  1. I've been looking through this forum for about 3 weeks. I have started my credit repair process by opting out and deleting my addresses with TU and EQ (extremely easy!). EX is another story! They would not budge! I read success stories but they are pretty outdated. I was wondering if anyone has any recent techniques/ methods that can help me get addresses deleted? Thanks.
  2. I have been checking out creditboards.com for a while now, but just today decided to create an account because I've been unable to find the answer to a question I have. I have pulled all of my credit reports and have hard copies of them, and when looking at them (Experian, specifically), I noticed that I have 10 names and 7 addresses listed on the report. I saw another topic that said to send letters with proof of current address (DL and utility bill) and request that the inaccurate information be removed from the report, so I have put a letter together to send for the addresses. Here is the letter: Name Address Date Dear Experian: The following addresses on my credit report are incorrect. Please remove them from my file. I am enclosing copies of my Drivers License and a recent utility bill as proof of my identity and my address. 1. XXXX 2. XXXX 3. XXXX 4. XXXX 5. XXXX 6. XXXX 7. XXXX Sincerely, name SS# DOB My question is this: Do I need to send a letter to the CRAs requesting that incorrect names be removed in addition to the letter re: incorrect addresses or can these letters be combined into one? Thanks!
  3. EX deleted all of my addresses that were tied to negative TL's ! Yeeeee Hawwwww !!! Just a little FYI....I told them I was worried about identity theft since I havent lived there for over 20 years. (Which is true)
  4. Hello I am trying to get information on updating my DNB profile will it hurt me to do so? I have a corporation that has been registered in GA since 2011 it's in good standing with the state of Georgig and have a DNB number. I am wanting to establish business credit. However the phone number in DNB file has changed and the address has changed how would I get around that? without any flags?
  5. It has been YEARS since I last sent anything to Experian. Looking at my records, my PO Box is different than the one they currently show for disputes online. But I don't want to dispute, I want to obtain a free report from an application denial. Should I send it to that dispute address? Or is there another PO Box for these types of requests? I've performed google searches on this matter and they are all from about '09 - '11. They change their address like underwear and I can't trust old posts. I appreciate everybody's help!
  6. Hello All, I am a “Newbie” in every sense of the word. I have done all the necessary steps in regards to opting out, triage, etc… I am looking for guidance on one specific account. Here is a quick back story: The account in question is a credit card that ended up in collections (lost my job, had to pay bills, fell behind, etc…). I knew the original creditor charged it off to collections but never received anything from a collection company about the debt. After checking my credit, I see the name of the collection company and they are hitting my account with negative information every month and it is killing my credit score. Again – I never received anything in the mail from them. I decided to call them to see what the deal was (this was before I learned about CreditBoards or I definitely would’ve handled it differently). We haggled back and forth and I told them they were reporting negatively against my credit but had not sent me anything in regards to the debt or the fact that they owned it. Long story short: they had the wrong address. My address has the word “North” in it and for some reason they had it as “Morris”. I asked them to please send me something in the mail now that they had the right address. This was over 2 months ago and I still haven’t received anything in the mail. So my question is: do I even bother with a validation letter or do I go straight for a nutcase letter? I feel like I am validated in having the debt removed because they had the wrong address, I corrected the address for them and they still never sent me anything. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!
  7. In my attempts to obtain a D-U-N-S number online, I cannot seem to get past the first registration step. The online application says it is using my home address to validate my personal identity. When the authorization during the first step fails, it says that they were unable to verify my personal identity. So basically, from just my name and address, the D&B system is unable to match me with their records and will not let me continue the application online. As far as I know, D&B is a private company, so they would not have instant online access to databases such as IRS records or DMV records. This leads me to believe that they are attempting to match my information with data from another private source. My money is on Experian. From the week I have spent reading the CreditBoards forum, I've gathered that calling D&B will only lead to sales harassment. What is D&B trying to match my information with? I do not wish for them to match the data I type into this online registration to my personal credit reports. How do I provide working name/address information to D&B so that I can continue with the application?
  8. I turned a friend onto CB to start the rebuild process, scores around 500, and as is advised, he wants to opt out and remove old addresses. The issue is: His credit went bad in 2008/2009. Since then, he has moved several times, but sort of stayed off the grid living with family, friends, girlfriend. Drivers license which expires later this year still has 2009 address, but otherwise he has not had so much as a utility bill in his name in 4-5 years. The address listed as current with the CRAs was his home 4-5 years ago, which has long-since been foreclosed. The other addresses are far more than a decade old. He likely cannot remove all the old addresses without providing a new current address, right? Will the CRAs just take his word for it, as he has nothing with his current address on it? Or, does he need some sort of ID, utility bill, tradeline, etc. which he can provide to the CRAs as current in order to get old ones removed? Also, as the SOL in PA is 4 years, any of these old credit cards would be outside SOL for suit. But will putting a new address on file, and working to repair credit, suddenly bring every collector and JDB out of the woodwork?
