I'm very new to posting to this forum but have been using it for reference over the last month and wanted to share my recon story. I already had a Barclay's Reward Mastercard that I've had for over 7 months now and recently hit the CLI button. When asked how much I wanted, I was rather conservative and only asked for $250 which was granted after about an hour. So then I thought, perhaps I could have asked for more? So after reading on here about people calling the recon line to ask for more, I took a chance. After going over my account and answering a few questions, they granted me another $250! So I decided to apply for the Barclays Apple Visa card. After submitting I got the denial message and told me that I would get a letter within 7-10 days stating why. I submitted that application on Friday right before 5pm. I decided to call the recon line to see if I could get it overturned but by then it was already after 5 and they were closed. So I gave them a call today and talked to a very nice lady about reconsidering the application. She looked at my history with them and asked about my recent new inquiries which are all because I'm still rebuilding my credit history after completing BK13 a few years back. She also asked about my limited credit history gap which was because of the BK. I answered all her questions and she said since I have a good history with them and have been managing all my accounts well, that she would approve my application. I was stoked! This couldn't have been possible without the help and information that y'all provide on this forum. I can't thank y'all enough!

I was rummaging through Amazon credit card marketplace and saw an offer for a $50 Amazon gift card for applying/getting approved for the SDFCU EMV Visa card. So, after thinking about it for a minute or a day I can't remember which, I applied. I was already a member of the American Consumer Council so that was my way in. This is how it played out...so far. Applied yesterday morning Yesterday afternoon received 3 emails from SDFCU/Docusign that I needed to sign. Opened those up, they included the CC app, membership app, rate disclosure (11.99%), risk disclosure (stating I received this because although I was approved I didn't get the best rate), EXP score, letter stating they looked forward to serving me, yada yada yada, request for POI and whether I'd like card security on the card. So I called member services and they said in order to complete the process I needed to fill out a member app, and I said ok, well there was one included in all the stuff I signed and he said well that could take a few days, he could do it over the phone and then notify the loan officer that was completed. So I said sure, filled out one over the phone, he sent me another membership app to sign and now that shows pending. Has anyone had a similar experience with SDFCU? I'm assuming I was approved since they gave me my rate, gave me the letter stating although I was approved it wasn't for the best rate and said I just had to join in order to finish up the process, but I'm leery. All this for a $50 Amazon gift card LOL!

My mission to repair my credit! I made poor choices with my credit because I was too young to understand the importance of it. Any valuable information garner will be greatly appreciated! How can I go about having this negative TL deleted. there seem to be so many erroneous information about this debt on my CR. I have yet to be contacted by a CA or JDB over this debt. I have reached out to Bloomingdales and they say they don't have any record on file for me... Which throw me into a loop, because they are reporting negative TL on all three CRA.... HELP! Visa/Dept Stores National Bank (Bloomingdales visa I think) Status: Account charged off. $4,143 written off. $4,143 past due as of Mar 2012. Status Details: This account is scheduled to continue on record until Dec 2016. Date Opened: 05/2003 Reported since: 03/2010 Last reported: 3/2012 DOFD: 3/2010 I noticed there is two CO dates, 9/2010 and 3/2012 (I wonder if I can dispute that for erroneous CO date?) Credit Limit/ Original Amount: $4,600 Recent Balance: $4,143 as of 03/2012 Comment: Account closed at credit grantor's request. -RealMkoy

So I told myself I would be staying away from apps for a while but I received an email on the 24th of feb saying I had been pre approved for the Flagship Visa Signature Rewards card. I immediately got excited and started the app but then realized I had added a few inquiries by applying for navcheck and discover it (which I got approved for with a starting limit of $1800) so I was hesitant thinking my score might have been higher when they checked for pre approval qualification vs dropping a few points from recent Inqs. But then I figured wth and filled it out. Waited a couple of days and kept checking the status and it said review in process. Finally three days after submitting the app I got a phone call and they needed income verification. After a super friendly phone call the lady said she sent my app back to a credit and lending agent and I should check back. I knew it wouldn't get a decision over the weekend so I didn't check and then I figured I'd give it all of Monday (today) and as I'm eating dinner I realized I hadn't checked the status for a while. Logged in expecting either a denial or review message and lo and behold approved for the starting minimum limit of $5k Plan on taking advantage of it for BT purposes and to help with util. This is one of my higher limit cards and lowest interest rates so I'm pretty excited. All the rebuilding work is definitely paying off.

Does anyone have any idea what FICO score NFCU is looking for to lower your interest rate to their best 9.9% for their signature VISA card? I currently have 16.99% and would be interested in any antidotal evidence of others getting lower rates for a given FICO score. The credit pulls database doesn't seem to have any data on this topic. I asked the NFCU CC representative and they told me they could not state so given that they believe they are held to a federal law that requires that they do not influence my decision as to whether to apply or not for the reduction as telling me the guidelines could influence my decision to apply since they knew I was considering applying. This seems like a really lame federal law, I wonder what it is and if all lenders interpret it this way? I mistakenly suggested I should call back to ask and they said they would notate my account so that the representative would not abide.

For anyone who's interested. Found it on one of the main page banners. "Special Offer: Get 60,000 points when you spend $3,000 within the first 90 days of opening your account. That's enough for a $600 ticket!"

Going to finally pull the trigger on applying for a Barclay card today. TU FICO is 675. I have seen some different opinions on here of which is best to go for as a first card? Seems like Apple through the store is a frequent suggestion. Is there any better chance of getting approved if I say I will likely send $500 vs I will likely spend $2500? Any other one that would be a great first card with them? Any that are really hard to get and I should avoid? Yes, have looked in the database, but clearly there are a lot more approvals and denials than people are reporting. Thanks!

DW and I was in Lowe's the other day and we were looking at a washer/dryer set when an associate mentioned applying for the Lowe's card but I decided I would apply at a later date. When I got home I did a search on the Lowe's card and a Lowe's Visa Reward Card popped up in my results. An old thread mentioned it was once issued by CapOne but now I believe it is now issued by GECRB...I also noticed a AMEX version as well. I would love to have the Visa version...https://credit.lowes.com/LowesMarketing/marketing/LowesLogin.jsp Returning Users Sign in to your Lowe's credit account by selecting one of the following cards: Old thread: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=250092&do=findComment&comment=4833668

Hey all, I was recently approved for Navy Federal's Platinum card with a $14K limit. I transferred about $11,600 from my BOA MasterCard. I was concerned about high utilization on the card but I really wanted to take advantage of the 0% . At any rate, on the second call to customer service, I got a nice rep and explained my concern and she submitted a CLI request to the lending department with all the comments I had mentioned. I asked for 20K just to be safe. So, I check my account this AM and my credit line had been increased to 20K!!! This brings my available credit to $90K. And now my utilitization overall is about 11-12% now. Whew! I can stop sweating now lol
