So I settled at court for 2/3 of my balance with Midland. In my Transunion, as of July they updated showing I owe the remaining 1/3 balance. and that it is an open account. My other reports haven't updated yet. The court document states : "The defendant agrees to pay a settlement amount of $xxx by DATE. (I did pay this) The parties desire to fully and permanently settle, discharge and release any and all claims that they may have against each other and/or counsel pursuant to the terms contained herein." I don't think its possible that I still "owe" in a way considering I settled, right? I know they cant sue me for this as they dismissed the case with prejustice. Or is it possible they can still report the remaining balance, even though they can't collect the remaining balance thru the courts. What should be my next course of action if they are reporting incorrectly? I was thinking a DV letter first, following the 1 - 2 punch guidelines.

So my wife is going to app for a mortgage. She checked her credit score today and it is 692. She has 2 credit cards ( 1 Chase, and 1 Barclays). Both cards have a $5000.00 limit and both have a balance of 1000 dollars each. She also has 1 line of credit close to maxed out ($4000 limit/3720.00 used). She also has 1 installment loan which she will be finished with in 3 months. She only has 2 lates but those were back in 2007. How can she raise her FICO to over 700 besides paying down the credit cards? I know her utilization is high and not below 10%. Should she app for another credit card? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I am a young woman who recently finished college. I worked part time and took longer than expected to finish college for personal reasons. I have lived with my parents my whole life and they have been responsible for all non-petty expenses. I have been on my parents insurance my entire life. 04/01 I moved in with my boyfriend about 300 miles from where I used to live. He has an excellent job and is paying 100% of the rent and takes care of most things. I have my own job and cover all my own expenses(car insurance, phone, gas, etc) When I moved out, my parents told me they would continue to keep me on their insurance in the short run so that I could save money. I currently work 35 hours a week doing a local job for a little over minimum wage. April 27 of this year I went to a local clinic in Houston for an OBGYN checkup to renew my birth control. I gave them my insurance card, no one mentioned any issue at the time, visit went fine. on 7/3 I get a notice from a collection agency for 1119$ in unpaid medical bills. After doing some research here is what I have found. 1:I have not been on my parents insurance since 02/1 of this year, before I moved out 2:The insurance account I was under is now delinquent due to unpaid bills. 3:I currently now have no insurance which is scary. 4:The clinic I went to was unable to contact me via phone or mail(Verified my address on file was correct. They didnt provide proof of returned post and no proof of phone contact) 5:The clinic says that they are no longer willing to work with me since the account has gone to collection(its a big medical service provider where we live) I have the money on hand to pay the bill, however I want to know how this will impact my credit. I also want to reduce damage and if possible reduce the amount. What are my next steps?

If so, details, please. I'm gardening now, and it is a downer! Looking for some ray of hope come November when I leave this gardening stuff 😂😂😂😂😂. Thanks!

I am trying to repair my credit and need lots of help. I have student loans that they won't remove even though the accounts have been closed since 2007. They were sold to another company and updated. They are reporting that the accounts were opened in 2010. Not true. Please help

Good day fellow credit boarders! I am seeking advice on an account that I had charged off in 2010. Basically, I was 60 days delinquent and then my account to Armed Forces Bank was charged off. The only delinquency I have ever had on the account was for the 60 day period. I was not informed that this account would be charged off, just closed because I did not meet the terms of the credit card agreement. Upon catching up my payments after the 60 days late, I paid the balance off. Flash forward to today, I am wishing that I was informed that the account was charged off so I could negotiate with them for a removal from my credit report. Any suggestions on how to go about removing this account. Armed Forces Bank I believe is now part of the Bank Of Midwest family. Thanks to you all for you suggestions in advance.

So, I am in the process of rebuilding. My credit went into the toilet in the summer of 2010 when I was *trying* to rebuild, and a month after I got FP, I ran for my life from an abusive marriage. Everything went to pot. Utilities, my FP account. That was the damage. However, some good things remained in my favor. The joint secured USB Visa that my ex and I held from 2007 to 2010 was closed in the divorce proceedings, and always had an excellent payment history. It still sits on my reports as "Closed by Customer" today. A very, very old Citi Student card from 2000 is still reporting, even though I never used it and its marked as "closed". My student loans are on a IBR plan, and the one that I am paying on is never late. I started back on the road to rebuilding by opening these cards in this order: Cap1 Platinum Pre-Approval came in the mail in September 2014, and I let it sit....I said "why not, give it a shot" and I submitted the app by mail. I was approved for a $300 CL. Then, I thought that since I was interested in purchasing a nice piece of jewelry for myself, I went to Kays Jewelers and wanted to pay outright for a beautiful ring. I was encouraged to apply for an account, and they stated that my $600+ purchase would give me a 12 month interest free. I took them up on it, and got that $2100 CL! Then....because I do shop at Ann Taylor and their Factory Store frequently, I apped for one of their store cards. Got a toy limit of $250. Went into the Garden until February when I applied for Macys in store (love their sales, and I'm trying to get decent housewares for my apartment) and got an instant approval for $800! Went to Lane Bryant....instore approval for $500. My signature tells the rest. Flawless payment history on all of the cards there, and I am working on paying off the 3 cards with a balance to get my Utilization low as possible. My scores are all CK FAKOS, but I am now looking at getting my reports, and then seeing what kind of things I can do to help. The baddies are nearing obsolete status between June and September 2017 (FP)....and I'm gardening now. I have three Credit Goals: 1. Getting another revolver (hopefully with a better limit) in June 2016, and being able to get my paws on whichever card Amtrak Guest Rewards MC evolves into sometime later...since I don't fly...I Amtrak. Those points would enable me to go on my Amtrak trips much more easily. My big hope is to buy a home in 2019 or 2020.

