  1. Did anyone else get Mr. Smith data breach letter? They are offering 24 months of credit monitoring through TransUnion. Big whoop.............
  2. How, you ask? Simple - you just can't win. Look at the two items I have here from Credit Karma (yeah, I know - FAKO not FICO, but the principle remains the same). Same date....... Same amount of change in total Credit Card debt Same direction in the amount of debt - down. Same Credit Card Company involved in the change. Same change in number of Credit Core points What's different? One (EFX) went UP six points, and one (TU) went DOWN six points. It's not the number of points that I am questioning, it is the fact that the exact same documented change cause one score to h=go up, nd another to go down, and both by the exact same number of points. You have better odds in a Casino, and a crooked one at that. .
  3. I tried a 100 day trial for a mattress and didn't relies I was basically taking out a small loan. Before the trial ended I refunded the mattress and they gave me back my money and now I have a closed installment account on my report. All my payments where on time I just want to remove the closed account from my Experian credit report. My original dispute was rejected does anyone have any suggestions?
  4. In 2019, with impeccable credit, I requested a TJMAXX card with Synchrony Bank (SYNCB/TJX) and got approved for $2,000. Amidst crisis and turmoil where I live, paying about $200 I owed from a purchase slipped through the cracks. I have 5 negative marks for late payment. I immediately paid the balance in full. In fact, I always do. The account was closed by the credit grantor. This small sum owed, essentially ruined my credit and I’m in the process of recovering it now. Even though I’m sending dispute letters to the 3 credit bureaus, I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to send a request for Goodwill elimination of my marks directly to Synchrony Bank. My credit history since then shows that I pay all my balances in full in a timely way. I even have bank statements of significant purchases made at the TJMAXX stores since. The crisis and unrest experienced during the period of time where I live when the late payments were made is a testament to the hardships at that time….which led to notices received about late payments slipping through the cracks. I’m confident I can make a good case in a Goodwill letter and offer to open a new card once credit is restored, but I don’t even know if its worth a shot and if that kind of consideration is commonly granted. Logic tells me that pleading to the actual bank for consideration would be more efficient than continuing to knock on the bureaus’ doors with disputes. Any insights or help?
  5. Earlier this month I was fortunate enough to be able to take care of some obligations - it's a big chunk of everything and I'm looking forward to (hoping for?) a nice score bump. Of course, my timing was horrible and all the payments came through just after the closing date, so now I have to wait an entire billing cycle to see the effects (which will be the 1st or 2nd week of October). Time is moving sloooowly... I just wish they would report when the payment was made instead of waiting the full billing cycle - that is, I wish credit reporting was in real time and not batch cycle.