  9. Hello everyone, I am a newbie to the forum so forgive me if this question has been asked many times before. I have done a lot of research on the site and appreciate all of the helpful info I've gotten so far. I am in the phase of removing all old addresses from my credit reports and have successfully been able to do so easily with Equifax and Transunion. As most of you know from what I read, Experian wont budge on any old addresses. I got some dorky sounding guy on the phone named Kevin that sounded like he was reading from a script. My questions is this: Is it even worth the time to dispute negative TL's with Experian or should I try to do so anyway? I also read somewhere that someone "froze" their Experian CR due to this. What exactly does that mean and what does it entail? I don't want to tell them that there has been identity theft if that is what freezing is. But I thought that maybe it just meant that no one can pull credit from this agency but not because of identity theft. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Hi, I am new to this site and have been researching for weeks. I have written my hipaa letters, but recently found on your forum the opt out and address deletion information. I believe I opted out from a link given on this site, but saw another post where someone had to opt out to all 3 bureaus. My main question is in regards to deleting my old addresses. Most all of my medical bills are from the address I am currently at (my parents). Should I try to get a new address or P.O. box before I send out my letter of dispute? I also have tons of addresses on experian as I have moved around a lot should i put an old address from a different state and just have my mail forwarded? Also, a lot of my good standing loans are from same address as medical bills so I am wondering if I delete if this will effect my good standing accounts? I am not sure what to do next? Is the address part of the dispute greatly affected by this whole process? Thx so much for your time and help!
  11. Hello everyone, I have been reading the forums for quite awhile, but this is my first post. Thanks so much to all of you veterans who have educated me in the initial steps to cleaning up my credit! After doing my homework, I have opted out with all three CRA's and am now working on removing my old addresses from my credit reports. With TransUnion and Equifax, I have already sent out letters. However, I hear that Experian is a real beast in this department. While I will try not to request deletion of all of my old addresses with these guys, I have somewhat of a "unique" question about 2 former addresses on my credit report... Ok, here's the deal. I lived at a sober living apartment for 8 mos. I have no clue how the credit bureaus got a hold of this address, as all of my mail went to my sister's address in another state, and she in turn mailed it to me. I was however, required to get an ID with the DMV in the state I was residing during this time, and the address of the sober living apartment was on that ID. So I am assuming this is how they got it. My question is this-Can I have Experian (and the other 2 CRA's for that matter if they will not cooperate) remove this address due to HIPAA? Seems to be a Privacy issue somehow. I look at it as a long term treatment facility, and I don't see how they can be able to keep it on my CRA if I request it to be taken off. And frankly, I don't feel comfortable about it being on there if a potential employer pulled my credit. Then again, maybe I have no clue what I am talking about either. Second, my sister's address that all of my mail at the time went to is also listed. Can I just address that as ":Never lived there"? I never did live with her so it's not lying. Hope someone can help with this, and thanks again so much for all of the helpful posts.Hope I didn't go on for too long.
  12. I looked on their website and found two different addresses, but feel like these may not be right: Comenity Bank PO Box 182273 Columbus, OH 43218-2273 Victoria's Secret North American Office P.O. Box 16589 Columbus, Ohio 43216-6589 U.S.A. Has anyone sent a Goodwill letter to VS, which address did you use?
  13. Okay, so I have been doing fairly well on my repair journey. I am still waiting on my Equifax report in the mail after sending them my updated identification, but I looked on Citi and figured I could start with that. I have 3 things that I have questions about. 1 - Collection (TU). This was post BK and was for a gym membership that stupid me decided to sign up for a year for, and only used for a couple of months. This was about $90 a month and I just stopped paying. I eventually did PIF (8/2010), but I was not aware of this PFD stuff until recently. It is through Affiliated Acceptance Corporation (http://www.profinserv.com/). How do I go about removing this from my report? Simply call and ask? 2 - Addresses. Equifax reports my former as my current, my current as my second former, and also a former from 2007. All show as reported 12/2012. Experian has my current correct and also my 2 formers, and TU the same. I would like for only the current to be reported. 3 - Employment. Equifax does not report any, and Experian and TU both show my current and one former each. Both formers are different. How important is it for a CRA to have a current employer? Is it advisable to remove formers? Thanks! Other than that I have to let a bunch of hards fall off over the next year or so, and other than Navy I don't foresee myself pursuing any other cards (maybe an auto loan refi..). This should clear up my report and make it all accurate and current. In the meantime, I will be increasing utilization by decreasing balances. I love this board!
