I've got 4 charge offs with Cap 1. (1 is an hsbc that they took over). I know Cap 1 is hard to get rid of. I'm hoping to qualify for a mortgage soon so I'm trying to just get this debt resolved. I know paying off won't do much if anything for my score. It is well within SOL (about a year old). 3 of them are lower balances that I can pay in full. The 4th is about 1800. I have the funds to pay in full. They have offered to settle for $786. Obviously that number is a lot more attractive. The letter does state settled in full. Is there a benefit to paying it off in full? If there is I will.

From $750 to $2750 after a 7-10 day message. So odd since I had it maxed out for a long time and paid minimum. Just paid it off last month. Sent me a letter assuring me that we are partners in my financial success, and that this increase was to show their commitment. Could have knocked me over with a feather. Yay Cap 1!!! Hope they don't get mad when I don't use it.

I've been repairing my credit since this January and decided to tackle Cap 1 this month. Due to a divorce, life events, and a deployment, I was late 24 times on 2 accounts. I found the CEO's email address on this site and wrote him explaining that my good will letter was denied along with several phone calls asking for forgiveness. I kept it short and respectful. Within the last 12 hours, both cards have had their balances zeroed out, all late fees have been refunded to include interest, and the CEO's secretary just called to inform me that all of my lates have been reported to the 3 CRAs as current. And she's mailing me a letter to confirm. Somebody hand me the defibrillator!!!!!!!!

Hey All! I've had my Cap 1 secured MC since April 2012 and the CL is the initial $300 that I secured the card with. I've read where they will do CLIs for secured cards after 6 -12 mos. of good pay. I have never been late and usually pay in full every month since I've had my card. Saturday, I chatted with one of their CSRs and asked for a CLI. She walked me through the process of asking for one online and told me that I would receive documentation in the mail in 7-10 days asking for proof of income. I received an online document in my inbox this morning that said that Cap 1 does not do CLIs for this type of card -- which I know is BS! Should I call their backdoor number about this?

So, a few days ago I stumbled upon the wondrous information in the credit pulls section of this site and started researching various cards. Based on this research, and recent looks at FAKO scores, I applied for and was approved for an Amex Green account. Then yesterday an Amex DSM with a 2k limit, I don't know which CRA they pulled though. I currently have 4 accounts with Cap one with low limits and since I haven't requested a CLI recently on any of them I decided to check. I was denied so I started checking through the posts here and I've gone through the sea of posts about backdoor s and see mixed posts in regard to cap one. It seems they changed there policies some time ago and was wondering if anyone has recently gotten results with any of the following numbers: Cap1: 800-625-7866 (Account Specialist) Cap1: 800-951-6951 (cust. relations) Cap1: 800-548-4593 (application status - automated only) Cap1: 800-889-9939 or 800-625-7866.(Account Specialist) Cap1: 877-513-9959 (Account Retention?) Cap 1: 800-707-0489 (Senior Escalation Account Mgrs.)