My credit score is in the high 700's as of now but I don't know how long that will last. I went on a short vacation in Charleston, S.C. in March 2015, where I attended a little high pressure sales seminar. For whatever reason, I bought one of the packages that Holiday Passport/Festiva/RTX don't advertise to anyone for the price of $995. The representative wanted me to fill out the form in which I did but I refused to give my ssn. Holiday Passport/Festiva/RTX did, however, get my license number. I used my debit card to charge $195 and they setup 10 payments in the amount of $80 starting May 2015. When I got home, I looked over the package that Holiday Passport/Festiva/RTX had given me and realized that they grossly misrepresented what they were selling. I did some research online and found that this is common practice with this company. I further found tons of complaints online as well as a Lawsuit against Festiva for Telemarketing Act Violations and Deceptive Business Practices. The company representing that day was RTX. RTX is one of the many companies named in the lawsuit. After finding this information and realizing I had been duped, I called my bank and they reversed the charge of the initial $195, although it took them about a week to do it. I had them to cancel my debit card and issue me another one as well. Today, May 14th, I received a call and message that I didn't answer from Holiday Passport / Zealandia Capital Incorporated. I also recieved a letter from them today basically stating that they were notified on 5/5/2015 by my credit card company/bank that the payment due on 5/5/2015 for my Holiday Passport account was declined. I also checked my credit report today and found the following on my Equifax and TransUnion report: EQUIANT FINANCIAL SERVIC #976xxxxx**** 5401 N PIMA RD STE 150 SCOTTSDALE, AZ 85250 (800) 447-1760 Date Opened: 03/21/2015 Responsibility: Individual Account Account Type: Installment Account Loan Type: TIMESHARE LOAN Balance: $800 Date Updated: 04/30/2015 Payment Received: $0 High Balance: $800 As of right now, this bill is reporting as OK, I'm thinking because I wasn't due to pay a bill until this month. I wrote them twice to cancel this package. According to their terms, I had to write them within 14 days of signing in order to cancel the contract. I did write them but didn't hear anything but did receive a call from Holiday Passport to let me know that I would have a payment due in May. By the way, this was sometime in early to mid April when they first called me. I sent a second letter of cancellation but made sure I sent the second letter by registered mail, although it was past the 14 day time limit. I'm not sure about how to proceed with this issue. I have really good credit and I surely don't want to mess that up. I do plan on contacting the Attorney Generals office here in North Carolina but will that do any good as far as getting them off my credit report? They are on two of my credit reports as mentioned above but I would like to take action now and take them off even though they are reporting OK for this month. I don't think that will be the case for next month. What should i do to ensure that this doesn't affect my credit? Any help is greatly appreciated.. By the way, if you were to google zealandia capital incorporated lawsuit, you would find tons of complaints as well as a lawsuit filed by the attorney general in Tennessee. http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/press/2014/pr14-01.html

