with charges on that card. I left the bank, scratching my head and feeling helpless. So here's where I'm at: I really want to apply for a United Chase credit card but each time I do, my social security # activates this strange history on my record. How do I get this cleared up???? Please note that my credit report is impeccable. This activity from 19 years ago does not show on my report. It seems to only show on the Chase side somehow. I have never had any issues getting credit cards from other banks. Thanks in advance for your help!
  18. I applied for the freedom card online about 4 or 5 months ago and got declined because I had too many inquirys from car shopping 8 months prior. When I got the letter I didn't bother calling the number because I was new to credit cards at the time and had no idea I could talk to an underwriter. I know right now Chase has a limited time offer if you spend $500 in the first few months you'll recieve $200 cash back. Should I wait on reapplying for the freedom card or should I try again? Any suggestions?
  19. I was approved for a Chase Freedom last week. The card came Saturday and I waited until this morning to call to recon the credit limit because I figured I'd have more success reaching someone who could actually help me on a weekday. So I looked up the recon number this morning (888-245-0625) and reached a very pleasant rep, clearly stateside. However, when I told her I was calling because I'd just received my new card in the mail and wanted to see about increasing the credit limit (as I was going to make it my daily card and didn't want to risk high utilization), she asked why I had called her and not Customer Service. I told her I thought it was the number I was supposed to call and she said, "No, you should have called the number on the back of your card." She then transferred me to "Alicia" (heavily accented and clearly Indian) who could only plug my numbers into her computer and give me a canned "we cannot process a credit limit at this time" response. (Just to clarify, I have no problem with Indian/oversees reps per se, simply that in my experience they're used for first-contact calls only and usually don't have the authority to override the computer). Any advice on how to proceed? Did I just get a bad recon rep? Is there a different number I should have called? Should I try again?
  20. At the beginning of September I opened up a Chase Freedom ($1200) a Citi Preferred Diamond ($1500) and a Green Card AMEX (I've had a balance as high as $2200). I've used all the cards but PIF all of them, usually multiple times within the billing cycle. Now I'm coming up to 61 days and am wondering if I should start asking for some increases with Chase and Citi. Can anyone shine some light on this for me? I applied to TrueEarnings AMEX (I'm a Costco member) but was denied, one of the main factors was my limited time (I had applied for TE at the same time as the Green), would now be a good time to reapply (I hear 61 days as a magic number with other AMEX stuff, don't know if it applies here). I'm just trying to up my CL with my current cards and I want in either a TruEarnings or BCE with AMEX as my daily card. I will make payments to take all my current balances down to $0 prior to any requests.
  21. This past July my boat was towed without my prior approval, then locked by the tow company. To retrieve it I had to provide my ccard info. I subsequently disputed the charge ($675) with a letter sent Aug. 23'rd, certified ret'n receipt. Subsequently: 1. Received a call from Chase which turned into a conference call with the vendor, was told I'd hear back from Chase, never did. 2. Received another call from Chase, who had no record of my paperwork, gave her ret'n receipt number. She said she'd get back to me, never did. 3. Got letter recently from Chase saying "as you mentioned, you are disputing the charge because you were charged the wrong amount". WTF????? It's appearing nobody is reading anything, and these clowns just pull reponses out of their hats (or elsewhere). Is there a way to resolve this without going to court? Thanks in advance Tanksalot
  22. Had a question about balance transfers, for those in the know. I know you cannot BT from one card to another card issued by the same bank. But is there anything that prevents them from approving a BT if you go from one bank to another bank and later go back to the first bank (different card)? For example. Imagine I have $2,000 on a Chase credit card. I also have an opened AmEx BFP. I would like to BT the $2,000 from Chase to BFP. Then, down the line, I want to open Chase Slate (to take advantage of their 0% APR and $0 BT fee). Would I be able to BT from AmEx to Slate? Would it matter if it will be a different amount (i.e., if amount "from BFP to Slate" is greater than the initial "from Chase to BFP")?? Thanks in advance for any insights!!
  23. My financial situation has improved recently and I PIF my two Chase cards that were enrolled in their Balance Liquidation Program for the past 4.5 years at 2% interest. Has anyone been in the Chase BLP, paid off their accounts and applied for a new Chase card? If so, were you approved/denied? Should I wait a while before attempting to apply for a new card? My scores are in the low 700's and should be improving in the next 6 months as my 4 recent inquiries age. I'm not sure how Chase looks at the BLP in regards to future credit worthiness. I know my CR's show the two Chase accounts as Closed by consumer, but I'm not sure what their internal records show and if it is derrogatory for me to have been enrolled in the program.
  24. Asking here rather than in the 'laws' section since it pertains mostly to how Chase implements its credit card income analysis. Background: I'm a student in the final year of university. I recently applied for a Chase Sapphire Preferred card and was denied not on the basis of credit history, score, or even total income, but on the ratio of income to rent. At the time, I had reported my income as the amount of money that gets transferred to me to cover living expenses (including rent) as my current and past internships don't exactly pay very well (at all, actually), plus small income from dividends on inherited stock. This of course means that my rent obligation accounts for 70% of my total income, and unsurprisingly, Chase rejected me when I called for reconsideration. In fact, because of that, I was furthermore told that I wouldn't be able to apply even for a lower-level card like Freedom which often has a sub-$1,000 limit and is regularly used to build credit. The rep was polite and friendly though, and didn't seem like he was just trying to get me off the line (he actually went through and reopened the case, but that was the result). But looking up the specifics of the recently-amended Regulation Z, it mentions that non-applicant income may be considered by banks under certain circumstances. Originally to help stay-at-home spouses, but there is no marital requirement. I meet the requirements for both money transferred to my account and money used to directly cover my expenses (such as tuition, which does not go through my personal account, unlike my rent, which does). Adding the latter (since I already reported the former, but as my own income) would help significantly as it includes tuition, which is not a monthly debt obligation, and things like flights to and from school. The issue is that as mentioned, banks may choose to factor in these funds, but may also choose to ignore them, at their discretion based on their policy. I don't know what Chase's policy on this is, and whether they'd be willing to apply it to non-couples but instead to dependents. Chase no longer opens joint accounts, so short of finding a way to slash my rent (unlikely) or suddenly getting a high-paying job (unlikely), it's my only way to get reconsideration, assuming what the CSR said was correct. So the question is whether anyone has any information on whether Chase considers income with reasonable expectation of access, especially for non-spouses or domestic partners. Any help or feedback on the issue would be appreciated, thanks!
  25. So I have two mortgages with Chase that were foreclosed in 2007. First and second mortgages on a 80/20 loan. Chase is driving me nuts. They are reporting for myself and my husband incorrectly and none of the reports match, no info is the same. Example: Eq - has one of the loans as open and 120+ past due. The other loan with a balance of $70k. Ex - has one of the mortgages with a term of 2 years. Not one report matches another for the date of last pyament. Ugh, I've sent them letter after letter, disputed time and again. I just now reported them and provided all backup docs to the OCC. I hope they can get Chase to just delete since they obviously can't get their act together. Eq is the worst report for these and because of these lines my FICO for EQ is 517!!!
