How long did it take to complete your upgrade from the store card to the Amex? I talked to Macy's about a week ago about upgrading my store card to a Macy's American Express after a botched CLI request (I took a hard inquiry for an increase from $800 -> $1500). I was told that there was nothing in my credit profile that should prevent approval, and that it would take 7-10 days for a decision. I logged into my account as recently as two minutes ago and my account is still showing the store (red) card. What was your experience with the upgrade?

Fellow CBers: I am in need of advice. I was just going through our Macy's account and noticed that I have a revolving balance greater than what I expected. I just charged $250 for the DW's Bday present and was preparing to PIF when I saw that they are reporting we have a balance of $800+. Now I do have a Special Event Purchase that doesn't report to Bureaus and will be PIF by due date 1/15/15 to avoid interest and every month Macy's takes the minimum pmt and disperses it between the Revolving (if there is a balance) and Special Event. I in turn make an additional second payment (as we had problems in the past making one large lump sum payment and not having it applied as we were told it would be) to pay down the Revolving. DW carried a balance for 3 months, which is 1 month longer than it should have been based on the payment I made. Is there any recourse I can take with Macy's as I have been told repeatedly that ANY extra payment will be applied towards the balance being charged interest and NOT the interest free purchase account. I.E. is there any part of the Consumer Protection Act or FCRA that may apply to this situation? Thanks

Being that I don't wear Revival Jeans, I am hoping if anyone can chime in on whether or not ANY of these "Higher end" store cards are worth it to get. They all have a Private or Co-branded product that you can PC to or apply for, I saw one poster saying their Nordstrom's Card (Visa Siggy) is at $55k, WOW!!!! Obviously not the norm, but I am sure there has to be some logic or advantage for some people, in acquiring or app'ing for these products. Obviously, if any were SYNC backed, I'd be all over it, lol. But I am hoping I can get your opinions on the matter. As always, thanks CB!!!

If you have difficulty finding an affordable way to keep your Macy's card active... The closest Macy's to me now has a Starbucks location inside of it. It has a full menu, including hot items, unlike the grocery store kiosks. You can reload your Starbucks Card and pay for the reload using your Macy's Card. In other words, you're buying gift card credit using your department store card. In addition, you can now turn around and use your Starbucks card there to earn Stars. Previously, you could not earn Stars inside department store locations, but this has been fixed. However, you cannot redeem rewards at these locations. Of course, you could also just buy coffee, tea, or a snack directly with your Macy's Card, but that's less rewarding...but it's tastier than the infamous bottle of water or godiva chocolate bar some use.

Check this out. I applied for a new Macy's account while trying to remove 6 old lates from them on another account. That worked and I let the dust settle in regards to Macy's and my CRs. So today, I tried to make a purchase online at Macy's, but my card didn't work. When I received my new card I was notified that my CL was $400 and that my old account had been closed. I started with the online chat explaining that I was being declined on a small purchase with my new card. Macy's called me a few moments later and told me that they needed to activate my account. Then the nice young girl told me that I had a CL of $800. WOW! What a friend. But I was already prepared for this. I told the CSR that I had been looking at a sectional and it was on sale for $2000K and would it be possible to make this happen today. She put me on hold. Then she came back on the phone and said that I now had a CL of $2500K. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I make myself laugh. Now for a drink in celebration. *insert sound of Grey Goose being poured over ice*

Macy's had two 30 day lates on all 3 of my CRs. Almost 2 months ago, I wrote to Macy's with a DV style letter asking them to verify/validate the lates. After a month, I got impatient and wrote to all 3 CRAs with an enclosed copy of my letter to Macy's along with the certified mail receipt. I simply stated that Macy's hadn't responded to my letter. While on the phone with an EX CSR last week, it asked her to delete the lates from Macy's because I felt they were obsolete. She denied me by stating that they had more than a year left. Oh well. It was worth a shot. Now during this time, I have opened a new Macy's account and Macy's has closed my old account. However, I have left the new account dormant so that it doesn't show on my CRs. This morning I checked my EQ CR and Macy's trade lines have been deleted. Just waiting on TU and EX to follow suit. If TU and EX end up not deleting my lates from Macy's, do you think that I could dispute by sending in a copy of my new account with a copy of my new card stating that the old Macy's account is not mine? P.S. Macy's eventually answered my letter stating that the lates had been verified as correct. BAHAHA!!!! Of course they verified.