First of all let me say thank you to all of the informative individuals posting on this site. I've been reading about various topics for about 3 months now and have came up with an action plan and would love for someone to bounce some ideas to me or stop me from making a crucial mistake. I have no sob story that affected me financially to share, just ignorance and lack of knowledge on how important credit was. In 2010 I defaulted on my student loans after several missed payments. It was transferred to a collection company and I completed their rehabilitation program in nine months with no baddies. Transferred to Great Lakes and after 4 or 5 on time payments I had a rough patch where I had 6 missed payments in early 2014 but have since made about 15 consecutive on time payments and my balance is right around $1k. I've had a capital one secured card since 2012 with 2 30 day baddies and 1 60 day baddie. $200 secured raised me to $300 with no additional deposit. 12 consecutive on time payments. I also had a couple of utility collections that were paid in full to the OC, not CA. All removed now. No judgments. At one point I had a score of 494, so I am half-heartedly proud of my (Per CreditKarma) TU 621 Equifax 638 My plan was to open up a few more lines so I could improve my payment history so I accepted a C1 Quicksilver Pre-approval of $1k and got a USAA AmEx of $1k. Those cards are now in hand. I was surprised to be approved to be honest. My plan is to use the Quicksilver for every day purchases for the cash back and pay off the balance right before it cuts down to about 3% util and one small purchase on the C1 Secured and USAA AmEx. ($10 each) and obviously pay off each month. My next plan was to mail, email, fax and call Cap1, Great Lakes, and FedLoan (Harrisburg, PA) a GW letter once a month just as a hail mary. I have enough cash to pay the Student Loan in full but am paying $50/month to build payment history. CreditKarma kind of dings me for not having many open lines, and I would like to have more to speed boost my payment history report but I don't love the idea of opening up toy cards (if I could even be approved) So would a CD Secured loan make sense for me? my bank claims they report to all three bureaus and I have the cash on hand to still have an ok emergency fund even if I had to pay a little interest in the process. I have a few inquiries on my report now as I was declined for the Chase Freedom (idk what I was thinking even applying) and a Barclayscard credit rebuilder (was kind of surprised to be declined) before I opened the USAA AMEX I have tried to use the knowledge I have learned for this site to apply to my personal situation, but any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks again, I cant express how helpful this site has been in my journey.

Just checked USAA CCMP and I almost had a heat attack! For a long time BOA was dormant and not reporting monthly on the charged off credit card that I have with them. All of a sudden, about 2 years worth of KD's showed up. My FICO went from 650 to 585 overnight. DISGUSTED! UUUUUGH ! All that hard work and now this!

I have two accounts that are reporting to my equifax report even thought there outside of New York SOL 5 years. *Macys, DOFD = Sept, 2010 Expected date of deletion: Sept, 2015 Stauts: Charged off, Bal: 444 *Visa/DSNB (bloomingdales), DOFD = Feb, 2010 Expected date of deletion: already past Status: Charged off, Bal: 4,143 I need some advice fellow credit repairers! I am in the process of rebuilding my credit. the above accounts are the only negative threadline I currently have. I reached out to Equifax (via phone) and they denied my dispute to remove the visa/Dsnb account off my report. I was shocked because the Visa/DSNB is outside NYC (5 years) SOL. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. -RealMckoy

I am new and starting my repair after I had an ex doing all our finances and well.... such a hole I am in. I am trying to read and read and read and read. I thought I would start a log like some others to post my journey, ask questions and get some feed back from the pros here. Here is my first question - what is the BEST way to get old addresses changed? I have my three reports from online but have not requested paper reports yet. Is it easier to call to get the addresses removed over the phone or is it easier to send in a letter with my ID and SSN number on paper asking for them to be removed? Please let me know which is the best. Here is what my reports currently look like: I have lots of old debt from 5-6 years ago. Most of it is Medical, a few credit cards, and a couple things on there from insurance company called Penn life. I do not have anything positive reporting. I tried to get a Secured card through my bank but they denied a secured card and told me to actually work on my reports and come back in 3 months. So I am going to have to really find a place to get a secured card so I can get something positive reporting. I will have to post other stuff on my reports later when I am home and have time.... I cant remember what all is on there at the moment. Thanks for any advise. I am trying to read and make notes on which steps to do first, second, third, etc..... Thanks again

I am a SAHM, my husband is a disabled vet- his income comes from the VA, ad he is working on building his credit with two low limit Capital One cards and a store card- We are currently in the position where I can get a secured card in an attempt to raise my personal credit, but is that even possible with no income? If it is, which one would you recommend going with?

I was recently denied a credit application. How can I use this to get copies of my paper reports free? Or do I need to pay for each paper report? I am new and been reading and tryin to make heads and tails o how to start this and do it the right way but man it is so overwhelming with all the info which trust me I AM GRATEFUL to have! My credit is shot by my ex who is a crazy narsasstic sociopath (literally he was deemed this by the court that made him get a diagnosis). I went to a battered shelter and now living on my own and trying to start my life over. Most of the stuff on my reports I 6 years old but I need to get the pape reports. Can you point me to the thread that might have what I need. I have been searching but I don't think I am know the right terms to search the right way yet. Reading on here, I get started on a thread and then that leads me to different other threads and then I am off in 50 different directions. I need to learn to stay on track but hard when there is so much going on and so much info. And I am a very "anxious" person and sometimes I get panic attacks reading and freaking out wondering if I am going to screw this up. How do y'all learn all this? I feel totally stupid. 😣 Thanks for any pointers. When I get my reports I am going to start a post to put it all in there and keep a thread of my journey going so that way maybe I won't feel so anxious about it. Again thank you! UGA

I just want to say that this board has been pretty helpful so far. I haven't looked up my FICO scores yet, but my scores on Credit Karma have improved about 60 points in the past 2 months, just by getting a credit card and disputing a duplicate CA. I just called Transunion today and got a CA removed that was within 6 months of falling off. Has anyone had success with the other CRA's deleting CA's outside of 3 months? I've researched on here, and 3 months is what most people say about the other CRA's.

