  1. I was an AU on first premier bank card, the last reported date was jan 2009, can I do a PDF on it? that is affecting my score at this time. TIA
  2. I am trying to see what my business credit reports have on them. Are there coupons or something available to see Experian and Equifax business reports for a discount or free?
  3. Alright so the HSBC CO and the resulting collection from PRA are the last baddies on my files, PRA has continued to treat my PFD letter as disputes even though I say in the letter that I am not disputing, and HSBC has repeatedly referred me to PRA when I send GW letters to them. So my next plan of action is this; Call PRA and request a pay in full for deletion, the amount is 583, the accounts are due to fall off next year and are well beyond the SOL for PA of 4 years. They already ding my report every month and the only benefit of settling this account is to have them report paid in full for another year. As we all know how hard they are to get off I will tell them I will pay in full for deletion or else I will send them a decist and desist letter, and forget about them till they fall off and they will never see a dime from me. Now I will probably pay it after the fact as the debt is mine but I do not want to pay it while they continue to report. Obviously this is a long shot and I have no inclination that it will work, but I figure it is worth a shot. Thoughts? Would it behove me to just pay it and be done with them and continue GW both companies?

I'm a newbie here and i'm most of my time. I enjoy things I've been learning and very grateful. I seem to be slow or always late. Soon as I learn what B was, and started pulling they deleted them. I was looking good for half of a day. Thanks for sharing CB. I will keep trying till I succeed.
  5. Hello everyone.First,I want to say how awesome this board is and thanks for all the info that Ive been lurking. 6. My friend received a letter from a California collection agency dated December 2014 giving first notice that they know of for a new collection account that is not appearing on any credit report. We sent this HIPAA WhyChat program letter CM requesting debt validation. Very quickly the CA responded with their own letter CMRR (which he signed, so now they have a copy of his signature). The CA letter was two pages. On page one it stated in part: On page two it gave a computer printout of the account history allegedly from OC: This does not appear to be debt validation to me, nor does it comply with our written request for: Agreement with your client that grants you the authority to collect on this alleged debt, or proof of acquisition by purchase or assignment and authorization... Agreement that bears the signature of the alleged debtor wherein he or she agreed to pay the creditor and as this is a medical account a copy of any HIPAA authorization. How should we proceed if we wish to not let this ever appear as a collection on his credit report, he is happy to pay it in full. Can we proceed to the HIPAA letter at this point?
  7. My ex-husband had this removed from his credit report all three bureaus but they refuse to remove it from mine. I have disputed it several times as not mine and it comes back valid debt.
  8. HELLO... Thank you in advance to whoever read this post and reply. I am here because am new to CB and I really need help repairing my credit. I have a total of 8k in collection between 7 credit cards and one co-signing on my brother school. How should I address each one of them? Capital one HSBC with Portfolio recovery JCP Macys BOA with Calcary Capital One with Midland Chase Univerisity Trail with Southern Management. Where do I start? I just received a cancellation of debt (form 1099-c) from Macys CC. What should I do about it ? How do I get all those collections removed from my report?
  9. Hello! I am a newbie and have spent some time reading this forum and through PsychDoc’s Credit Repair for Beginners. I have absorbed a lot of information and feel a bit confused and overwhelmed as to how to proceed with clearing up my credit. I did get my free credit report and the only thing on it that I see wrong is a previous address, although I am still learning and digging into it. My ultimate goal is to achieve clear credit and increase my credit score to buy a bigger and nicer house. PART ONE: I have 3 items in collections. Verizon, now about $1200 (2013), University bill, $780 (2013), and Chase MCM, $3900 (2012). I received my tax return and decided to pay off what debt I could. I called Midford Credit Management (Chase) first gave them my information and let them know I would like to settle, after some back and forth they can only settle for $2960, which is much more than I anticipated, Chase has previously told me it would be $1200 to settle. (BTW – the entire phone call is recorded by me.) I also thought my ex was on this account and they said he wasn’t and offered to ‘dispute’ it to discover if he was and what happened. I agreed to dispute, but when I got home and looked at old files I discovered that this Chase was all mine, (ugg). I am now freaked out because I confirmed my address etc, although I told him I rent, I do own the mobile home and rent the lot. I am now unsure of how to proceed as I have read MCM is highly corrupt and I am concerned about them taking a lean on the mobile home, which is all I have. I am unsure as to what to do next: 1. I ask for validation via certified mail (per PsychDoc) 2. I should let the ‘dispute’ go for now as they have 30 days (from what I have read) to respond to the dispute and the CA told me it could take up to 4 months and therefore that would put them out of compliance with the law. (this call is recorded by me so I have proof of the beginning of the 30 days) 3. Send cert letter of dispute and/or validation. 4. Pay the stinking $2900 and be done with them…although I am aware I may have to continue the fight but I will have evidence or the agreement and what I paid. Please let me know what you think. PART TWO: Moving forward with my Ultimate Goal…I have $3300 to pay off current current or collection debt. At this point I am thinking of paying off 2 current cc’s, which opens $3300 on those cards (along with paying off another $1000 in other cards). The open $3300 on those cards as well as the additional $150 a month will allow me to snowball (per Doug Ramsey) and pay off my other current cc debt as well asthe option to legitimately settle the Verizon, chase, and university bills. Please offer any suggestions on how to proceed with this. Thanks!...And I wish I had found this board sooner!