  7. Kiai

    Fico 9 NFCU

Is that a legit score? Why is it so different from Fico 8?
  8. I just discovered that my Chex Security Freeze was removed after seeing on my TransUnion report, in the supplemental information section, info about Chexsystems and checking account inquiries. I called them up and they informed me that previously they automatically cancelled your security freeze after 5 years, but their policy has now changed and they are now permanent. I explained removal without my permission sounded like a violation of California state law. I had to call their freeze department at 800-887-7652 and request a new security freeze be added to my credit report again.
  9. What site does free credit monotoring from experian? I know Credit Karma is for Equifax and Transunion.
  10. Experian has a specialist on my account and will not remove old addresses. I just disputed some items to try to remove the attachments to one of the old address as a test. EX said online when I just checked: This Address was reported to Experian by XXXXxxx and 15 other companies (you can click on the link and get the names). Please contact the company to verify that they have your correct address. Once the new information is reported to Experian, you will be able to submit your dispute online. For further questions, you may contact us at 1-855-414-6048. I informed them that I am now going to also look at the record @LexisNexis.com to see if I could scare them (DID NOT WORK) and also said how can you verify a record that is not complete as per the Bankruptcy Courts and LexisNexis. I will keep writing letters and never give up of course but we will see. I was thinking that holidays time would be best for reps in the USA (mine at Experian would be in the mood to play nice or on holiday so I could find someone new.) I did get TU and EQ to remove all the address attached to bad credit after calling over the last 5 workdays with TU and EQ was Immediate (THIS was DONE BY PHONE). I am now sending the remove letters to TU and EQ that no longer have address attachments. HOW to get the Free credit reports for TU and EQ I get from my CreditKarma.com and pulling up credit report under the bar graph and clicking on the 2 different companies and again clicking on the credit report tab. This is a great tool for verifications of removes once you understand the format (this updates every 4 or 5 days so you have to wait for that). How to get a Free Credit report for Experian is by getting the free account and if you navigate around long enough you can find all of your credit report for verifications as needed. ( this updates quickly most of the time ) 855-414-6048 to dispute on the phone with Experian. Anyone want to call Sam directly at Experian and give him a busy day 469-675-5039 maybe he will quit!
  11. Hello, So, I have two 30-day late payments on my Capital One Credit Cards (one on each card) from Nov 2017. Before I left on military orders on September of 2017 for training, I called them and told them I was being deployed and wanted to try and pay the annual fee a few months in advance, so I wouldn’t have any late payments since I wouldn’t have any contact with the outside world for literally 9 whole months. They said they don’t charge military members the annual fee, and they would waive it for me. After getting back on May of 2018, I pulled my credit report and saw I had 1 missed payment reported on each card. And I’m still confused to this day why. I thought it was probably just a mistake, and I was accidentally charged the annual fees. So I called them, and they said it was from some pending charges as well. I remember leaving with no balance though, and some of the charges don’t seem too familiar to me. Especially one place that I don’t think I’ve ever even been too. My memory is a little foggy though, since it was last year. Even to this day, and being with Capital One for years, I’ve never missed a payment. That is the only time to this day that’s happened. After calling several times, they said I could mail in a credit dispute with the description of the situation and how I’d like it resolved. I was going to mail in this letter (down below) along with my military orders, and the credit reports of the dates the late payments were reported. I’m hoping to be able to get this removed, as it’s affecting me of getting a better interest rate on a loan I’ve been shopping for. Any thoughts or suggestions? https://imgur.com/a/KemMr0r
  12. I asked these questions in another forum under a certain pretense, but didn't get a reply. Instead of bumping the thread there, I will ask the direct questions here: I am a subscriber to this service. Once a year, they give me my 3 credit scores; However, they have recently (past year, give/take) merged with Equifax, and thus I get my Equifax score monthly. Is Mint Credit considered a FAKO, or an (at least) "partial FICO" because of their relationship with that one CRA? Anyone aware of the general accuracy? Anyone have actual experiences, pro or con with Mint Credit? I don't mind them but I'm not in love, so if anyone has better monitoring services (I pay $16.99 mo) I'm all ears. Please, no gratuitous sales here; it will benefit the board if you tell us WHY you like "your" service. thank you, all! DUN
  13. So I decided to cancel Smart Credit today. Nothing left to B*, get my FICO from Barclay's, and their FAKO is way off. Before I got to the final cancellation screen online (which is not really the end of the process), it gave me the option to continue as a customer for $4.95 per month going forward instead of the current $9.95, a 50% reduction. I said, 'No thanks'. Then, of course, it tells you that you are all set to be cancelled, but you just have to call Customer Service to confirm...for 'security reasons'. So I did. And the lady was very nice. She offered me a month for free (starting tomorrow through my next month-end date of September 25th), at which time I can call her back and either choose to cancel as I planned to do today, or I could choose to accept the $4.95 offer. If you are paying the $9.95 per month, why not click your way through the cancellation process and see if you can save some money? Dave
  14. Ok so I paid for the yearly monitoring after taking a look to see which bureaus are most beneficial to have regular monitoring here on the boards. Nonetheless, now that I've given them my $130 I am very confused about something that hopefully you guys can assist me with.... I am seeing two different score when I log into the report and need to know which one is relevant. When i first pull a new report, on a page sharing only my business name and a notification that says if I am on a Downward trend or upward trend, there is a score that says.. SCORE .. of which mine is a 17 (it does note the date next to this of 6/4/13 thought my report is dated today) And then when you pull up the actual report and see all of the detailed information, there is a part that shows.. CREDIT RANKING SCORE ... mine is a 54 Which score am i paying attention to.. which is most relevant if not both.. and how do you have a 17 and a 54.. please do clarify whoever may be more seasoned in Experian and their scoring. Thanks in advance.
  15. Has anyone used the TAKE ACTION button on Smart Credit? Is it any better than doing an online dispute on the TU website, which is WAY below the effectiveness of a written letter? Thanks!
  16. Does anyone know how I can cancel USAA CPM without talking to them? I tried to do it over email and they're not cooperating. Earlier today I sent this to creditcheckhelp@experiandirect.com: They responded with this: So I just sent this, and I'm sure they'll tell me to bug off again: I really don't want to talk to them. They annoy the crap out of me trying to get me to not cancel and going on and on for 10 minutes...they force me to be rude. I'll never sign up for their service again because I know what I'd have to go through to cancel. Really this is my fault for signing up again Yes, maybe I'm being unreasonably anxious about a simple phone call...but there is also the principle that I signed up without talking to them, they shouldn't force me to go through this discomfort to cancel. It's an offensive ploy.