Ok folks, I'm very new at this so I thought I'd post my progress so that maybe I can get some advice. Meanwhile, I am trying to read as much as possible, but the amount of information that is available here is so overwhelming(not complaining). Here is my story; I recently filed BK7 in 1/2015, it was discharged 5/6/15. I have checked all reports, and they all show IIB, and are reporting $0 balances. Two weeks after my bk was discharged I walked into a dealership to purchase a car. I was approved for a loan through Americredit at 11.9%. My Fico scores were 500-505. I have a stable job, and decent income. I'm guessing that is what helped get me approved. I have been contemplating applying for a credit card (secured or unsecured) so that I can restart the building process. I applied for Cap1 about a week after discharge, and was declined. I received an approval from Fingerhut ($700), and accepted it. I charged a $40 item in hopes that it gets reported to all three right away. I have about $500 set aside and I was thinking about tying it up in a secured card. There it is folks. I'd appreciate any advice, or comments.

Hello, I had my credit score in the range of 750 to 700 (Equifax) until Jun 2013. In Aug 2013 when I applied for AmEx credit card they sent the report obtained for me from Experian. I was surprised as the score was low. Due to an incorrect complaint filed by Bank of America - Business Credit Card unit to Experian my credit score fell down to 482. The Bank of America - Business Credit Card was for my business, but it was wrongly reported which affected my personal credit score. I understand for most business credit card agreements, the banks will ask the card owners also to be personally liable to the credit being offered, in addition to the business being liable. In my case the business credit card account was opened in a branch by filling and signing the forms. So I asked Bank of America to provide a copy of the agreement that I signed which states (according to Bank of America) that I am also personally liable for the credit. Their document imaging unit sent me a letter stating that they were NOTable to locate the document I have requested. When I sent a copy of this letter from Bank of America to Experian, they removed this reporting/complaint from my file. However, my score didn't go up. Kindly let me know if my credit score should have gone up within few months after Experian removing the reporting/complaint from my file. Should I write back to Experian and other credit bureaus about this? Any suggestions? Please advice. Thanks!

Thanks again for all the awesome advice I have gotten here. Need help in getting the last four baddies removed. 1. HILLCREST DAVIDSON (CA) SAFE HOME SECURE (OC) This was an alarm monitoring account. Said they never got my letter cancelling and auto renewed for a property I no longer owned. ...I stopped paying. SAFE HOME: Scheduled to be deleted by 11/15 for EQ and EX. TU already deleted this month. The CA account (reporting on all three). Disputed online and came back verified INCORRECT info showing as follows: Date opened: Jan 2012 Account Status: Closed Last update 4/1/2012 Balance: $2464 (same as showing on the) Showing a delete date of April 2017!!! No DOLP or DOFD info included. Question: I never paid these people a dime. Should the removal date be the same as the OC? Sent VF letter but got nothing done. Sending them a VF letter RRR. Is there anything else that I can do ??? 2. CENTRAL FLORIDA INVEST Time share account I stopped paying in 2004 or 2005 (can't find the records) Only reporting on EX Info from EXPERIAN REPORT Date opened: 2009 (this dates back to 1997 or 1998!!!) Payment status: Late Payment status details: Credit Grantor reclaimed collateral to settle defaulted mortgage Status updated: 1/1/2011 Original Amount: $4398.00 scheduled to report until Sept 2017 No DOFD or DOLP info in the file I disputed as old but came back verified. What can I do here? 3. BANK OF AMERICA Account status shows it was sold to another lender. Reporting on all the CRA's Original amount $600.00 Status: Closed $1,011 written off Date of Status: Comments: Purchased by another lender

Without going into too much detail, I have one remaining MIDLAND account on my credit reports. Prior to me even knowing about CB, I paid the collection in full. After joining CB, I learned about the CRA's reporting accurately and took a hard look at my CR from all 3 CRA's. I found many things that were wrong with the account and the way it was reporting..... such as showing 1 month terms, open account, etc.... I sent a letter to MIDLAND a few weeks ago and listed the FCRA violations (about 5 violations) and telling them they needed to delete the tradeline.. Today I got a response back from them saying the the account was reporting accurately even after I listed what was wrong and what the FCRA rules says. My question is, can I even do this even if I paid the account in full? If I can, then what should my next step be? BBB? AG Office? FCRA? Thanks in advance!