  10. Hi all, I am new to this forum. I want to learn and just say to all Good Evening.
  11. This is a chargeoff from an OC that is paid. Account Type: Unsecured loan Date Opened: 1/1/2006 Account Status: Closed Payment Status: Paid, was a chargeoff Term: 61 months This is only showing on my Experian report. Went 90 days late in Apr 2008. What should I do. Any help would be appreciated.
  12. I have received all 3 bureau reports via www.annualcreditreport.com , in PDF format. (If this is not the way to go, please let me know, I'll start over and pay for paper copies, have no problem paying for the reports.) I have opted out at www.optoutprescreen.com. I have scoured all 3 reports and I am ready to prepare letters to each of the 3 bureaus to remove all name variations (2 with wrong middle initial, 2 with 2 middle initials), names that are not mine (my father's), wrong SS#'s (my father's), wrong phone numbers (11 to be exact and the only ones I recognize are my current cell & my Mom), old addresses (some may be attached to good TL's I think??), old employment history (I've had the same job for 8 years now). This will be my first step in my credit repair. As for rebuilding, I did open a new account in January, a Cap One QS1 from a pre-approved offer in the mail before I opted out. I received this offer after ordering the credit reports. Will this be good for start of re-build or do I need to app for another card? I have 7 TL's on each bureau reporting in good standing and basically reporting the same information on all 3 reports: CarFinance Open Current/ paying on time every month SnapOn Open Current/Last used in Oct 2006 Express Open Current/Last used in Apr 2007 (only one showing credit limit $500) Capital One Closed Current/Oct 2005 (Inactivity) Chase Closed Current/Dec 2008 (Inactivity) CareCredit Closed Current/Mar 2009 (Inactivity) BrandSmart Closed Current/ Feb 2008 (Inactivity) And my one negative is: Midland Funding LLC, Open/data factoring company/ 1 month term /DOFMD 04-2013
  13. Dear Members, I am an international citizen who used to live in Florida for about 4 years and left the country in October 2008. I left US in a very difficult moment. I had a very hard time after my surgery, not just financially but also emotionally. Moreover, and as a foreign students I did not understand a lot of things, therefore when I left the country leaving some unpaid debt. I checked my credit at CreditKarma.com and I see that I have about $7000 in collection agencies and under "other debt" I read a larger amount but for sure that is not mine. Recently, I have this work opportunity to move to US,(Michigan) therefore, I want to have a clean credit before coming there. I am aware of all measures one should take to clean the credit: 1- make a settlement with collection agencies (not sure how easy is that) 2- pay a credit agency to do the work for you (I am not reading good reviews about them) or lawyers (very expensive) 3- open a secure credit card. However, I can't afford to pay any amount, not during the first month in US, considering the fact that even a small payment restarts the clock of status of limitation. I am reading a lot, however, each case is special therefore, I signed up here to have some directions/suggestions from anyone that is more comfortable with different laws (credit card or state laws) Your help is kindly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions. I really need some real answers. One last thing, I have a hard time understanding abbreviations, even Google sometimes does not recognize most of the abbreviations people use , therefore please the easier the better for me. Thank you p.s Elements to consider: 1-I've checked Florida's public records and there are no judgment under my name. 2- I can not have access to a free credit report from free credit.com as I leave abroad, and I would like to start clearing things up before I move to US 3- Credit Karma gets information from TransUnion, Equifax and my scores are about the same in both,(2 points of difference) which makes me think that there will be no much differences in results with a report from the three CRA's
  14. To sum up and take full responsibility... I had an Amex Gold Premium Rewards card, open for a 1yr, lost my job and had to make decisions on what to pay and what not to. My balance way 6300, after 60days late Amex canceled card and it went to GC services. I got a job and payed off card immediately but the account was already 150days late. It has been 6 months since payoff. Is there anyway to get Amex to remove the late? Does anyone have any experience with Amex removal? Thank you for any help, much appreciated!