Dear CBers: I recently reported a Macy's Charge Off (paid in full to CA) to the CFPB as the CA told me it would be a PFD and was never deleted from any TL. I contacted Macy's first and they were no help and wouldn't even give me the name of the collection agency who handled it! This is the response I got from Macys: "I am in receipt of your complaint filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and forwarded to Macy's Executive Office on February 10, 2014. As a liaison of Macy's Executive office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of Department Stores National Bank. Your Macy's account was charged off due to serious delinquency on August 7, 2012, with a balance of 239.06. Your account is not currently assigned to a collections agency, but is was assigned to FMS Inc., when you paid 239.06 on January 23, 2013, bring your account to a zero balance, as reflected on the enclosed February 7, 2013, billing statement. The account is being reported accurately with a paid-in-full charged off rating. Because we do not remove accurate information from a credit report as part of a payment agreement; I must decline your request to delete your account from your credit report as you requested. Enclosed is a snapshot of what we are reporting to the credit reporting agencies. If you have anything in writing from us stating that we will delete this account from your credit report, please forward a copy to me for review. It would be against our policies to make such an offer to any customer. Our records show that on April 12, 2013, we instructed the credit reporting agencies to update their records and report your account as "customer disputes reporting". If I may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at the telephone number listed below." How should I best go after FMS?

I have a CA letter for MACYS acct. The MACYS acct reports on my credit report but the CA is not yet..... I think it is past SOL because it is due to come off Nov 2014 but I am not 100% sure. It doesn't say anywhere on the letter that the SOL has passed. I thought by law that they were required to tell me if the SOL has passed. I live in NY so the SOL is 6 years. I have no DOLD. Only states Date Opened: 2/2005, Reported Since 2/2008, Date of Status: 8/2008. It was a charge off for $283. Last reported/updated: 5/2012 (because I didnt know of this site yet and disputed online ). Per my Experian credit report, it says that "This account is scheduled to continue on record until Nov 2014." My question is: When I write the validation letter to the CA, should I receive the DOLD upon verification? I keep reading and re-reading the forums and I am doing one step at a time but this is a tough one for me.

Dear All: Desperate need of help! I am new here and have spent so much time readying an learning! In the interim I have sent out dispute letters and validation letters to OC, CA and CRA. Here is where I am...(as of 1/7/14) Experian: 651 Equifax: 577 Transunion: 593 I don't know how to move forward! 1) I DV'd SEVERAL collectors (Mutual Mngmt., Firsel Law Group, Ltd [working for Jefferson Capital], and Convergent Systems [they gave it back to Verizon]) that were not appearing on my credit report. They have stopped bothering me since. 2) I sent a DV to Capital One who responded "We received your application by phone or internet and your account was opened on 12/10/2008. The last charge billed was on April 9, 2013 for $22.54 and your last payment of $200.00 was received on April 5, 2013. Their most recent response stated that "the information the credit bureau sent to us may not have contained everything needed for us to fully understand the reason for your dispute." 3) I DV'd First Premier who gave me zero information in return. Instead they stated "n your correspondence you did not indicate what specific information you were disputing or requesting to verify." I have 2 accounts with them...I complained to the CFPB who sent my complaint to the South Dakota Dept of Treasury. That is pending. 4) I DV'd Macy's who I owed 82 bucks to. It was through a collection agency. I paid it off years ago and in my youth and naivety did so w/o getting it in writing! Needless to say it has not come off. Complained to CFPB. 5) I DV'd CreditFirst who sent me a copy of my signature and charges. (ULP) 6) I owe Verizon (done nothing here yet) 7) Capital One/Saks - I DV's them - They have not responded but continue to call me even though the letter demands they cease and desist. 8) AFNI - I just DV'd them - Waiting on response for an old Sprint debt - Sprint is trying to charge me $62.31 as taxes and fees after I terminated my account. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. 9) ALLY - My auto finance co. - Was late several times in 2013 due to injury - they are not willing to work with me 10) Cortrust Bank - Paid it off and closed it 2 years ago....how do I get this off? How do I get this all fixed. Any and all advise would be greatly appreciated.

I spend about 4 hours a day reading this board and as usual I have another question. I came acorss the myfico site while research my charge offs. -https://www.google.com/search?q=macys+charge+off+myfico&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Gef&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=+site:ficoforums.myfico.com+macys+charge+off+myfico&sa=X&ei=FDUTUc7ZIIiD0QGY04CwAQ&ved=0CFEQrQIwAA&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.42080656,d.dmQ&fp=a2506bd95db5674c&biw=1366&bih=664 Numerous ppl posted that they contacted Macys and had the chage off marked as paid and there accounts reopened. The amount is $265 and EX has it falling off Feb 2015. I have just started the process of removing old addresses & would like any input or advice. Should i wait it out? Ask for a PFD and reopen the account? As of right now I only have one postitive account on my CRA's & this Macy's account is not in collections - last activity in 2008..
