If anyone can help me with advice, that would be great! So here's my story: I have been working my tail off for the last year to rebuild my credit. I really screwed it up in my teens/early 20's and I'm finally on the right path. It has been over 4 years since my last baddie and I have had a 15 month streak of on time payments. I have acquired quite a few credit/retail cards in the last year that have helped me bring up my score. (started with a CapOne secured card/ now have Nordstrom, Kohls, Kay's, VS, Express and recently a Barclay's card.) Anyhoo, I just had a baby and my employer switched health insurance providers when I was 7 months pregnant. My copays were through the roof and my out of pocket medical bills now = $4500.00. I have about 7 different creditors coming after me, now of which have hit my credit report and I am running out of time. I don't have the money to pay them right now. What can I do to save my report??? Any suggestions?? Please Help!

My spouse recently died. We were living apart in two different states, we kept our property and money separate. I did not know about any of his medical care, nor was i allowed to visit. His sister took care of him for the past year and approved of all of his medical care. She was given money by my husband to pay his medical bills, but she kept the money and did not pay his bills. Now the medical providers say i must pay the bills. I live in missouri. The lawyers i have called say i have to pay under the doctrine of necessaries. Is there any way around this?

Hello CB Members, Newbie here, and I read all the intro stuff so I hope I'm in the right area. I am trying to repair my credit while in college. Long story short, I had some medical issues around 2 years ago, which forced me to cut back from school. As a result, my student loans came out of deferment for a short time (cause I was not in school full-time.) Because I was so sick, and my parent busy caring for me, these payments were never made. Also, a couple of medical appt bills were missed, which were sent to CAs. I am back in school full-time (I should mention, I got a scholarship for full-tuition after graduating from 2-year school, FAFSA is for living/school supply expenses), and my loans are back in deferment. I don't believe they were sent to CAs. I recently have been trying to build my credit, and thus have applied for credit cards. Every time I have been denied, despite having income. I also have been wanting to get a car loan (small one for $2,000) for a used car, but was denied even with a co-signer! I have my annual triple-credit report on hand, here's what it shows... - 2 Medical Appt Bills Sent to Collection - All Nelnet/Dept of Ed/FAFSA Loan Payment Periods (even the good ones that show deferment. The year-period in which I was not deferred shows 150, 120, and 90 Days past due (no collection indication.) I will pay off the 2 med bills ASAP, but I am wondering if the Student Loan Deferments, though in detail look fine, are harming my credit by being shown there. Are student loans always shown on one's credit report, even if they are being paid and in good standing? If so, does this affect credit approval? Lastly, how do I go about removing the 2 med bills from my credit report "swiftly," after paying them? Do I write letters, make calls? Thank you all so much. Again, I apologize for my ignorance, but I really want to learn this stuff and build credit early.

Hi...This is my first post so I am not sure where to start and I don't know all the jargon. I got a phone call from a collection agency yesterday (01.30.2014) from a CA that is affiliated with "Pendrick Capital Partners". They say that my wife owes a $$$320.00 bill from AUG 2006! This has been 8 years! At the time my wife was an international student. We are not sure if we were even in the USA at time. Anyway..she did have insurance so any bill would have been paid through them. The told me that the debt goes to "Southeast Emergency Physicans" which they explained was a third party for emergency room visits. They threatened to report this on her credit scores. I dont know if this is legit and what about the Statue of limitations? We lived abroad and have just recently returned to the USA 3 years ago. The collection agency could not find her number, her current address, phone number and did not mention her now married name. Some how they FOUND MY INFO for her bill and are calling my cell phone for her debt. What should I do? any advice? Thanks

Hello guys, great site you have going on here. Brief intro - I'm turning 20 in 3 weeks, I have one $700 credit card which is maxed because I've had two consecutive injuries that kept me from work, and I have some other things I'm paying. My credit score is in the high 600s and I've been learning a bit about improving it but haven't made much progress. All was well until a couple days ago when I got a call from a CA saying I owe 1100 dollars for a visit I made back in September of 2013. I never got a bill, notice, or anything for those 1100 as I thought the hospital had cleared my charges through some sort of charity discount due to my income and I also had no insurance at the time. Basically I never got the bill, I thought it was taken care of, and now I got a call from the CA saying I owe them 1100. I asked them to send me a paper bill and I just got it today. I have read the newbie posts and all that but it is honestly a crap ton of info, and although I'm sure I can know what to do once I read it, I don't want to waste precious time because I do know that CA have 30 days to act after first contact. My SOL are here removed outbound link. I am located in NV and have talked once to a CA, I told them I don't remember seeing that bill since I never got it and I got the paper form. I hope that's enough info to allow you guys to help me and thanks in advance.