  15. I pulled both smart credit and credit karma today and TU score dropped 27 points! There is absolutely nothing different on the reports from the day before. What could have possibly happened? We're trying to make our reports extra clean because we need to apply for an adoption loan within the next six months or so and had a few 30 day lates from last year we were trying to get off from when we were in Africa. Those and our 5 year old BK are the only things on there and our score just dropped from 692 to 665 :/ We were hoping to be at 700 when we our final paid off credit card hit our report in the next couple weeks! I'm pretty sure we'll be hard pressed to find something with under a 700
  16. I first logged onto this site in December of 2013, after looking into buying a new car and discovering that my strategy of "cash only / no credit" was holding me back. I wasn't a credit consumer, and didn't realize how so much old/incorrect/outdated/downright NEGATIVE stuff was torpedoing me. Like anyone else, I logged in looking for a "quick fix", but found a whole new world of insight and hard work. I started in earnest in February (after reading everything I could here - often over and over before it would sink in). I made a few missteps along the way, BUT the results have been tremendous... I started with the following scores - this was with anywhere between 11 - 15 derogs depending upon the CRA, and only THREE positive TLs between them... (Plus a positive mortgage) Over time, I tackled them using pretty much every tactic discussed on this site. The medical stuff got WhyChat'd, the older stuff got obsolete'd, the incorrect stuff got disputed and deleted. There were PFD's, 1-2 punches and a crap ton of record keeping and backtracking... In that time, I've managed to rack up the following POSITIVE TL's : AmEx PRG AmEx Green AmEx BCE -17.5k AmEx BCP - 15k AmEx HHonors - 5k (All of the above with a MS Date of 1993!) Lowe's - 20k NFCU Sig - 25k USAA World M/C - 6k USAA AmEx - 5k Discover 17k I also managed to "grow" the only 3 TLs I had from before (PayPal, Amazon and Bealls) from $150-300 limits to a couple grand each along the way - salvaging the time I had with them on the record... Not the least of all, I went from unable to buy a decent vehicle to walking out of a dealership with top tier rates and a deal that I was able to negotiate from a position of strength - THAT alone was a tremendous victory for me. Long story short, my FINAL dispute on EQ was deleted and reflected on MyFICO this morning, and gave me an 88 point jump! The scores below show the change, but they don't even reflect the two shiny new Amices with 22 years of age that I just got last week. These scores are also with a 6k revolving debt reporting on my NFCU card which WON'T be there next month. I'd guess that with my util maxed out at 1% and the two "new" old cards reporting I should see solid 800's + across the board! Thanks a million for all of the help along the way! Hope I can pay some of it back.
  17. Hello, I have some older charge offs (around 2 years) and some new medical collections (< 1 year). I dont know why I have the medical bills at all seeing as I had insurance at the time. I also have a student loan that Im current on. Id like to try and get the medical collections removed (theyre small debts, <200$) and am planning to call the CA's and negotiate for a PFD (only in writing).. my question is, with the student loan and the charge offs will having getting secured credit cards and being a "good little boy" help my score enough? (Its 541 at one bureau and I want it to be at least 620 everywhere). Thanks
  18. Hi everyone! I'm a college student who happens to have the same name as his father. I have no debt myself besides student loans that are current and I'm working on paying off. My dad, OTOH, not so much. He's recovering from a extended job loss and there's not so good items on my report as a result of the name sharing. I've now gotten into the habit of using II as a suffix to try and create some separation (it's also in my legal name since birth)...lesson learned there. Because of the "baddies" on my reports, my credit isn't where i'd want it to be. I've known this for years but get frustrated and overwhelmed when I try to do something about it. I've tried disputing online a few years ago but now I realize that it likely wasn't the best move thanks to what I've read here. Now, I have the space, time (only going to class part time) and motivation (want to upgrade from a room rental I just got to a apartment one day + I want to be able to get a car loan if my car dies) to truly devote to this. Before I read CB, I downloaded PDF copies of my EQ and EX reports from annual credit report. I tried to get the TU but it had some sort of error. I ended up getting TU's pdf copy from Credit Karma. Here's the negative/incorrect stuff by report: EQ: Fingerhut/Webbank - Charge Off. DoFD: 02/2011, Date of Last Payment: 04/2011 Midland Credit Mgmt - Open - Date Opened: 01/31/13 DoFD: 02/2011 (I disputed this a few years ago and it shows up on EQ report) Verizon - Open - Charge Off. DoFD: 07/2010 EX: Midland Funding - Date opened matches EQ TU: Fingerhut/Webbank - Charge Off - Closed - No missed payments. Dispute resolved; reported by grantor Midland Funding - Acct information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements. I also want to correct the name that appears on each report. Not just in the "names you go by" section (For lack of a better term) but also in the header. I want it to include that "II" suffix as I'm learning that it's super important to use that on anything that I sign up for, period. Finally, there's a few addresses that are incorrect/I no longer live at. I just moved out of my parents house a week ago so I don't even have a PO box set up at my new place. Now, the questions: Before I read CB, I had typed up letters to send to EQ, EX and TU. Unfortunately they're based on form letters and apparently that's frowned upon. I do plan on rewriting them on yellow lined notebook paper with a purple gel pen, based on what I read here on CB. Still, would it be ok for me to post one here to see what i need to tweak/eliminate? Can I get away with asking for address deletion/name change along with the negative TL removal in the same letter? Or should i send separate letters and verify in between? I plan on getting a PO Box Monday (landlord recommends this since I'm in a house share divided in two between floors). Should I state my new current physical address in the letters? Finally, I've read mixed posts about whether I should send CMRRR or just CM, and whether RRR makes the CRA's less likely to do what you want. Opinions? I've spent yesterday and today reading CB's newbie stickies along with a few relevant threads i found by searching, Thanks so much for this great resource, I really appreciate any assistance you all will be able to give! I'm just still overwhelmed by all the new information. PsychGuy's transcripts were especially helpful. Other Vitals as requested in the newbie posts thread: PA resident. Credit Karma Beta (vantage score 3) scores: TU: 618, EQ: 612 Thanks a bunch!
  19. Hello, I am looking for advise on my Charges off BOA account. I have it reporting as a chargoff .....BOA - DOFD Aug 2010 Chargeoff 220.00 Bal... My question is, I would like to make this right by paying it off. Gravy would be to get the tradeline deleted and eventually get in again with them. (I hope!) I disputed this TL in Dec. 2014 and it came back validated. Not only that, they updated my reports and showed CO for the last year, effectively dropping my score 30 points. UHG! Darn unintended consequenses! So I'm hoping that any of y'all who have been there, done that, have some advise as to how I can clean this one up. I would like to add that I will be (hopefully) shopping for a mortgage in the next six months. Thanks a bunch in advance!
  20. I have NFCU Cash Rewards 22,000and Nav Check. 12,000 Was asking for a 3rd card a bad idea
  21. In 2007, I requested for a home phone service installed from Verizon. Nobody came to install. Never received a phone bill. Until I received a collection notice for $260. At that time, I contacted Verizon, issue has been resolved. I wasn't actively checking my credit report (because I was stupid and I didn't know how important it was in this country!) In 2012, I requested for my CR (freeannualcreditreport) and saw AFNI reporting abt the Verizon account, wrote them a DV letter, never received any written response but it was removed from my CR. I just received a letter from them yesterday asking me to settle it ($108) with them for less so they can close the file. Yes, YEARS later. Can they report this nonexistent account again on my CR? I am going to send DV and send my documents from Verizon again. Is there anything else I can include or write in my letter? Thank you!!!
  22. FICO 680, which card offers higher CL on app? Do I recon and for how uch?
  23. First post here. Requested verification of 2 cell phone accounts on my CR. Equifax and TransUnion removed them Subsequently received requests for EOC/CCA that I needed to sign an Affidavit of Forgery and return to them or the item (ATT) would be added back on March 1. Do I need to do this? Didn't receive anything like this from Pinnacle for Verizon.
  24. I had a bit of a slog finding them, so thought I'd give everyone the CRA updated contact information that worked for me to reach live humans at all three agencies today: Experian PO Box 9701 Allen TX 75013 phone (800) 208-9232 (no fax) Equifax PO Box 105518 Atlanta GA 30348 fax 888-826-0573 phone (866) 493-9788 TransUnion PO Box 2000 Chester PA 19022 fax (610) 546-4771 phone (800) 916-8800
  25. Hello, I've been reading this forum for some time. I've taken some actions on my own, but I have a few scenarios that I would like advice on from the community. Because I have separate issues, you will notice a few new topics from me. I will try my best to be as concise as possible. Many thanks in advance. You guys are great. The situation: I’ve researched extensively the process for approaching disputes, verification, and validation in dealing with CAs. For almost 3 years I have been paying on 1 CC with US BANK that, according to them, is in “collection,” but has never been reported as such on my CRs (internal USB collection, I guess). I also have a CO CC with Bank of America that I’ve been paying on for the same amount of time, but after it charged off it was handed over to their subsidiary, FIA. The CO is clearly on my CRs, but it mentions nothing about collection and no other agency has reported on it. The question: How does one approach verification and validation requests when the CA is internal to, or a subsidiary of, the OC? Does the approach differ from what one would use if the CA was entirely independent? Everything I've read assumes that the two are completely separate. Similarly, would it be pointless to attempt to dispute late payments with the CA since they’re part of the OC? I assume that the likelihood of communication and record sharing is greater in these circumstances, but I don’t have any evidence for that. Thoughts and advice much appreciated!
